2008 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2008 Dom Pérignon is the first time the estate has released a wine out of order (the 2009 was released before the 2008) but the estate loved the wine so much they felt it warranted additional aging. This is a rich, powerful wine that still shows incredible purity and elegance, with a stacked, concentrated feel on the palate. It’s rare to find such a mix of ripe, pure, concentrated fruit paired with this level of purity, focus, and precision. This is a legendary Dom that surpasses all the great vintages of Dom I have experience ...

2008 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2008 Cristal is a perfect wine, and Champagne simple does not get any better. This incredible wine offers a beautiful perfume of clean, crisp fruits, layers of complexity in its toasted spice and white flowers, and an utterly seamless, yet powerful style on the palate. This is a rich, decadent expression of Cristal yet it’s still crystalline and elegant, with no sensation of weight, and it just glides over the palate. Haut Couture at its finest and this majestic, profound, legendary Cristal can be drunk anytime over the comin ...

2008 Billecart-Salmon Vintage Champagne

97 points Decanter: "A blend of 65% Pinot Noir consisting of Premier and Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims and the Vallee de la Marne and 35% Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs. Significantly, this has nine years ageing on its lees (longer than some Prestige Cuvees), the 2008 was first released onto the global market back in March 2019. With an Extra Brut dosage of 4g/l, this is a highly expressive, confident and convincing interpretation of the vintage. Right now, it is youthfully sharp and focused with fine salinity, depth, acidity and balance, an ...

2008 Lanson "Gold Label" Brut Champagne

94 points James Suckling: "This has seen more than six years of ageing in the cellar and has attractive concentration and nicely played complexity. The nose is as fresh as you'd expect from Lanson with all yellow grapefruit and lemon but some pastry too. The palate, meanwhile, has a refreshing sweep of acid-driven, lemon fruit and is super pure, fresh and long. A great-value wine here. " (10/2016) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In all probability the finest rendition of this cuvée since 1996, Lanson's 2008 Brut Vintage Gold Label is an impre ...

2008 Pol Roger "Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill" Brut Champagne

100 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the great Champagnes both for its richness and its longevity, this latest incarnation is superb. The wine's richness is linked to the ripe fruit and the dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend. It also shines in the perfect balance between the texture, the minerality and the integration of the fruit. It can be enjoyed now, but it will be better from 2020 and then for many years to come. *No. 4, Top Cellar Selections of 2018* (RV)" (12/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Released in October of last year, Pol ...

2008 Tullibardine 10 Year Old "Sovereign" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $50)

Tullibardine is a small distillery in the village of Blackford, gateway to the Highlands. Its history goes back to the 15th century as a brewery of fine beers. In fact, its first royal charter for beer was established in 1503. Its modern history as a distillery is quite a bit younger, but no less well-received. Founded as a distillery in 1949 by architect William Deelme-Evans, the distillery offers an intimate visiting experience. While the property has changed hands a number of times over the years, it has come to be a family-owned company. The Picard f ...

2008 Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame" Brut Champagne

It's a pale, pristine hue - a beautifully assembled mix of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, combining saline-wrapped orchard fruits with great Pinot Noir subtlety yet strength. THE aperitif Champagne, but also try with sea trout. 2008 Veuve Clicquot "Gold Label Reserve" Brut Champagne

93 points James Suckling: "Attractive creamy pastry notes and pithy lemon citrus fruits on offer here. There's also a gently nutty edge of autolysis, all locked in nice and fresh here. The palate's bright, crisp and has attractive fresh lemon and peach-fruit flavours. It's a really tidy and more chiselled vintage for this wine." (09/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Blanc de Blancs offers a deep, clear, fresh and complex bouquet of chalk, lemon leaves, lemon zest and concentrated yellow fruit expressions (mirabelles) that are discreet but give the background prospect ...

2008 Deanston 9 Year Old "Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Matured" Cask Strength Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The folks at Deanston in Scotland's southern Highland country are on to something! Classic Highland malt whisky aged for 9 years in former red Bordeaux casks? Of course! This one-of-a-kind gem shows just the right influence from the casks in the form stewed plum, raspberry, and mocha on the nose. The palate then leads with flavors of candied Black Forest cherries, coffee, and butterscotch, and finishes with an uplifting snap of ginger spice. There's something for everyone in this unconventional, undeniably intriguing dram!

2008 Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne

Drink from 2022. 2008 Gaston Chiquet Vintage Brut Champagne

Eight generations have passed since Nicolas CHIQUET planted his first vine in 1746. In 1919, brothers Fernand and Gaston Chiquet, winemakers born and bred, came together to create their house, Chiquet Brothers. They were pioneers in Champagne, among the very first winemakers to take the initiative (bold at the time), to keep their grapes, turn them into Champagne and sell their own product. In 1923, they were awarded their first medal in Paris, then their gold medal in Epernay. The 2008 is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, aged on the lees fo ...

2008 Domaine Tortochot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Initially there was a touch of reduction so be sure to decant this. With a few minutes of air pretty aromas of complex and cool red Pinot fruit, earth and a hint of humus give way to equally earthy medium weight flavors that possess good volume and a fine muscularity, all wrapped in a very firm but not aggressive finish. This understated effort should be lovely in a few years." (01/2011)

2008 Drappier "Grande Sendrée" Brut Champagne

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a single parcel in Urville, the 2008 Brut Grande Sendrée is exceptional, opening in the glass with incipiently rich aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, brioche, marzipan and wheat toast that seems to be on the cusp of acquiring more nutty complexity. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and tight-knit, with superb concentration and structural tension, built around racy acids and concluding with an attractively chalky finish. 2008 Domaine Tortochot Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Classic ruby. An intensely sauvage, cool and relatively airy red currant suffused nose that is also distinctly mineral-inflected leads to solidly structured and overtly muscular flavors that finish with some dryness. There appears to be more than sufficient phenolic ripeness to avoid the dryness so it's possible that there is still some unabsorbed sulfur from the bottling but otherwise, it's not clear that this is going to harmonize before it dries out. My score reflects this caution." (01/2011)

The palate is dense and citric, as if limes and lemons are squeezed on a chalky rock. The vineyards used for this cuvée have been farmed entirely biodynamic since the 2007 vintage and the wine was finished with a dosage in ’08 of 7.5 grams per liter. Sweet, open floral notes lead to tobacco, leather, anise and spices as this gorgeous Barolo shows off its class. There is more than enough fruit to balance the tannins, but the 2008 remains tight and in need of further cellaring. Still, there is so much to admire in this classy, mid-weight Barolo. Dense bluish purple to the rim, with a sensational nose of forest, flowers, graphite, and blueberry liqueur intermixed with creme de cassis and burning embers/charcoal, this wine has fabulous fruit, a remarkably full-bodied texture, great purity, and a finish that goes on for close to 50+ seconds. Pinot Noir is known as one of wine's most fickle grapes. It takes a deft hand and the right growing conditions to get it right. That winery became Williams-Selyem, and the rest is California winemaking history.
