1970 Taylor Vintage Port
Back In Stock!
99 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine's dark garnet color with minimal bricking suggests a relatively youthful wine and this certainly could age longer, although it's also delicious now. Wonderfully complex floral and herbal scents easily move into deep, rich flavors of chocolate and cherries, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Douro minerality and spice. Drink or hold. (JC)" (02/2007) 98 points Wine Spectator: "Clearly lives up to Taylor's superb reputation. Deep ruby, with intense violet and chocolate aromas, full-bodied, with gorgeous fruit flavors, f...

1970 Fonseca Vintage Port
Back In Stock!
96 points Wine Spectator: "Some people may enjoy this wine's rather fat, rich and powerful fruit now, but I still find it too young for drinking. Deeply colored, with smoky mint, tar and fruit aromas, full-bodied, with concentrated fruit flavors and plenty of tannins. (JS, Web Only-1989)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Vintners Company’s 650th anniversary celebration at Vintners Hall, the Fonseca 1970 was the finest bottle I have encountered. The bouquet opens beautifully with heady scents of clove, ginger, small red cherries, b...

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lovely raisin coffee nose. Fruitcake. Lovely balance on palate. Succulent black fruits. Very youthful for 30 yrs old with the palate oozing liquorice and black cherry. Lush Merlot-rich finish. Very classy wine. Excellent. (NM-Wine Journal)" (01/2000) Wine Spectator: "Medium garnet, with a hint of ruby; toasty, cedary nose, with strawberry nuances; rich, ripe cassis flavor; lively and plump." (05/1993)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1970 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91RP, 91VN). Vinous: "The 1970 Beaulieu Vineyards Private Reserve Georges de Latour was fully mature, but pretty, soft and nicely balanced. Crushed flowers and a hint of tobacco lingered on the layered finish. (AG)" (02/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 1970 Quinta do Noval "Nacional" Vintage Port (98WS, 96RP, 93ST). Wine Spectator: " A massive wine, what one expects from Nacional in a solid vintage. Deep ruby, with an intense ripe berry nose, full-bodied, very tightly knit, with masses of fruit flavors and tannins and a very long finish. (JS, Web Only-1989)"

Bid on this bottle of 1970 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92JG). John Gilman: "I had not tasted a bottle of the 1970 Martha’s Vineyard since 2004 and was very happy to cross paths with a bottle recently, as it was inserted as a ringer into a large 1970 Bordeaux tasting that I attended very recently in southern California. This is one of my favorite vintages of Martha’s Vineyard for current consumption, and though the most recent bottle was a tad more easy-going structurally than the last bottle I tasted, there is no rush to drink up this lovely wine. The nose is deep, pure and quite classic in its superb mélange of black cherries, red berries, gentle mintiness, cigar wrapper, a lovely base of soil and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite velvety on the attack, with a very solid core of fruit, melting tannins, good acids and fine length and grip on the complex and beautifully balanced finish. I wonder if this bot

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1970 Jose Alexandre Damasio Gomes Madeira Verdelho Colheita. Very few experiences in the wine world can compare to old Madeira. The complexity that these wines achieve with significant age is simply unlike any other. This lovely version demonstrates the more elegant side of aged Madeira, being composed of 100% Verdelho. Rarity aside, the sensory experience alone is more than worth the price of admission.

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1970 Palmer, Margaux (95JG, 95RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not yet fully mature, the 1970 Palmer is one of the great wines of the vintage. It exhibits a dark, opaque garnet color, and an emerging, fabulously complex, exotic nose of licorice, over-ripe plums and blackcurrants, soy, cedar, and minerals. Rich and concentrated, with medium to full body, a sweet inner-core of fruit, firm but silky tannin, and a long, rich finish, this remains a youthful, potentially superb Palmer. (RP)" (06/1996)

Bid on this 3L-bottle of 1970 Marchesi di Barolo "Vecchio Maniero" Barolo (3.78L). The Marchesi di Barolo estate encompasses approximately 430 acres of vineyards in the Langhe, some of the finest in Piedmont, including the prestigious Cannubi cru. The cellars are located in the village of Barolo, overlooking the Renaissance castle of the Marchesi Falletti di Barolo. Barolo as we know it today was first made in the early 19th century by the Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia. The wine from their estate soon became known as “the wine from Barolo”, served at important diplomatic and royal functions. The Marchesi had no children and following the death of the couple, the Marchesi di Barolo dynasty was left without an heir. Per the wishes of Marchesa Giulia, a great philanthropist, the family assets were donated to charity and a non-profit foundation was created in their name, “Opera Pia Barolo”, helping the most needy of nearby Torino. The sales of wine from th
