2004 Fettercairn 14 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) Top Pick!
2004 Fettercairn 14 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The tumultuous ownership history of Fettercairn has been in part responsible for the lack of brand recognition. While it has long been bottled as a single malt, it has never gained much notoriarty that way and has found the bulk of its stocks end up in blends, most recently for Whyte and Mackay. An interesting production set up, particularly from 1995 to 2009 when they used stainless steel condensers, has lent itself to a nutty and heavy style to the malt. Fortunately for K&L drinkers, this 14 year old whisky has taken that natural style and matured into ...Read More »

Kopke is known for their terrific tawnies and beautiful vintage dates tawnies, or colehitas. This particular colheita shows off bright and lifted sweet red fruit aromas as well as spicy, candied citrus rinds. 2004 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan

95 points Wine & Spirits: "The fineness of Chevalier's tannin is matched by the nobility of the fruit, a Cabernet that rides high across the palate, then lasts as a deep chord of flavor. The integration of the tannin and firm, currantlike fruit creates the wine's beauty for now, compelling for its balance of freshness and concentration. Sleek and dry as the stones in which it grows, this has lasting fruit richness for a long life ahead." 2004 Bollinger "R.D." Extra Brut Champagne

98 points Wine & Spirits: "Time has graced this wine, proving the value of Bollinger’s policy of long aging on the lees followed by prompt release after disgorgement. This RD (Recently Disgorged) 2004 is a joyous wine, staunch, cold and powerful at first, transforming to fresh fruit shadowed by darker tones of barrel fermentation. As it opens in the glass, revealing racy energy, a range of floral pear and apple flavors emerge, resonant with a sense of limestone capturing the sun and reflecting it back in pale power. Enjoy this over the course of an eveni ...Read More »

2004 Domaine de Cristia "Renaissance" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more dense and concentrated, with beautiful mid-palate density and depth (no doubt from the Mourvedre), the 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Renaissance (60% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, aged in 25% new French oak) boast stunning notes of blackberry, cassis, licorice, spice-box, white chocolate and roasted garrigue. Full-bodied, rich and thrillingly textured, with a un-2004-like hedonistic appeal, it will continue to dish out loads of pleasure over the coming decade. (JD)" (02/2014)

2004 Charles Heidsieck "Blanc des Millénaires" Brut Champagne

95 points Decanter: "This 2004 constitutes only the fifth edition of this special bottling that has earned an outstanding reputation, coming after 1983, 1985, 1990 and the superlative 1995. The Chardonnay for this blanc de blancs comes from the five famous terroirs of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Vertus. It has powerful aromatic complexity with minty, floral and mineral elements, while the dense, generous yet silky texture is supported by finely-judged acidity. This is a character-driven Champagne that should pair wel ...Read More »

2004 Krug Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "This is an extremely fresh edition and remains in a restrained mode with an intense serve of Chardonnay's lemon citrus dominating the nose alongside lime zest, bright florals, grassy elements, fresh dough, white stones and very subtle background spice. The palate has a svelte and elegant shape. Smoother than the 2002, it shares the same quality of precision but not the raging power of that vintage. The poise is unquestionable, the wine very reserved, with plenty of lemon-infused citrus flavors, hints of fresh cashew and a lot o ...Read More »

2004 Pavie, St-Emilion

96 points Wine & Spirits: "A conspicuously modern wine, Pavie with its hyper-ripe fruit and substantial new oak treatment stands out as an offense to some, a glorious pleasure to others. In the case of the 2004, it carries the oak beautifully, untamed by it. The wine is wild, in fact, and quite hard to resist. The cool complexity of the tannins grows out of three terroirs: the limestone plateau, a sector of gravel and limestone and a third sector of clay. The fruit opens with thick-skinned black plum power, reverberating with feral scents and violets. St ...Read More »

2004 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

100 points Wine Enthusiast: "A perfect score has to be considered in the context of its region. Shafer’s 2004 Hillside Select is tremendous as a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that competes with its peers at the highest levels. It’s always a fabulous wine, but in warm 2004, Shafer’s amphitheater vineyard sheltered the grapes, ripening them to perfection yet protecting the “iron fist in a velvet glove” structure that André Tchelistcheff defined as Stags Leap. This 100% Cabernet is tremendous in cassis, black currant and mocha flavors, and the 100% new Fre ...Read More »

