2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
Top Pick!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2009 Pontet-Canet continues to just knock it out of the park every time I’ve been lucky enough to drink a bottle, and this beauty was as good as it gets yet again. Deep purple-colored, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and just about off the charts in terms of scale and density, it nevertheless just glides across the palate with an ethereal, seamless texture that never seems heavy or cumbersome. This is pure Pauillac in all its glory and is a monumental wine in every way. Drink it any time over the coming 4-5 decades." (...

2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac 12-Pack in OWC
Back In Stock!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine I’ve been lucky enough to have numerous times since release, the 2009 Pontet Canet is one of those magical efforts that wine lovers encounter far too infrequently. From one of the greatest vintages for the region ever, this deep, saturated purple-colored effort offers an incredible bouquet of crème de cassis, blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, damp earth, and graphite. This gives way to a full-bodied, powerful Pauillac that carries a massive amount of sweet fruit yet stays light and beautifully balanced on the palate. Wi...

2009 Auguste Clape Cornas
Back In Stock!
97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Almost as good, yet in a completely different style, the 2009 Cornas is about as sexy and voluptuous as Cornas gets! Loaded with kirsch, licorice, dried flowers and smoked meat-like aromas and flavors, this awesome 2009 has thrilling concentration, full-bodied richness and knockout length. It has the fruit to impress today, but needs 3-4 years of bottle age and will have over two decades of longevity. (JD)" (08/2014) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Possesses the delicious ripeness of the vintage, replete with dense ...

2009 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
100 points James Suckling: "This is amazing as always with layers of fruit and firm, velvety tannins. Full body, incredible depth of fruit and length. Currants, raspberries and Indian spices. It goes on for minutes. A monumental Cos. Greatest ever from here. Better in five years, but amazing." (11/2015) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos d’Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel...

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Showing better than a previous bottle, the 2009 Larcis Ducasse is just now starting to come into its own, offering terrific, full-bodied aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, licorice, espresso, and leafy herbs. This deep, rich, full-bodied effort has absorbed its oak élevage beautifully, has a layered, unctuous texture, and plenty of sweet tannin. It’s a heavenly Saint Emilion to enjoy over the coming 15+ years." (02/2018) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A complex set of aromas ranging from coffee to forest floor, herb...

2009 Delas Freres "Domaine des Tourettes" Hermitage
Back In Stock!
98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that flirts with perfection is the inky and opaque 2009 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes. Coming from L'Ermite, le Sabot, and Les Bessards, and aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, it gives up a heavenly bouquet of crushed rocks, blackberries, leather, wild herbs and earth. Massively concentrated on the palate, with another level of fruit and texture over the 2010, it has brilliant purity, building tannin and a blockbuster finish. There's enough tannin here to warrant hiding in the cell...

100 points James Suckling: "Blueberries, currants and Indian spices on the nose follow through to a full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a lovely finish. It's intense and refined. A beauty. It goes on for minutes. Speechless. Better and cleaner than the great 1990." (03/2012) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Harvested between September 17 and October 5, this wine seems always open for business, so to speak, much like the great 1982s. The summer of 2009 was very hot and dry, which got the harvest off to a reasonably early start. The blend wa...

2009 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The greatest wine I’ve ever tasted from this address is the 2009 Léoville Poyferré, which is a step up over both the 2000 and the 2010. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and the balance Cabernet Franc that hit 13.9% alcohol, it offers everything you could ask of a wine and reveals a saturated purple color as well as incredible notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, lead pencil, exotic Spices, and dried flowers. Incredibly full-bodied, super concentrated, deep, and opulent, yet still pure, fresh, and l...

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is one of the great wines of the vintage. It brings together gorgeous aromatics, juicy, expressive red fruit and silky tannins. Now seemingly past a period of closure post-bottling, the 2009 looks like a wine that will drink well pretty much throughout its entire life. The 2009 is a totally sexy Cabernet endowed with stunning depth and a rich, enveloping personality. This is pure Araujo and pure Eisele. 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Cellar Selection 0 A dramatic wine, this is rich, full bodied and incredibly complex, laced with notes of ripe, sweet blackberries and crème de cassis, with a spirituous heat from relatively high alcohol. Its pedigree is clear throughout the entire tasting experience. This is a really gorgeous Cabernet, showing refinement and grace, but it is very tannic. Give it at least 10 years. *Cellar Selection*" (10/2012) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Flexes its muscle, with a dense, firm core of loamy earth, dark berry, black licorice, w...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill Of comes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. The Thrill Of … is 90% Syrah, 6% Grenache and 4% Viognier, all destemmed and mostly from estate owned vineyards. (AG)" (08/2012) 95 points Vinous: "Inky ...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Abel Vineyard is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Petit Verdot that was made with native yeast fermentation and malo. The 2008 Abel emphasizes richness and sheer weight. Dark fruit, mocha, espresso and copious French oak play off each other well. Still, this is an overdone style that doesn’t quite seem in sync with the best wines here. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2011)

