2006 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Reserva Rioja Top Pick!
2006 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Reserva Rioja

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The red flagship 2006 Viña Tondonia Reserva was inspired by the vineyards of the Médoc but produced with local grapes, 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, which achieved 13% alcohol in 2006. It always matures in used American oak barriques for some six years. The oldest of all the reds I tasted, it was also the one with more freshness, which speaks to the quality of the vineyard. This takes the lion's share of the 400,000 bottles the winery produces, with some 220,000 bottles filled over a ...Read More »

Yet there are some serious tannins in here that build on the long elegant finish. Drink or hold." (08/2018) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Viña Bosconia Reserva, always more rustic and powerful than the Viña Tondonia, was cropped from a warm and early harvest and is a blend of Tempranillo with 15% Garnacha and 5% Graciano and Mazuelo. 2006 Isle of Jura 12 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Refill Sherry Butt Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) Top Pick!
2006 Isle of Jura 12 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Refill Sherry Butt Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The Isle of Jura is one of those incredible malts that we almost never see in the wild. Partly that's because they just don't make that much whisky. But it does seem that the owners, Whyte & Mackay, don't let go of the stuff very often. Isle of Jura has its following, but the little distillery on the sparsely populated island to the north of Islay isn't a household name by any means. The island's 200 inhabitants are vastly outnumbered by a massive population of red deer, who keep the islands vegetation from growing beyond the lowest grasses. The infertil ...Read More »

2006 Glenturret 12 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Sherry Hogshead Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

After a rocky history of on again off again production, Glenturret, one of Scotland's smallest distilleries, settled into the portfolio of The Edrington Group - owner's of The Macallan and Highland Park, among others. With this change in ownership so too came a change in the destiny of Glenturret as a single malt. In 2002 Edrington transformed the distillery into The Famous Grouse Experience. While there are official distillery releases of Glenturret, the vast majority of their production goes into the Grouse blends and, if this single cask here is any i ...Read More »

2006 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvee Louis" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (Previously $180)

96 points Decanter: "Formerly called the Prestige Blanc de Blancs, this wine was renamed after the winemaker brother of Elisabeth Salmon for the bicentenary. Both Elisabeth and her husband Nicolas François already have founder's cuvées named in their honour. From 100% grand cru fruit (5% vinified in old oak), this spends 11 years on its lees with partial malolactic fermentation, and has a 6g/l dosage. Mathieu Roland-Billecart describes it as 'Meursault with bubbles', and suggests decanting it into a carafe and enjoying it throughout a meal. It's very ric ...Read More »

Decanter: "The 2006 brings back all the wonder of classic Comtes: the innocence of a joyful childhood, a free-as-air dash through endless blue daylight and a breathless plunge into an icy mountain rock pool. A wine of coiled energy, focus, precision and minerality that bores to the very core of the finest chalkfields of the Côte des Blancs. (JR)" (01/2016)

2006 Croftengea 12 Year Old "Hepburn's Choice" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

This oddball little malt is the first Croftengea (pronounced “Croft-N-Gay”) we’ve ever seen. The heavily peated malt from the reclusive Loch Lomand distillery is easily the best thing they make. A stupendous Highland peater that definitely has some of the more woodsy earthy smoke as well as hints of briny kippers and sea spray. A gorgeous pointed citrus quality and warming fresh bread note round out this powerful yet elegant peater and solidifies it as one of the most affordable and interesting malts we’ve ever sold this year. 2006 Balmenach 11 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The Balmenach Distillery is one of Speyside's oldest. Originally licensed to James McGregor in 1824, it was likely running illicitly for years before. The distillery sits hidden behind Lethendry Hill right on the banks of the river Spey outside the town of Cromdale. The distillery has changed hands many times over the last two centuries and was mothballed on occasion as well. In 1997, the distillery was sold to current owners, Inver House, who also sell the Balblair, Old Pultney, Knockdhu, and Speyburn whiskies. All of those brands have taken center stag ...Read More »

2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Top Pick!
2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

95 points Decanter: "Tight and unyielding at the moment, but with great pedigree, great texture and definition, this has lots of life to come. Poised and impactful, with juicy and mouthwatering fruit. Punches far above the weight of the vintage, one of those get-a-straw-in-the-glass wines: among the best of the tasting. Here tension rises, and your mouth waters on the finish. This is delicate but punchy, with perfect balance. Drinking window 2018 - 2040. 2006 Felsina Vin Santo del Chianti Classico (375ml)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico represens a blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia del Chianti that is aged in small oak barrels called caratelli for seven long years. This is a beautiful expression that is not too sweet or heavy. Indeed, it offers a noticeable level of elegance and sophistication that you don't always find in this category of dessert wine from central Italy. The bouquet shows candied fruit, honey, brown sugar and grilled herb. Fèlsina produces 9,000 bottles of this wine, making it one of the bi ...Read More »

2006 Foursquare 11 Year Old "Golden Devil" Single Barrel Barbados Rum (750ml)

Foursquare Rum Distillery, St Philip, Barbados really should need no introduction. Originally set up by Reginald Leon Seale the great-great grandfather of the current Master Blender and Distiller Richard Seale, the distillery has become the byword for classic Caribbean rum. Richard Seale is an absolute iconoclast who has turned the rum world on its head. 2006 Ruinart "Dom Ruinart" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (ships as 1.5L)

97 points Vinous: "The 2006 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut is simply fabulous. In most vintages, Dom Ruinart is a big, ample Champagne that shows the structure of the Montagne de Reims Chardonnay in the blend. The 2006 has plenty of textural resonance and richness, and yet I am also struck by its tension. Both bottles I tasted point to a Dom Ruinart that is quite a bit more polished and sophisticated than it often is at this stage. 2006 Larkmead Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 4,400-case cuvee of 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (96% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc) is brilliant. It would probably be hard to find a Cabernet Sauvignon of this quality with this production level, all estate fruit, and such impeccable viticulture and winemaking. This is a Spring Mountain version of the famed Bordeaux St.-Emilion, Cheval Blanc. The wine was aged seven years sur latte prior to disgorgement. The color is quite a light salmon and the bouquet is flat out stunning, jumping from the glass in an exuberant blend of fraises du bois, white cherries, a complex base of chalky soil tones, brioche, a whisper of fresh nutmeg, dried rose petals and a bit of smokiness on the breeze in the upper reg ...Read More »

2006 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Fuller and sweeter in the middle but at the same time more perfumed, with redder fruit flavors complemented by game and leather. Almost viscous for a Corison wine but not at all alcoholic. 2006 Kirwan, Margaux

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "The new wood flavors on this wine are becoming well integrated with the velvet fruit textures. The tannins are now an adjunct to the fruit, which shows fresh spice and sweetness. It is becoming a fine, balanced wine, delicate and perfumed. (RV)" (03/2009) 90 points Wine Spectator: "There's lovely fruit in this wine, with berry, chocolate and plum aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. 2006 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "The character of this wine, a straight line of tannins and black currant fruit flavors, is the model of a classic Pauillac. It has all the structure as well as some austerity and severity at this stage in its development. But the fruit texture is rich enough, dried fruits and spice followed by licorice and bitter chocolate. Age for five years at least. *Cellar Selection* " (03/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is no longer an insider’s secret that the investments made by the Rothschild family (of Lafite) in ...Read More »

(JS)" (03/2009) 90 points James Suckling: "Aromas of currants and dark berries with hints of minerals. Full body with super-integrated tannins and a slightly austere and intense tannin backbone.
