Bid on this bottle of 1978 Joseph Phelps "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96JG, 96RP, 94VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine is still black/purple in color, with a blossoming bouquet of minerals, cassis, flowers, and oak. In the mouth, it is phenomenally concentrated, amazingly youthful, and in need of at least another 7-10 years of cellaring. While this monumental effort from Phelps should prove to be one of California's greatest wines, owners of it will need to exercise some patience. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020. (RP)" (04/1992)
Starting Bid: $460.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1978 Ridge Vineyards "York Creek" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90JG). John Gilman: "The 1978 Ridge York Creek cabernet sauvignon is a good, solid example of the vintage, with plenty of depth and stuffing, but just a touch of brett that keeps its score down a bit. The bouquet is a black fruity blend of cassis, dark berries, saddle leather, cigar ash, stony minerality and a topnote of dried eucalyptus. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and now nicely resolved on the attack, with a good core, fine soil signature and a long, well-balanced and gently chewy finish. There is a sturdiness to the structure of this wine that seems likely to always be part of its equation, but the wine is very nicely balanced, complex and drinks very well at the present time. This most recent bottle at our October tasting showed even better than one I had and wrote up four years ago. " (01/2017)
Starting Bid: $321.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1978 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92WS, 90RP, 90VN). Wine Spectator: "Dark, ripe and spicy, with a core of chocolate and currant, plum and cherry. Has reached a fine drinking plateau, with complex, concentrated flavors that are rich and sharply focused. Finishes with firm tannins, but it still shows lots of life. (JL)" (11/1998)
Starting Bid: $215.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1978 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature aromas of roasted herbs, red and blackcurrants and cherries intertwined with caramel and spice notes. Dense, rich, and full-bodied, with a velvety texture and gobs of spicy oak, this high alcohol, lusty-styled Cabernet Sauvignon offers a compelling glass of delicious wine. (RP)" (06/1995)
Starting Bid: $340.00
