1963 Taylor Vintage Port Back In Stock!
1963 Taylor Vintage Port

97 points Wine Spectator: "A big wine with superb balance, a shining example of this exuberantly fruity vintage. Deep ruby, with violets and coffee on the nose, full-bodied, with dried cherry flavors and plenty of tannin, balanced and long on the finish. (JS)" (12/1989) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner ...Read More »

1963 Fonseca Vintage Port Back In Stock!
1963 Fonseca Vintage Port

98 points Decanter: "Served at the bicentenary dinner in June, I was served from two bottles. One was fragrant and floral, sweet and elegant with gentle tannic grip, but soft and redolent of a tawny on the finish. The other, on which I base this score, had the focus and dark chocolate intensity one would expect from this great year. Spellbinding depth, with bitter chocolate and thick-cut marmalade in perfect balance. (RM)" 98 points Wine Spectator: "A grand slam. Deep ruby with a slightly red edge, intense black cherry and raspberry nose, full-bodied, w ...Read More »

1963 Dow's Vintage Port (high-mid shoulder fill, signs of past seepage)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Perfectly mature, this Port’s tannins have softened over the past 40-plus years, leaving it lushly textured and displaying rich fig and chocolate flavors. Finishes long, picking up a touch of almond to go with the fig, flavors Symington calls -Dow’s hallmarks.- Drink now-2015, longer if you prefer very mature wines." (03/2008) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale brick colour with fragrant scents of mossy wood, potpourri, cinnamon and dried mulberry plus a whiff of espresso. A mature, well balanced Port comes throu ...Read More »

1963 Sebastiani "Bin 9" North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1963 Sebastiani "Bin 9" North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Cobblestones were the source of the immigrant Samuele Sebastiani's wealth and he made a small fortune paving the streets of San Francisco. Like some other Italian immigrants, he invested his money in a winery and relied on the next generation to build on the foundation he had laid. His son, August Sebastiani did not disappoint, building the wineries reputation for sound wines to the point where over 25,000 cases per year were being produced in the 1960s and 1970s, a respectable production for any winery back then. Like many of the great old wines of California, the quickening pace of change and the huge capital costs of investment in the 80's and 90's have reduced the quality of the wines produced, but make no mistake, August Sebastiani produced great wines back in the 1960's.
