94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The citrus, almost golden colored 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Pur Oger is sourced from two specific vineyards in Oger (Les Noyerots and Les Rumigny) that were harvested on September 15th, exactly a week earlier than the corresponding three plots for Pur Avize. The wine displays a deep, rich, tropical yet more aristocratic and mineral bouquet of intense brioche and nougat aromas as well as ethereal, refreshing lemon and limestone notes. Full-bodied, round, rich and complex on the palate, this is a mouth-filling...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine comes from Le Mesnil, one of the top villages in the Côte des Blancs, and is produced from only Grand Cru vineyards. It is as textured and mineral as a young wine like this should be. White fruit shows through the concentrated texture and will become more dominant as the wine matures. (RV)" (12/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sourced from three vineyards in Mesnil (Les Zailleux, Le Tilleul and Les Hautes Mottes) that were picked on the same day (24th of September), Olivier Bonville's citrus colored ...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This explosive, ripe wine is part of a trilogy that the producer has made from three of the greatest villages in Champagne. This tense, mineral-driven wine is rich with white fruits. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2018) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sourced from three specific vineyards in Avize (Les Chapelles, Les Avats and Les Maladries), the 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Pur Avize is a bright colored Côte des Blancs with a terrific deep and aromatic bouquet of smooth chalk, juicy tropical fruit and lemon notes....

2012 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne
New!
98 points James Suckling: "Such attractive, fresh, floral aromas here with fine bread, hints of white almonds and a lemon edge. White cherries and strong, chalky minerals, too. The palate has a very composed feel. Seamless and quite silky texture with effortless length and flow. Very fluid and composed. Very late, warming almond flavors. This is very long and smooth with a velvety finish. Super long pinot weight. Resolved and drinkable, but will age so well." (07/2019) 98 points Vinous: "The 2012 Cristal is another absolutely stellar wine this flight o...

2012 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Revelation" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This all Meunier, single vineyard, barrel fermented wonder was the best Champagne I tasted on my spring trip. And yes--that includes all of the $1,000-plus canons that we tasted! Don't wait. It will disappear. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
Price: $79.99

2012 Fallet-Dart Vintage Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
The Fallet family traces its wine growing history back to 1610, and following the marriage of Geneviève Dart and Gaston Fallet in 1953 the Fallet-Dart brand was founded in 1970. The wine is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir that is fermented in a mix of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks and aged for at least seven years on the lees.
Price: $39.99

This 100% Avize Grand Cru bottling is pure estate and all fermented in stainless steel. It comes from the "miracle" 2012 vintage, one of the smallest, most high-quality crops of the decade. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
Price: $39.99

91 points James Suckling: "Big blackberry, chocolate and caramel nose with some spicy oak. This is a pretty bold wine on the palate, but the tannins are not out of line and the overall impression is of expansiveness rather than heaviness. Relatively supple finish. Drink or hold." (08/2018) K&L Notes: A longtime participant in the wine business, Miguel sold wine for wine distributors in the States as well as worked as an export manager. Miguel found success every step of the way, and then decided that rather than retire, he wanted to fulfill his dream o...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From an ungrafted Pinot Noir vineyard planted in 1973 (on sandy soils) and picked on September 25th at 11.2 potential alcohol, the 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru les Francs de Pied offers very clear, fresh, precise and delicate fruit on the nose. Fermented 100% in used oak barrels, this is a pure, highly finessed, very elegant and terribly salty Pinot Noir with a very long, complex yet pure, tensioned and very long finish. This is well structured and persistent. (SR)" (08/2018)
Price: $109.99

