1982 Cambus 35 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) Top Pick!
1982 Cambus 35 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The Cambus distillery is easily one of the best grains out there. The large facility just to the north of the River Forth has been converted to a cooperage and connects to Diageo's the massive Blackgrange warehousing facility. That's why it's so tragic that Diageo mothballed the distillery in 1993. Its right around 30 years of age that Cambus begins to take on a complexity that made the great old blends (like Johnnie Blue) so well loved across the world. This is absolutely decadent stuff. Grain whisky, which was once written off by aficionados, is becomi ...Read More »

1982 L'Encantada 35 Year Old "Les Bidets #3" Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

Independent bottler L'Encantada understands what Armagnac lovers want because that's exactly what they are. This group of Armagnac loving friends realized that some of the region's small estates were throwing away legendary eau-de-vie to blends made by the big negociants. They offered those estates a premium to retain the stocks for bottling as single casks at full strength. Many of these estates had neither bottled Armagnac nor had any interest in marketing their precious eau-de-vie. But, our friends at Encantada realized that the soul of Armagnac exist ...Read More »

1982 Belair, St-Emilion

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For over a decade I have questioned which is the better vintage of Belair, the forward soft yet powerful 1983 or the more structured, exotic 1982. I am still not sure. Certainly the 1982 has emerged from its 'ugly duckling' stage and is beginning to reveal some mushroomy, leathery notes intermingled with scents of sweet black fruits, herbs, and minerals. The complex nose is followed by a wine with very good concentration. Although noticeably hard tannin is still in evidence, this is a nicely extracted, traditionally made S ...Read More »

1982 Larrivet-Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

According to Robert Parker: "Larrivet-Haut-Brion is well-known in European wine circles but is rarely seen in America. The vineyard, located in the southern section of Graves near Leognan, is adjacent to that of the much more famous Haut-Bailly..." (Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition) 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot.

1982 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no question that Leoville Poyferre was not making wines at the level of quality they have since 1990. That said, the 1982 is a great wine, no doubt because of the vintage rather than the winemaking at that time. A brilliant effort, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a sweet, flowery bouquet revealing plenty of creme de cassis, plum, and cherry notes, stunning concentration, a boatload of power, sweet tannins (the sweetest and easiest to taste among the St.-Juliens), and a long finish. Although clo ...Read More »

1982 L'Arrosée, St-Emilion

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was tasted from magnum as it is the only format I have left in the cellar. Some noticeable bricking and amber at the edge are followed by stunning aromatics of loamy soil, underbrush, kirsch, and oak as well as floral undertones. There are no hard edges to be found in this silky wine, just plush notes of jammy black cherries, plums, figs, earth, and spice. Broad and full-bodied with fully melted tannins, good minerality, and a long finish, this is one of the finest l’Arrosees ever made. It has been mature fo ...Read More »

1982 Angélus, St-Emilion

Wine Spectator: "Medium-garnet in color, with a ruby center. Pretty floral, berry and dried cherry aromas. Medium-bodied, with tobacco and fruit flavors. (JS)" (11/1998) K&L Notes: A five star vintage, and "A great year for both Pomerol and St.Emilion," according to Decanter. Critics have noted that the 1982 Angélus, however, represents the château's earlier style, before changes in production were made in the mid-1980s.

1982 La Fleur-Petrus, Pomerol

96 points Wine Spectator: "A massive wine, traditional in style but amazing. Like a great '47. Inky in color, with an amber edge. Extremely ripe, with mineral, berry, cherry, meat and pepper. Big and burly, with full velvety tannins. Still needs time. (JS)" (11/1998) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Pebbles/Zachy’s 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. It is many years since I have encountered the La Fleur-Petrus 1982. Here it has a gorgeous bouquet of mulberry, sous-bois, salted liquorice and black truffle and later with time more tertiary arom ...Read More »

1982 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (soiled label)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Whilst I enjoyed several bona fide perfect examples of the 1982 Château Pichon Lalande in the late nineties, my most recent encounters imply that these years were its peak. Nevertheless, it remains a brilliant, benchmark wine that continues to give a great deal of pleasure. This bottle, of perfect provenance, was captivating on the nose - still youthful and jam-packed with very pure and intense black and red fruit, mixed with cedar and graphite notes that ebb away as the Merlot component takes over and delivers s ...Read More »

