2009 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "A major success of the vintage. The wine exhibits extreme richness of the fruit, with all its sweet blackberry flavors. It also has underlying firm structure, density and solid tannins. Bring in the acidity at the end, and this is both impressive and ready for long-term aging. *Ranked #3 on Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2012* (RV)" (02/2012) 96 points James Suckling: "Very floral, with fresh mushrooms and currants on the nose. Full body, with powerful tannins, yet polished and refined. Lovely length. Vibrant ...

From Gilbert & Gaillard: Dress with reflections of evolution. Fine nose, ripe fruit (plum, cherry, gooseberry), presence undergrowth. The mouth seduces with its freshness. Fine texture, soft matter, melted tannins. The fruit does not miss the opportunity to reign. Pleasantly mature. (2015)

2009 Valentons Canteloup "Cuvée Excentrique" Bordeaux Supérieur

Chateau Valentons-Canteloup Bordeaux Superieur is a family-owned property that sits just along the Dordogne river in Bordeaux. It is owned by the Meynard family and Jacques Meynard makes all the wine on the property from white to rose to red. Jacques also makes a wine under the label of Chateau Valentons-Canteloup that he calls "Cuvee Excentrique", and it is truly eccentric for a Bordeaux Superieur, made from Petit Verdot (70%) and Merlot (30%).

2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2009 Pontet-Canet continues to just knock it out of the park every time I’ve been lucky enough to drink a bottle, and this beauty was as good as it gets yet again. Deep purple-colored, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and just about off the charts in terms of scale and density, it nevertheless just glides across the palate with an ethereal, seamless texture that never seems heavy or cumbersome. This is pure Pauillac in all its glory and is a monumental wine in every way. Drink it any time over the coming 4-5 decades." ( ...

2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Dilection" Brut Rosé Champagne

Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth-generation winemaker. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750, and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the incredible 2009 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced was planted in 1902. It is rich, but classically dry with dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the finish, which lingers.

2009 La Rioja Alta "904" Gran Reserva Rioja

97 points James Suckling: "This is a driven and super tight Gran Reserva with dark berries and hints of spice and cedar. A spicy red-pepper undertone and some dried flowers. Full to medium body, integrated tannins and a superb finish. A great wine." (08/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Time flies, and the 904 for sale is already the 2009 Gran Reserva 904, as they didn't bottle it in 2008. 2009 Pierre Mineral Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

All Mesnil grand cru bargain!!!! This wine comes from all estate-grown fruit in the grand cru of Mesnil. It is a very clean wine with pure flavors and a complex, subtle nose. The texture is silky and delicate, but the finish is quite powerful. This is a very stylish wine, and a very good deal thanks to a direct buy from the producer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

2009 Baron-Fuenté "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne

It is in a crisp style, tight with acidity, finishing taut and mineral. Drink from 2019. (RV)" (08/2018) K&L Notes: This all estate grown gem from Baron Fuente is composed of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier, and 15% Pinot Noir from around Charly-sur-Marne. It has a wonderful, beautifully delineated bouquet with expressive scents of wild honey, orange pith, Seville orange marmalade and just a hint of pineapple. The palate is beautifully defined with pure botrytised fruit, supremely well balanced with a vivacious, ginger and white pepper tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. Outstanding. 2009 Talisker 8 Year Old "Old Particular - K&L Exclusive" Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

Talisker has sort of this mythical quality in the pantheon of great malts. The majestic distillery on the banks of Loch Harport has long been a staple of any good Scotch selection thanks to its inclusion in the original "Classic Malt" line-up. While it was always one of the more available high quality malts on the market, Talisker was almost NEVER bottled by independents. Word was that Diageo prohibited the sale of casks to blenders under that name, but a special few bottlers, like Gordon & Macphail, had access to filling contracts which allowed them to ...

Ripe and intense on the palate, with good grip and purity, this is an expressive, complex and persistent Blanc de Blancs with a long, refined and refreshing finish. 2009 Caol Ila 8 Year Old "Signatory" K&L Exclusive Single Hogshead Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

We've made it a point this year to buy as much young Caol Ila as possible! At the same time it offers rich spice, pepper and a toasty character that is cut with citrus acidity. Kept in an underground tank until bottling in December 2017, it is a great example of the aging ability of fine Muscadet.