2012 du Glana, St-Julien
Top Pick!
90 points James Suckling: "Fine and silky with pretty aromas and flavors of currants and stones. Medium body, dense fruit and fine tannins. Racy finish." (02/2015) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Features a smoldering charcoal edge, with focused plum, cassis and bitter cherry fruit forming the core. Sleek, with iron and loam notes underscoring the finish. Shows solid length and drive, and should age nicely. (JM)" (03/2015)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aged for five years in large subterranean tanks, this wine is rich and intensely concentrated. It has the essence of lemon and peach fruits, cut with acidity and spicy secondary flavors. The wine is impressively ripe and ready to drink. (RV)" (09/2018) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Almost velvety in texture, featuring notes of sweet corn and toasted coconut that frame the core of yellow apple and Mirabelle plum flavors. Asian spice accents emerge midpalate, with focused acidity penetrating and giving this life. (AZ)" (11/2019) ...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Premier Cru Extra Brut is sourced in Bouzy and Écueil and was picked between September 20th and October 3rd. The wine blends 55% Pinot Noir with 45% Chardonnay and was fermented 60% in Burgundian pièces. The straw-yellow colored wine offers a clear, precise and refreshing citrus aroma with mineral notes and good intensity. Full-bodied and charmingly round on the palate, this is an intense, lush and fruity vintage with a refreshing mineral finish. Disgorged in March 2017 with a dosage of four grams per li...

2012 Schramsberg North Coast Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine (1.5L)
Top Pick!
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another big-time winner, and one of their larger cuvées of just over 9,000 cases is the 2012 Brut Rosé. This is a blend of 76% Pinot Noir and 24% Chardonnay, of which 33% was barrel fermented. This wine is ripe, broad, savory, shows tiny bubbles, comes across fresh with kirsch-like aromatics and flavors. It's dry, medium-bodied, zesty and exuberant. (RP)" (12/2015) 92 points Wine & Spirits: "Coppery pink, this is a floral, strawberry-scented rosé focused on pinot noir from Sonoma County. There’s dynamic freshne...

98 points James Suckling: "A relatively new addition to the Peter Michael range and made from a single vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley. Phenomenal aromas of dust, rust, blackberry, currants and dried berries. Spices such as nutmeg and cloves too. Stunning." (07/2015) 96 points Wine Spectator: "*2015 Wine of the Year, Highly Recommended* Deliciously pure and supple, with explosive dark berry and red berry flavors and a silky, polished texture. The tannins become more evident midway through, with a gravelly crushed rock profile that adds a dimen...

2012 Louis Roederer Brut Champagne
Back In Stock!
96 points James Suckling: "Just over two-thirds Pinot Noir (Verzenay) and the balance southeast-facing Chardonnay from Chouilly. This has 30% of oak fermentation which has compressed the wine, lending it an air of extreme concentration. The nose is gently spicy, offering peaches and cherries as well as neat autolysis edge. The palate has a powerful, long and assertive feel, with peach and lemon pith, chalky minerals, and some grapefruit. A powerful vintage for Roederer." (01/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This beautiful wine, with its poise, eleganc...

100 points James Suckling: "A phenomenal Saffredi with so much structure and length. It’s full-bodied yet remaines agile and lively. Aromas and flavors of currants, mint and wet earth. Full-bodied, chewy and powerful. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. This has a special label celebrating the 25th anniversary of the production of this wine. It's the greatest Saffredi ever, cementing its reputation as the Lafite of Tuscany. This needs at least five years in bottle but it’s entrancing to drink now. A must-buy for Super Tuscan lovers." ...

97 points Decanter: "Fine, focussed bouquet, fresh despite its age, with complex cherry and mocha notes. Very impressive! The palate is round and stylish with sweet fruit backed by grainy textured tannins; long and powerful. A great Ribera del Duero hitting its peak. Exemplary from start to finish." (09/2018) 91 points James Suckling: "Quite a complex, mature nose with earthy and balsamic vinegar notes, leading into a ripe and rich palate with supple tannins and good length. Drink now." (08/2018) K&L Notes: Based in the village of Peñafiel, at the ea...

2012 d'Issan, Margaux
Back In Stock!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Château d’Issan, builds on the richness of the second wine and adds more body, structure and density. It has an inky purple color and a stunning nose of spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry fruit as well as touches of incense and graphite. Medium to full-bodied and stunningly concentrated, this 2012 is a great success in the vintage, one of the superstars. Moreover, its precociousness suggests it could be drunk in the next 4-5 years or cellared through 2025. I underrated this wine dramatically in my ...

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While a lot of the 2012s came in near the bottom of the barrel score, that wasn't the case with the 2012 Syrah Bionic Frog and this beauty flirts with perfection. Inky colored and purple to the rim, it offers extraordinary notes of black fruits, wild mushrooms, smoked earth and salty minerality. These all flow to a full-bodied, thrillingly concentrated, focused, structured and lengthy 2012 that needs 4-5 years of cellaring, and will knock your socks off over the following 15 years or more. (JD)" (06/2015) 96 po...

