1990 L'Encantada 27 Year Old "Domaine le Parre #18" Tenarèze Armagnac (750ml) Top Pick!
1990 L'Encantada 27 Year Old "Domaine le Parre #18" Tenarèze Armagnac (750ml)

The unusual Domaine Le Parre is the first producer in Tenarèze to be uncovered by the crew at L'Encantada. This is a beautiful little estate situated on a plateau, which boasts boulbène soils and was planted to mostly Baco with a small percentage of Ugni Blanc. The domaine stopped cultivating vines in 1995 and was famous for having a giant barrel fashioned from an old train car. While the domaine's eau-de-vie were top notch, the heavier clay soils resulted in eau-de-vie that need extra time to truly become expressive. But after about 20 years, it's clear ...Read More »

1990 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan

93 points Wine Spectator: "Serious wine. Dark ruby color, with blackberry, earth and truffle character. Full-bodied and very polished, with fine tannins and a long, rich, fruity finish. I underrated this years ago. (JS) " (08/2000) 92 points John Gilman: "The 1990 Haut Bailly is an excellent example of the vintage, but at the present time the wine remains still quite closed and in need of a few more years in the cellar to really reach its zenith. The nose is already offering up a lovely nose of cassis, dark berries, Cuban cigar smoke, gravel, fresh her ...Read More »

1990 Port Dundas 28 Year Old "Sovereign" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) Top Pick!
1990 Port Dundas 28 Year Old "Sovereign" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml)

Built in 1811, Port Dundas grew throughout the 19th and early 20th century, by absorbing neighboring producers, it quickly became Scotland's largest distillery. During its long history on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgow, this grain whisky powerhouse provided much of the juice for the Johnnie Walker and White Horse blended whiskies. With Diageo's expansion and modernization of Cameronbridge in the early 2000's, production at Port Dundas ceased, and in 2011 the landmark site was completely demolished. That closure makes this 28 year old s ...Read More »

1990 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion Back In Stock!
1990 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium to deep brick in color, the 1990 Clos de Sarpe opens with notions of chanterelles, moss-covered tree bark, dusty earth and sandalwood over a core of dried cherries and plums plus a touch of new leather. Softly textured in the full-bodied mouth, the palate displays great richness and depth, with the long, compelling finish revealing a gustatory exercise in mineralogy. (LPB)" (05/2018)

Full-bodied and lightly sweet, with a ginger and dried citrus finish. (JS)" (08/2000) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted as part of a vertical held at the chateau. 1990 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine continues to develop impressively in the bottle. While not one of the vintage's blockbusters, it possesses all the classic elegance, fragrance, and harmony one expects of a high quality Margaux. The color remains a healthy dark ruby with a purple hue. The nose offers up lush, sweet, jammy black currant fruit intermixed with aromas of white flowers, spice, and a touch of smoky oak. It is medium-bodied, with a savory, expansive mouthfeel. This low acid, rich, multi-layered wine is approachable, yet capabl ...Read More »

1990 Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A complex nose of earth, leather, game and very ripe, in fact hints of over ripe pinot fruit leading to still firmly structured flavors are underpinned by curiously dusty, chalky tannins with outstanding length. In many '90s, the fruit will never outlast the structure but here the tannins are integrated with the sappy and mouth coating flavors and finish. The only nit is that the wood is not subtle and while not dominant, if it hasn't melted into the essence of the wine by now, it probably will always display a trac ...Read More »

It's a wine with perfect structure, perfect strength. It's 1961 Latour in modern clothes. It's hard not to drink it now. (JS)" (02/2005) 98-99 points James Suckling: "The quality of the tannins and density of fruit is truly beautiful. This is so focused, with purity and beauty. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 offers a forward, smoky, sweet oaky nose intertwined with bold and lavish aromas of blackcurrants. 1990 Ravenswood "Pickberry" Sonoma Mountain Bordeaux Blend

It has a minty nose intermingled with aromas of sweet cassis. 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (99RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extraordinary effort, Yquem's 1990 is a rich and fabulously superb, sweet wine. This wine also possesses lots of elegance and finesse. The wine's medium gold color is accompanied by an exceptionally sweet nose of honeyed tropical fruits, peaches, coconut, and apricots. High quality, subtle toasty oak is well-integrated. The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-bodied power and richness have created a wine of remarkable harmony and purity. Certainly it is one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity. An awesome Yquem! Anticipated maturity: 2003-2050+. (RP)" (04/1999)

However, this represents the finest bottle that I have encountered. The nose is complex with red cherries, allspice and sous-bois, tertiary scents developing as it opens in the glass. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this is a very different blend to the 1986 due to vineyard acquisitions. It is almost a decade since the 1990 blew me away whilst dining at Mouton in my 'buying' days and by 2013 it has retained that wondrous bouquet of blackberry, kirsch, fresh mint and leather. The expansive 1990, which has had 15% Merlot added, is a near-termer, with low acidity, satiny smooth, rich flavors, and gobs of toffee, mocha, and cassis in its bouquet. Now that the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages have had some time in the bottle, it appears that the light to medium gold colored 1990 may be the most complete and botrysized among this trio of exceptional wines from Raymond-Lafon. 1990 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1990 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Le Pavilion is as compelling as the 1989. It exhibits slightly less opulence, but more power and weight. Black colored, with an extraordinary perfume of licorice, sweet blackcurrants, smoke, and minerals, it coats the palate with layer upon layer of decadently rich, superconcentrated, nearly viscous Syrah flavors. There is amazing glycerin, a chewy, unctuous texture, and phenomenal length. The tannins, which are considerable when analyzed, are virtually obscured by the massive quantities of fruit. I hope I live to see the day when Chapoutier's 1990 Ermitage Le Pavilion, Chave's 1990 Hermitage, and Jaboulet's 1990 Hermitage La Chapelle are fully mature! What a trio of wines these three producers have produced from this historic appellation! The Mars distillery is very well regarded in Japan and is easily considered the "super third" after the famous Suntory and Nikka distilleries. 1990 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion (1.5L) Back In Stock!