96 points Decanter: "Outstanding Williams Selyem’s Pinots show pert red and/or black fruit (depending on vineyard source) and crackling acidity. This bottling from its new estate vineyard has more heft and tannin, yet it remains suave and elegant, with blackberry, beetroot, kirsch and sassafras notes. (Panel Tasting)" (10/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "From the winery’s own Westside Road vineyard, formerly called Litton, comes this grandiose, if immature, Pinot Noir. In its youth it’s all about primary, jammy raspberry and cherry fruit. On the edges...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more closed but potentially greater 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin State Lane Vineyard is a 480-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by notes of licorice, creme de cassis, camphor and subtle toast. Full-bodied and concentrated, it represents 15% of the total Kapcsandy production. The wine finished with 13.7% alcohol, which in these days is relatively low, although the alcohol levels were down in 2009 through 2011 because of the...

95 points James Suckling: "A structured red with polished tannins and subtle vanilla, chocolate and currant character on the nose and palate. Full body, with integrated tannins and a compacted palate. Builds on the palate. Muscular and intense. Needs until 2015 to soften. Try it then." (11/2014) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Flaccianello della Pieve is a huge wine that definitely shows the richness of the year, yet somehow retains fabulous balance. Ripe black cherries, mocha, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that fles...

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay is a soft, caressing wine. The bouquet is open and expressive, while the fruit reveals considerable nuance. There is a hint of firmness to the tannins, but there is enough fruit to provide balance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (NM)" (05/2011) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Pretty, floral aromas of red raspberry and cherry. Smooth, pure and fruit-driven, with good lift and underlying spiciness. Not particularly sweet or fleshy but juicy and bright, with a firm, pe...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Deep ruby/purple-colored, with loads of red currants, smoked meats, dried flowers, Asian spices and hints of truffle-like aromatics, the 2009 Haut Bailly is full-bodied, ethereally textured, super elegant, and possesses a purity of fruit that’s off the charts. In addition to a wealth of fruit, this absolutely perfect wine glides across the palate and carries incredible intensity and richness without any sensation of weight or heaviness. It's already impossible to resist, yet will keep for another two to three decades. This is the...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is appreciably fresher and also displays notes of red currant though the minerality now extends to the aromas and in hallmark Frémiets style, also suffuses the rich, supple and refined middle weight flavors blessed with ample amounts of dry extract that buffer the moderately firm tannins on the impressively long finish. The minerality is so strong that there is a Chablis-like saline character. A classy effort of finesse. " (05/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Fremiet ...

93 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a relatively immediate Marthas, with a real feeling of mid-palate density and weight that is almost out of character for this estate. Sweet, silky tannins give the 2009 much of its succulence. Scents of mint, pine and eucalyptus wrap around the juicy, inviting finish. (AG)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. This is very shut down for now, and should age for a long time. T...

2009 Hugel "Schoelhammer" Riesling Grand Cru Alsace
Back In Stock!
99 points James Suckling: "Almost absurdly fresh for its age. The spicy and mineral complexity is just beginning to emerge from the cloak of ripe tree fruits. This is as graceful as it is concentrated and as pristine as it is powerful. The best vintage of this wine so far released and the shining star of the vintage. Delicious now, but probably has a couple of decades ahead of it if you can resist its fascination now." (05/2018) 95 points Decanter: "Located mid-slope on the famed south-facing Schoenenbourg grand cru, Schoelhammer consists of just 30 ro...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 97ST, 97VN, 96WS, 93DC). Vinous: "Stylistically, the 2009 Harlan Estate has quite a bit in common with the 2012, namely soft contours, plush fruit and tons of sheer immediacy. Now with a few years in bottle, the 2009 is just beginning to show the first signs of aromatic development. Deep, creamy and pliant, the 2009 can be enjoyed now, although it is sure to gain complexity over the next two decades. (AG)" (09/2017)
Starting Bid: $1,110.00

Bid on this 1.5 liter 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rudd "Oakville Estate" Oakville Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (93RP, 92VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate's 2009 Proprietary Red Rudd Estate wraps around the palate with silky dark fruit. Layered, sweet and sensual, the 2009 is laced with attractive scents of mocha, cloves and violets, all of which add complexity to the dark fruit. The 2009 needs a few years to soften, but ultimately it stands out for its textured personality and terrific balance. This undeniably appealing wine is likely to be at its best over the next 10-15 years, give or take. (AG)" (12/2012)
Starting Bid: $260.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Hudelot Noellat Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((91-93BH), 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Outstanding* This too is very Vosne in basic character with mild wood influence as well on the wonderfully spicy, cooler and more elegant blue and black berry fruit aromas cut with plenty of mineral influence that carries over to the rich, intense and vibrant middle weight flavors that are given shape and firmness by the fine tannins, all wrapped in a long finish that displays an abundance of underlying tension." (01/2011)
Starting Bid: $105.00