2012 Gaudin, Pauillac
Top Pick!
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Produced on a small family-run estate that is surrounded by Bordeaux first growths, this wine is structured and firm. It has dark tannins and black currant fruit, together giving a ripe, smoky wine. The 40-year-old vines add to the concentration of this wine. Drink from 2019. *Editors' Choice* (RV)" (09/2016)

James Suckling: "A balanced glass of red with blueberry, blackberry and shaved chocolate character. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Blend of 82% merlot, 16% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet franc. From the family that own Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Drink or hold." (02/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the generic Bordeaux from the Domaine Clarence Dillon. When they first told me about this, I thought it was probably not the best idea in the world, but the quality of the wine speaks for itself. I think they have be...

2012 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Springs" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
Back In Stock!
93 points Vinous: "The 2012 Lytton Springs is quite reserved, compact and inward at this stage. There is good density and depth in the glass, but the elements aren't fully formed just yet. While most of Ridge's 2012s are quite open today, that is not at all the case with the Lytton Springs. The 2012 is going to need time. In 2012, Lytton Springs is 70% Zinfandel, 21% Petite Sirah, 7% Carignane and 4% Mataro (Mourvèdre). (AG) 93+" (07/2014) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Although its aromas do not jump from the glass, this carefully made Zin exhibits fi...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Musella's 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva is a little dry and tight, thanks to the vintage heat and the age of the wine. However, dark fruit aromas of dried cherry and black currant do still appear with intensity. The blend of grapes used here is 50% Corvina, 35% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 10% Oseleta, all dehydrated for 90 days. This shorter appassimento time (instead of 120 days) is quite common in the hot 2012 vintage. This wine is large-scale and full-bodied in the mouth with lots of tar, spice and ...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The wine comes from the grand showpiece estate of Madiran. A blend that is dominated by Tannat produces a wine that is still so young. Bold fruits and firm tannins are right to the fore, along with acidity and a strong mineral texture. It's a powerful and impressive wine that also manages elegance as well. The wine will take several more years to soften. Drink from 2020. *#63 Top 100 Cellar Selections* (RV) " (07/2017)

89-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red with ruby tones. Aromas of blueberry and menthol. Powerfully structured, juicy and penetrating, with iron and mint notes along with brisk acidity contributing to an impression of youthful reserve. Quite imploded today, this juicy, long wine needs more time in the bottle. (It was slated to be bottled in September of this year.) " (05/2014)

2012 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan
New!
96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2012 Haut Bailly is brilliant and does nothing to damper my belief that this vintage is underrated in the market. Offering up a classic bouquet of tobacco leaf, cigar wrapper, blackcurrants, lead pencil, and graphite, this beauty is full-bodied, has terrific concentration, integrated acidity and plenty of fine tannins. While it starts out up front and seemingly ready to go, it tightens up with time in the glass and is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and drink nicely for two decades. It’s a sensational wine you wo...

2012 Charles Heintz Estate "Melissa Danielle" Sonoma Coast Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine
New!
Winemaking Notes from consulting Winemaker, Michael Cruse (Ultramarine): "This limited production of sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay from Heintz Ranch. We used the classic "Champagne Method" pressing with wild yeasts on the primary fermentation. The wine did not go through malolactic fermentation. The base wine was then aged sur lies in neutral French barrels for a full 12 months until tirage. This wine was then aged en tirage (on its yeasts) for almost 5 years in the bottle and allowed to evolve and develop more complex flavors. The wine has...
Price: $44.95

91 points Wine Spectator: "Dark and slightly gutsy, but still alluring, with lots of smoldering charcoal and roasted alder notes framing a core of dark plum, fig and blackberry paste flavors. Offers a thick coat of tobacco and fresh humus on the finish, revealing a light echo of bay at the very end. Distinctive. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Counoise, Mourvèdre, Viognier and Clairette. (JM)" (11/2016) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Vin de Mr le Baron is the current release, as there was none made in 2013–2015. This unique win...