1982 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien

96 points Decanter: "Again, the iron filings and bloody flesh of an older Cabernet. This has a little more force but a little less grace than some others in the line-up. It is a beautiful wine with stunning concentration, but I miss some lift through the body. Still incredible integrity of colour, these wines have got decades left in them. Wild strawberries, ripe figs and damsons on the palate, the tannins do soften with coaxing in the glass, revealing some cigar box and leather aromatics. (JA)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This huge wine i ...Read More »

95 points James Suckling: "This shows intense aromas of mint, lead pencil and currants that follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a finish with tension and freshness. " (10/2012) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This vintage was a modern benchmark for the estate. Intense aromas and flavors of berry, currant, mint and light toasty oak. Full, round and refined, with a long, long finish. Gorgeous. Drinking beautifully. 1982 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion Back In Stock!
1982 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion

96 points John Gilman: "The bouquet is unmistakably Cheval, with scents of black cherries, bell pepper, dark chocolate, menthol, tobacco, herbs, espresso and vanillin oak wafting from the glass. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, black fruity, and totally dense at the center, with excellent structure and delineation, great length and grip, and a fair bit of ripe, well-integrated tannin framing the finish. This is very elegant and only medium-full on the palate today (in notable contrast to its thick, luxurious and voluptuous youth), with great ...Read More »

1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS, 97DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2050+ (RP)" (06/2009)

1982 Beychevelle, St-Julien

94 points John Gilman: "The 1982 Beychevelle is still quite young and primary from magnum, but its ultimate quality is very much in evidence. The nose is deep, ripe and sappy, as it offers up scents of black cherries, cassis, a touch of eucalyptus, smoke, nutskins, a beautiful base of soil, cigar wrappers and a floral topnote redolent of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite big for Beychevelle, with a plush core of perfectly ripe fruit, suave, but substantial tannins, lovely nascent complexity and outstanding length and grip on ...Read More »

1982 Trotanoy, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Trotanoy, Pomerol (97JS, 97RP, 96JG, 95DC, 94ST, 94VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Trotanoy dinner at Sketch in London. This bottle of 1982 Trotanoy repeats the performance of the one served at Zachys 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. It has a wonderful Merlot-scented bouquet that is floral and exuberant, though intriguingly it develops more Cabernet Franc/meaty aromas with continued aeration. It becomes rounded and sensual with roasted chestnuts emerging with time. The palate has a sweet entry, as one would expect for this vintage. It is plush, smooth and rounded in the mouth with dark plum and mulberry notes, a saline tincture and that chestnut motif continuing right to the youthful finish. After 30 years, this still has many years ahead. Tasted September 2012. (NM)" (06/2017)

1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (98RP, 96VN, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A massive wine that is clearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purple color offers up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux’s I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodied, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singularly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. Anticipated maturity: now-2050. 1982 Guigal "La Landonne" Côte Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Guigal "La Landonne" Côte Rôtie (95JD, 95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For such a precocious vintage, the 1982 La Landonne remains a backward, beefy, smoky, chewy mouthful of tannic wine. It has thrown a huge amount of sediment, and the bottle is completely stained, as if it were a 15-year-old vintage port. The wine reveals an olive, earthy, licorice, mineral, smoked-meat nose, fabulous depth, and a huge, formidably endowed personality. It is a monstrous, super concentrated wine that should reach its apogee by the turn of the century. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025." (01/1997)

1982 L'Evangile, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1982 L'Evangile, Pomerol (98RP, 97JS, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blockbuster, dark plum/garnet-colored wine, the 1982 L’Evangile reveals a decadent, extravagantly rich nose of caramelized fruit, plum, licorice, smoked meats, and toffee. This opulent, full-bodied Pomerol caresses the palate with layers and layers of glycerin and fruit. The tannin is barely noticeable in this massive, rich, gorgeous effort. The complexity of the nose alone is worth a special admission price. It is close to full maturity, and is capable of lasting another 20-25 years. (RP)" (06/2009)

1982 Chateau de Lacaze Bas-Armagnac (Elsewhere $190) New!
1982 Chateau de Lacaze Bas-Armagnac (Elsewhere $190)

This early landed specialty was imported to Bristol by Howell's and bottled in 1998. It's a very rare example of early landed armagnac from a producer who is not well known outside of the region. The brandy was aged in the damp cellars on England's damp western coast. The result is this wonderful and unusual expression of single estate Bas-Armagnac.