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved and also quite floral medium-pitched nose speaks of wet stone and anise on the restrained and pure red pinot fruit aromas that complement well the mineral-driven flavors that offer a seductively textured and energetic finish that possesses picture-perfect balance and excellent length. This is not a big wine and though it's not strict, neither is it especially generous at present. However, a fine Latricières often puts on weight and flesh as it ages and I suspect that is what this will do too." (01/2012) ...

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (100DC, 100JD, 100RP, 99JS, 98VN, (96-98WE), 98WS, 97ST, (95-96JG)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Cheval Blanc offers up profound notions of baked blueberries, blackberry compote and crème de cassis with suggestions of chocolate mint, new leather and cloves plus a waft of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is an exercise in elegance with very classy, super fine-grained tannins, beautiful freshness and layer upon layer of mineral-laced blue and black fruits, finishing long and perfumed. (LPB)" (03/2019)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Clos Saint-Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93JD, 90RP). Jeb Dunnuck: "A fantastic base cuvee, the 2009 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of 75% tank aged Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Vaccarese. It displays a meaty, perfumed, and spice-laced bouquet of red fruits, licorice, and mineral, medium to full body, a superb, silky texture, admirable balance, and plenty of length on the finish. While not as deep or rich as the Vieilles Vignes, it has solid concentration and a very drinkable, delicious style. " (09/2011)
Starting Bid: $105.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Morlet "Joli Coeur" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (94VN). Vinous: "Bright ruby-red. Captivating if somewhat reticent aromas of raspberry, violet, crushed rock and chocolatey oak. Fat, broad and highly concentrated but a bit tight today, with superb energy to the youthful flavors of raspberry coulis, graphite and herbs. This boasts remarkable inner-mouth energy for a pinot at this octane level. Finishes with broad, oak-driven tannins and a surprisingly light touch. Aeration brought an emerging spicecake character. (ST)" (06/2011)
Starting Bid: $230.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Louis Jadot Chambertin Grand Cru ((92-94BH), (91-94RP), (92-94ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chambertin flows across the palate with explosive yet silky layers of fruit. The wine continues to build impressively, showing the radiant personality of the vintage. Everything is in the perfect place in this sublime Burgundy. Sweet inner fragrance lingers on the eternal finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (AG)" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $375.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Batailley, Pauillac (93JS, 92VN, 91WS). James Suckling: "A rich yet dry Pauillac that's now very attractive to drink and has a good harmony in spite of the generous alcohol. Long, supple finish. Drink or hold. (Horizontal Tasting, London, 2019)" (03/2019)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru (93BH, 93JG). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A moderately toasty nose displays plenty of both natural and wood spice together with very ripe black cherry and cassis aromas that merge into dense, seductively textured and opulent middle weight flavors that possess a good amount of tannin-buffering sap and fine length along with a mild hint of warmth. I very much like the overall depth and while this is certainly a child of its vintage, it avoids the heaviness that many of its brethren display." (11/2015)
Starting Bid: $175.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Louis Jadot Grand Cru Charmes Chambertin (92BH, (90-92RP), (89-92ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin shows excellent suppleness in its round fruit. This is a generous, open style with good balance, even if the wine lacks the sheer excitement of the best selections here. Bright red fruits and flowers inform the open, accessible finish. The Charmes is made from purchased wine. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (AG)" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $135.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Tusk Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon . From seven different vineyard sources and five Napa Valley appellations; Oakville and Prichard Hill are the primary sources. Aged 30 months in new French oak. Winery tasting notes: "Tusk 2009 offers sweet red fruit character, hints of chocolate, flint, white floral notes, and a finish of anise. In tasting this unforgettable wine, the following words come to mind: vibrant, complex, seamless, intense, pure, ripe red fruits, and silky texture. Extremely detailed grape sorting created even ripeness throughout fermentation. Important: Tusk should be decanted and enjoyed at 60F-65F."
Starting Bid: $1,215.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Feusselottes".
Starting Bid: $650.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay ((89-91RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay is a soft, caressing wine. The bouquet is open and expressive, while the fruit reveals considerable nuance. There is a hint of firmness to the tannins, but there is enough fruit to provide balance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (NM)" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (96DC, 96RP, 95JD, 95JS, 94JG, 94ST, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Calon-Ségur is deep garnet in color and opens with a beautiful fragrance of redcurrant preserves, cassis, black cherry compote and red roses plus nuances of cigar box and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied and wonderfully elegant in the mouth, it has a compelling line of very ripe, fine-grained tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the fragrant layers, finishing long and perfumed. (LPB)" (03/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94VN, 93DC, 93JS, 92ST). Vinous: "The 2009 Opus One is impeccable. It brings together the silkiness of the 2007 with the power and darkness of the 2008, a combination that is hugely appealing, to say the least. With a little air, the 2009 can be enjoyed young, but it is best cellared for at least a few years, which will allow some of the baby fat to drop off. (AG) 94+" (06/2013)
Starting Bid: $490.00

