2002 York Creek Estate "Horseshoe Block" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The impressive 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Horseshoe boasts a dense purple color as well as a beautiful nose of blueberries, black currants, smoke, and a hint of vanilla. The wine has impressive fruit on the attack, medium to full body, and a broad, savory, dense style with good definition and purity. (RP)" (12/2005) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "At York Creek we have a small block of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted entirely to the legendary "La Questra" clone of Cabernet. 2002 York Creek Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

After the last few years just about everyone has heard us pontificating about just how good, and how insanely inexpensive, the York Creek wines are. Luckily for us and our thirsty customers Fritz Maytag kept deep cellars over the years and still has plenty of wine for us to sell. After the rousing success of past vintages we just keep reloading because the wines are that good and you keep asking us for more. Maytag (Of Anchor Steam beer fame) has farmed the property since 1968, selling grapes from his 125-acre mountain vineyard to many outstanding names ...

2002 Piper-Heidsieck "Cuvée Rare" Brut Champagne

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A gorgeous wine that's a legend in the making, the 2002 Rare Brut is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, with just under 10 grams of dosage. Offering incredible notes of stone fruits, brioche, white flowers, and hints of toasted nuts, this flat out awesome wine is concentrated and opulent, yet still dances on the palate with vibrant acidity and great, great finish. It's going to drink beautifully for another two to three decades. Bravo! This cuvee has only been made in 1976, 1979, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1998, 1999, 2002, and ...

2002 Darioush "Signature" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fuller, more complete 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon displays a more opaque ruby/purple color along with notions of spice box, smoky oak, black currants, white chocolate and charcoal. With outstanding fruit and purity as well as a full-bodied texture, this youthful 2002 should age nicely for another 10-15 years. (RP)" (06/2012) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "There is no want of intensity or sheer volume here, and at every point this extravagantly oaked opus leads with deep and well-formed curranty fruit. 2002 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne Late Release (Direct from Roederer 2019)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Roederer's 2002 Cristal is a fabulous wine! Originally released in 2009, it was re-released in March this year—and was sold out in a very short time. The Cristal I tasted at Roederer in May 2018 was disgorged in 2010, after seven years sur lie. Its amazing richness and concentration makes it a forerunner of the 2015 and follows the 1999. Only two times—2002 and 2015—the fruit from all 42 plots reserved for Cristal was used for the Cristal. "I couldn't do any better blend than the one assembling all the 42 plots," ...

2002 Elderton "Command" Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa Valley

95 points James Halliday: "Good colour; excellent focus, balance and length; blackberry fruit with lashings of dark chocolate and spice; ripe tannins, controlled oak." (07/2011) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stunning effort, the 2002 Shiraz Command exhibits an inky/blue/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of camphor, blueberries, blackberries, acacia flowers, and smoky, toasty oak. Full-bodied, opulent, and viscous, with huge, but sweet tannin, decent acidity, and a muscular, long, 40+ second finish, this is a classic, potentially lon ...

2002 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tightly knit and backward, the 2002 Martha’s Vineyard offers hints of black cherries, black currants, earth, new saddle leather and spice box. Full-bodied, dense and concentrated as well as high in tannin, this youthful effort no longer reveals this cuvee’s famous eucalyptus aroma, but it does not lack for power, richness or aging potential. 2002 Frank Family "Reserve" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft, ripe and totally voluptuous, showing gorgeously ripe fruit and tannins. Seductive and delicious. Doesn't seem built for the long haul, but defines Rutherford's red stone fruit, and slightly earthy appeal. " (09/2006) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "No such issue exists with the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Reserve. 2002 Pride Mountain Napa-Sonoma Counties Merlot

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Full and delicious, Pride's Merlot achieves a balanced ripeness at the mountaintop border of Napa and Sonoma counties. The wine has density of fruit while it retains a spot-on varietal identity, a flavor of black cherry and rose petal jam. Tannins amplify the richness with a chocolate warmth, evenly meshed with the fruit across the palate." (06/2005) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "What a fabulous Merlot. 2002 Calera "Jensen" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir

It feels full and complete, despite the elegantly light silkiness in the mouth, and the crisp acids and dusty tannins that frame cherry, cola, rhubarb, pomegranate, coffee and vanilla spice flavors. Enjoyable now, this wine thankfully strikes a different direction from today’s heavy, overly ripe Pinots." 2002 Kay Brothers "Amery Hillside" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A glorious example of South Australian Shiraz is the 2002 Shiraz Hillside. Made from relatively young vines (8-34 years of age), this flamboyant, pleasant 2002 is impossible to resist. Already rocking and rolling, it has 10-15 years of aging potential. A deep plum/ruby/purple hue is followed by glorious aromas of black fruits, flowers, dusty, loamy, truffle-like scents, and a classic combination of pepper and licorice. 2002 Davis Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvginon

Connoisseurs Guide: "Hinting at a bit of root-beer sweetness and a touch of tobacco while conveying a convincing sense of youthful Cabernet fruit, this slightly mouthfilling effort makes a good start on the palate before taking a turn to dryness and edgy tannins. Its fruitiness turns out to be a little more short-lived than we would like, but it should show a more friendly face if set aside for a few further years of softening." (12/2005)

2002 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The addition of fruit from estate hillside vineyards and the blending of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with the Cabernet Sauvignon are responsible for the well integrated flavors, deep color and full mouth feel of the 2002 vintage. The bouquet is highlighted with aromas of cassis, black cherry and dark chocolate, with undertones of sweet tobacco and cedar. 2002 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

Alfred Tesseron is making excellent wine nearly every year now. One of the few 2002s better than 2001. (JS)" (03/2005) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "asted at Bordeaux Index’s Pontet-Canet dinner at The Ledbury. The palate is balanced with ripe honeyed fruit, orange rind and a touch of Seville orange marmalade. Nice taut finish with good acidity, the mineralite compensating for a lack of depth. This Bordeaux-like, rich, inky/purple-colored effort (500 cases; 16.2% alcohol) boasts a voluptuous texture, huge body, and spectacular characteristics of blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis, scorched earth, violets, and a hint of pepper. It has an unctuous texture, a full-bodied, multidimensional mouthfeel, stunning purity and a youthfulness that belies its ten years of age.
