1981 Domaine Boingnères Folle Blanche Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

98 points Vinous: "One of the finest examples of 100% Folle Blanche in all of Armagnac. This 31-year-old is light copper, with a complex floral bouquet of rose and almond blossom along with aromas of fig and candied orange that roll onto the palate, developing seamlessly into gingerbread on the midpalate and finishing fresh with notes of mint and licorice and that go on forever. Pretty, delicate, yet still dense and intense. A beautiful spirit that justifies its price. (Bas-Armagnac, 48% abv.) - Jason Wilson" (08/2018) K&L Notes: When discussing the co ...Read More »

1981 Viña Salceda Gran Reserva Rioja (base neck fills)

Viña Salceda produced some fine wines back in the day, and this bottling from the classic, higher acidity 1981 vintage has been drinking well for a little while, enjoying the famously long Rioja drinking plateau. A great combination of earthy savor and fruit, this would make a fine celebratory bottle.

1981 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1981 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (92JG). John Gilman: "For drinking at the present time, it is hard not to love the more middleweight vintage of 1981 at Pichon-Lalande. The wine is at its absolute apogee of peak drinkability at the present time, wafting from the glass in a beautiful and quite classic aromatic blend of sweet cassis, cigar wrapper, gravelly soil tones, a touch of chipotle pepper, cigar ash and a whisper of merlot-derived sweet herb in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, fullish and utterly suave on the attack, with a fine core, lovely focus and grip, melting tannins and impeccable balance on the long and complex finish. A lovely vintage of Pichon. (Drink between 2016-2035) " (07/2016)