Bid on this magnum of 2009 Pavie Macquin, St-Emilion (1.5L) (96WS, 94JS, 94VN, 92DC, 92RP, 92ST, 92WE). Wine Spectator: "This is a "wow" wine, with a stunning display of plum, blackberry and raspberry confiture aromas and flavors, allied to a dense but very velvety structure. Licorice, violet and plum cake notes fill in the background. Everything carries through the long, lush finish until the fine chalky minerality finally appears, adding remarkable finesse to this otherwise explosive display. Hard not to drink now, but this will cruise in the cellar. Drink now through 2030. (JM, Web Only-2015)"

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Copain "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (93VN). Vinous: "Inky ruby. Pungent, smoke-accented aromas of cassis, boysenberry, cola, incense and violet, with a hint of cracked pepper adding lift. Densely packed dark berry flavors show serious power and pick up spiciness with aeration. Really stains the palate, offering an array of floral and spice notes on the impressively long, chewy finish. On the primary side, which is no great surprise, but this highly promising syrah seems set for a slow and positive evolution in the bottle. (ST) 93+" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Dujac Fils et Pere Gevrey-Chambertin (91WE). Wine Enthusiast: "With dense, dusty tannins as well as great bright red fruits, this is a wine that has weight and richness, while still going through a severe stage. It has power and structure. (RV)" (09/2011)
Starting Bid: $280.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 3" Central Coast Syrah (96RP, 96VN, 94ST). Vinous: "The 2009 Next of Kyn - No. 3 comes across as a mix of the 2007 and 2008, with the sensual richness of the former and the darker profile of the latter. Because of its impeccable balance, the 2009 is hugely rewarding today. Succulent dark cherry, cloves, menthol and licorice add nuance throughout, but above all else, the 2009 is a wine that can be enjoyed with minimum fuss over the next decade or so. This retrospective tasting provided a great opportunity to revisit the first seven releases of Manfred and Elaine Krankl’s Next of Kyn. As compelling as the Krankls’ Sine Qua Non wines are, I have always found Next of Kyn to be just as fascinating, especially in recent years. This vertical only served to reinforce that impression. (AG)" (08/2017)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Anakota "Helena Montana" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, (93-95ST), 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana Vineyard gives up a gorgeous fragrance of dried roses, oolong tea, underbrush and spice cake over a core of minted cassis, blackberry compote, star anise and preserved plums. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a wonderful savory personality with a firm frame of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a persistent mineral note. (LPB)" (01/2020)
Starting Bid: $110.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94VN, 93DC, 93RP). Vinous: "Bright ruby-red. Penetrating aromas of black cherry, dried flowers and brown spices. Not as silky as the 2004 through 2007 vintages but boasts noteworthy refinement and savory intensity, with fresh, harmonious acidity giving the wine good focus and finesse. Excellent depth here if not quite the flavor development of vintages like '07 and '04. Still, this conveys a thickness of texture and a faintly exotic quality and finishes with very suave tannins. The summer was rather cool but steady, and there was enough warmth in September to ensure ripe tannins without burning off needed acidity, noted Bo Barrett. A fairly elegantly styled Montelena Estate. (ST)" (07/2019)
Starting Bid: $172.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Henri Boillot Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru ((93-96ST), 93BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Red-ruby. Knockout nose combines dark berries, violet, bacon fat, smoke and pepper; I was reminded of a t opnotch Cote-Rotie. Lush and sweet but not quite as complex as the Chambertin and Clos de Beze. This offers extraordinary finesse and smoothness for Bonnes-Mares, with perfectly integrated acidity framing the flavors without introducing any edges to the wine. Finishes extremely long and sweet, with a subtle element of smoked meat. Boillot is convinced that this wine will shut down in bottle owing to its "tannic mass." (ST)" (01/2011)
Starting Bid: $835.00

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 2009 Juslyn "Perry's Blend" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend.
Starting Bid: $215.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Bertagna Clos St-Denis Grand Cru (93W&S, 93WS). Wine Spectator: "Rich and well-oaked, with vanilla and sweet spice accents, this is rich, supple and infused with cherry. A mineral element surfaces on the finish, as does a gentle tactile sensation of fine tannins. Best from 2016 through 2033. " (06/2012)
Starting Bid: $106.00
