1987 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Reserva Rioja

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Closing in on its 25th birthday, this wine has gone a little insane in the bottle. Drink it just after opening and you’ll think it’s a bit of a refined old lady, rich, toasty and oaky, but starting to fray at the edges, the weave of its light tannins and firm acidity a little loose. The wine comes back together with several hours of air, however, and gains freshness over the course of a day, transforming into a wild, vivid beauty in its prime, the acidity and tannins merged into a vibrant salted caramel flavor with subtle flora ...

1987 L'Encantada 30 Year Old "Del Cassou #14" Bas-Armagnac (750ml) (Previously $120)

Independent bottler L'Encantada understands what Armagnac lovers want because that's exactly what they are. This group of Armagnac loving friends realized that some of the region's small estates were throwing away legendary eau-de-vie to blends made by the big negociants. They offered those estates a premium to retain the stocks for bottling as single casks at full strength. Many of these estates had neither bottled Armagnac nor had any interest in marketing their precious eau-de-vie. But, our friends at L'Encantada realized that the soul of Armagnac exi ...

1987 Strathclyde 30 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $120)

What began as a neutral spirit facility in 1927 to produce buckets of gin has grown into one of the most successful grain whisky operations on the planet. Starting in '57 it also discreetly housed a malt facility going by the name of Kinclaith for nearly 20 years before being converted to focus exclusively on grain whisky. While historically some of the distillate would end up in Ballantine's and Teacher's blended whiskies, the distillery is owned today by Chivas Brothers. The grain production is wheat based, giving this 30 year old whisky an amazingly s ...

1987 William Hill "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Wine Spectator: "**#13 on the Top 100 Wines of 1990** A rich core of focused, concentrated currant, black cherry and plum flavors balances beautifully with finely integrated tannins, marking this as a potentially magnificent wine with cellaring until 1995 to 2000. Has the muscle and grace to evolve into a majestic wine, even though it has the fruit to drink now." (11/1990) Vinous: "The 1987 William Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was open, accessible and delicate, but not complex. (AG)" (02/2012)

1987 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Chateau Montelena has made so many sensational Cabernets that it seems almost impossible to believe that their 1987 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate could be even more profound than any of the exceptional wines made previously at this property. The black/purple color, the extraordinary bouquet of rich cassis, violets, and licorice, the massive extraction of flavors, sensational depth, super ripeness, and a length that must last over a minute, suggest to me that this is easily the most concentrated and potentially longes ...

1987 Girard "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Spectator: "Pleasantly fruity, with intense ripe black cherry and currant flavors that have a spicy oak edge. Tannic, but with good depth of flavor. Strong fruit flavors come through on the finish." (11/1991)

1987 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, which spends significant time in oak, can be one of California's most riveting wines. First made in 1975, there have been some exceptionally concentrated, powerful wines that are still young and evolving....the 1987 is still an excellent wine with its rich, oaky, cassis and spicy nose, creamy-textured, medium to full-bodied flavors, and moderately long finish....Few wineries in the world can boast such an enviable record of consistent excellence as that of Caymus. There is no doubt ...

1987 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1987 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest". From importer Rare Wine Co.: "Since 1931, Dauvissat has been selling wine under their own label and they remain one of Chablis’ great traditionalists. As the torch has been passed down from generation to generation, little has changed here—the practices are still classic and remarkably similar to those used chez Raveneau. If anything, the wines have become increasingly profound since Vincent Dauvissat joined his father, René, in the 1970s. Vincent prefers natural farming, using vine treatments sparingly, if at all. The fruit is harvested by hand and not de-stemmed; fermentation is part in enameled steel vats and part in wood, and all aging is in six to eight-year-old barrels.Dauvissat has always aged their wines in barrel, believing that this allows the wine to breathe during the élévage. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously and only the winter cold is used to precipitate tartrates. René &
