1976 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lacking the concentration and character of the best years, this wine is, nevertheless, highly successful for the vintage. The color is medium ruby, with some brown and amber at the edges. A gentle, suave, interesting, mature bouquet, and soft, round, curranty flavors have provided pleasure since the late seventies. Yet the wine refuses to fade. Still at its peak....Last tasted, 2/88. (Bordeaux Book, 1998)" (01/1998) Wine Spectator: "Holding on very well for a '76, and delicious to boot. Brick-ruby in color, with rose pet ...

1976 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru

Tracing their history back to 1365, Domaine des Lambrays holds nearly all of the famous Clos des Lambrays vineyard. Ownership of the Domaine changed hands many times since the French Revolution. Although the vineyard was given Premier Cru classification in 1936, the wines produced in the thirties and forties have long been hailed as legendary by critics. The vineyard was promoted to Grand Cru in 1981, so many older bottles have been relabeled to reflect that change.

1976 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (high-to-mid shoulder fill, lightly scuffed label)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium to dark ruby with some browning at the edges, this wine is approaching maturity and exhibits an interesting, moderately intense bouquet of ripe plums, spicy oak, and leather... I must say that the wine's evolution has been much slower than I would have suspected." (01/1998)

1976 Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1976 Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91JG). John Gilman: "The 1976 Freemark Abbey cabernet sauvignon is a lovely example of the vintage, with the “dried fruit character” of this drought year, but with a sweet, extant core and lovely focus and balance still defining the wine as it closes in on its fortieth birthday. The excellent nose jumps from the glass in a blend of desiccated cherries, Rutherford dust, petroleum jelly, dried spice tones and gentle notes of woodsmoke in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and velvety, with excellent complexity, a fine core, still just a touch of tannin on the backend and a long, tangy and beautifully balanced finish. Really a lovely bottle of wine at its apogee, but still with plenty of life in it. Drink between 2015-2025." (08/2015)

1976 Pétrus, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1976 Pétrus, Pomerol. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1976 Petrus has been fully mature since it was released. The wine has always possessed intense aromas of over-ripe tomatoes, roasted vegetables, and red and black fruits touched by sweet toasty oak. It continues to be a pleasing, fat style of Petrus. 1976 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1976 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind in Bordeaux, the 1976 Ducru Beaucaillou seems to be in gentle, respectable decline. Here there are attractive, loose-knit red berry and cold black tea scents on the nose, the warmth from that summer still evident and somehow, comforting, perhaps compensating for its lack of complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with mushroom and a curious tang of licorice allsorts! It is not dissimilar to the magnum served at the property in 2011, although I think in bottle it is just a few steps further along its drinking plateau. Larger formats should still hold pleasure, but bottles should be consumed in the not too distant future. Tasted April 2016. Drink through 2021. (NM)" (07/2016)