Its dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by classic aromas of scorched earth, sweet black currants, cherries, and a hint of pain grille. Light on its feet, but substantially flavored, it possesses stunning purity, good acidity, ripe tannin, and abundant flavor as well as length. The Transcontinental Rum Line is fast becoming one of the most important rum brands. (JS)" (03/2007) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing better out of bottle than it did from cask, this brilliant terroir has produced an elegant, dense ruby-colored, medium-bodied 2004 (2,666 cases) with complex aromatics of raspberries, blueberries, crushed rocks, and spring flowers. 2004 Darioush "Signature" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Darioush Khaledi has proven to be the master of the rich, fleshy, full-bodied style, and once again, his winery delivers a bottling with a virtually unrivalled combination of intensity, drama and hedonistic pleasure. In its youth, the wine is at once both open and brooding, and its invitingly sensual aromas and flavors, while seeming to ask for early enjoyment, are far from fully developed. 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Les Pavots is ripe and is a relatively similar blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice. It is strikingly more tannic, and closed compared to the 2005, which is almost the reverse of the vintage character. It is sourced from a single vineyard on the estate of which 60% is Grenache and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Carignan aged in 100% new French oak. Overtly creamy, silken, and rich on the palate, but possessed as well of a distinctive sense of underlying stony mineral density, it scarcely betrays its 60 grams of residual sugar. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94W&S, 93ST, 93VN, 92RP). Wine & Spirits: "Ridge grows one of the most distinctive Cabernets in California at its Monte Bello estate. This vintage represents a selection of 38 percent of the crop, which itself had been naturally restricted by lower than average rainfall, particularly in winter. Ridge doesn't irrigate these vines-nor do they inoculate the juice to start fermentation, which yielded a modest 13.2 percent alcohol in 2004. The fractured limestone in the soil provided just enough moisture to grow this elegant cabernet, with flavors of wild black cherries and black currants. It feels balanced and firm, dense while weightless, a beauty that will mature for two decades from the vintage, perhaps longer." (12/2007)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95WE, 94CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The two flagship wines of this brilliant estate, which straddles the Sonoma and Napa county lines at the top of Spring Mountain, include the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot). Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background. Full-bodied, opulent, profound deep, rich and full with velvety edges, the tannin can be detected, but it is wonderfully integrated in this mountain-styled Cabernet. It continues Pride’s impressive track record with these special cuvees. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve can be drunk young or cellared for two decades or more. More nuances and complexity will undoubtedly emerge over the next 4-5 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

2004 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Back In Stock!
2004 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This boutique blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec is a broodingly backward, formidably endowed, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal style of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2004’s 15.5% alcohol is well-concealed by the wine’s wealth of fruit and glycerin. This full-bodied beauty is black as a moonless night. It exhibits abundant notes of plums, blackberries and creme de cassis as well as nicely integrated wood, acidity and tannin. It will offer an impeccable well-made, stunningly rich, compl ...Read More »

2004 Penfolds "Bin 707" Cabernet Sauvignon South Australia

96 points James Halliday: "Much more generous and appealing than Bin 407 at first acquaintance; luscious blackcurrant fruit, and seamless oak and tannins; great mouthfeel." (03/2007) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon “Bin 707” is one of the Penfolds’ flagship wines. It was aged for 15 months in 100% new American oak. Opaque purple/black, it exhibits a classic Cabernet nose of cedar, tobacco, spice box, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. Medium-bodied (13.5% alcohol) but dense and concentrated, with tons of black ...Read More »

2004 Pride Mountain "Summit Ranch—Premiere Napa Valley" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Pride Mountain "Summit Ranch—Premiere Napa Valley" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Premiere Napa Valley lots are incredibly limited, one-off bottlings from some of the region’s top producers. Only five cases of this bottling were produced. Winery Notes: "In 1890, a stone winery was built on the 220 acres that is now known as Pride Mountain Vineyards. In this cuvée we honor our historical connection to those who worked these fields before us, and Jim Pride's vision that brought us to steward this land and produce these exceptional wines."