2012 Argyle "Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Back In Stock!
92 points Wine Spectator: "A crisp and tangy red, with inviting red berry, red plum and quince flavors on a lively frame, finishing against fine tannins with intensity, persistence and harmony. Best from 2016 through 2022. (HS)" (02/2015) K&L Notes: The 2012 Argyle “Reserve” Willamette Valley Pinot Noir combines grapes from many of the best blocks and vineyards that Argyle has access to. Exploding from the glass are intense aromas of strawberry preserves, cotton candy, sage and crushed rose leaves. The palate bursts with fresh strawberries, cranberries...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cornas Confidence is a smoking Cornas that does everything right! Deep, rich, concentrated and full-bodied, it offers up terrific notes of blackcurrants, black raspberry, smoked earth, licorice and caramelized meats. Nicely structure, with notable, yet sweet tannin, and moderate acidity, give it 2-3 years and drink it through 2027. It’s serious stuff and don’t miss grabbing a couple bottles. (JD) " (12/2014) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Alluring notes of plum sauce and boysenberry pâte de fruit are inlai...

2012 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino
Back In Stock!
96 points James Suckling: "I like the ripe-fruit and smoked-meat aromas to this. Subtle and complex. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a long and chewy finish. Needs time to soften. Very structured for the vintage." (11/2016) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Valdicava represents its own school within the greater Brunello philosophy. This estate (under proprietor Vincenzo Abbruzzese) crafts contemporary and modern wines with noticeable density and ever-present aromatic intensity. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a dark and ...

2012 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Estate" Dry Creek Valley Primitivo
Back In Stock!
From the winery: "Aromas of black cherry, plum and toasty oak followed by pepper and licorice notes on the palate. Chaparral and well-defined tannins on the finish." "In 2004, we replanted a five-acre block at Lytton West to primitivo, the Italian name for a grape brought from Croatia to southern Italy in the late 18th century. It had come from Croatia to Vienna in the 16th century, and from there to America in the 1820s as zinfandel. For added structure, we included petite sirah from an adjoining block. This delicious wine is full of fruit and spice. E...

2012 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Estate" Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah
Back In Stock!
93 points Vinous: "The 2012 Petite Sirah Lytton Estate is absolutely delicious. The addition of 10% Zinfandel has softened the typically burly Petit tannins, resulting in a wine that delivers tons of pure pleasure. Menthol, cloves and lavender wrap around a core of blue/purplish fruit in a gorgeous Petite with soft contours (for Petite) and terrific overall balance. " (07/2014)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "This is a high-octane mountain Cabernet, its sweet black fruit subdued by the richness of new French oak (95 percent of the lot), which works to tame its power and make it accessible in its youth. The flavors are dark in tone, from pipe tobacco to walnuts and soy. Decant it for an equally massive steak." (04/2017) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big-shouldered red made predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon with a balance of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this wine offers bold, firm tannins and heaps of body. Blackberry,...

90-92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin is endowed with gorgeous depth and overall balance. Exceptionally polished and creamy throughout, the 2012 impresses for its resonance and layered personality. Gently spiced, earthy notes add complexity as the wine opens up in the glass. This is a fabulous wine in its class. -- Antonio Galloni " (01/2014) 89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Outstanding Top Value! There is enough wood to be easily perceptible though not so much as to impede an appreciation of the spicy dark berry fruit, earth and und...

Price: $49.99

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 G. B. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon Composition is a slightly different blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot and 1% Petite Sirah. This is an even bigger wine at 15.7% natural alcohol, but of course, that’s part of the 2012 set of characteristics. Spicy oak intermixed with crème de cassis, blackberry and blueberry along with some chocolate and espresso are all present in this wine, which has great intensity, a multi-layered mouthfeel, fabulous purity and length, and a boatload of glycerin that gives the ...

93 points Decanter: "Mouthfilling and rich, unveiling a lovely creamy blanket of dried cherry and plum fruit, propelled by an enlivening vein of acidity. Highly satisfying yet still youthful. (Panel Tasting)" (01/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "This opens with aromas of ripe black-skinned fruit, resin and roasted coffee bean. The warm, dense palate delivers espresso, dried black cherry, clove and vanilla alongside close-grained tannins. (KO)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: Corte Rugolin is the name of an old manor house of the late 1600`s. This property, owned by Coun...
