90 points James Suckling: "Understated Gewurztraminer that has an unusually firm structure and delicate fruit for this grape. Drinks well now but could go another five years." (06/2017) Wine & Spirits: "Clean up front, with brisk, lemony lightness, this gets fat and lush in the middle, while the acidity extends its fragrance of spicy Asian pear and star fruit. " (04/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "A earthy element creeps into the peach notes on the nose. The medium-sweet palate comes in with refreshing phenolic zestiness. The flavors are full and bright, wit ...Read More »

From the winery: This wine originates from Fronenberg – a superb argilo-calcareous “terroir” which is eastward facing. Tasting notes : This wine is intense on the nose revealing hints of rose, lychees and candied fruit. On the palate it is round, full and rich and gives aromas of exotic fruit, mango and liquorice. Suggested food pairings : Delicious as an aperitif, this wine also is perfectly suited to foie gras, spicy dishes or strong cheeses such as Roquefort or Munster. 90 points Guide Gilbert & Gaillard 2017

93 points James Suckling: " Excellent dried-citrus, spice and dried-mango character. Full, powerful, focused and pinpointed. Drink now. " (12/2016) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Hints of rosewater and Turkish Delight waft from the glass. More toned down, the palate shines with citric freshness. There is quite a bit of warmth that seems to intensify the floral peach notes even more. It's very aromatic and varietally true, with a tropical finish of passion fruit. (AK)" (12/2016) Wine Spectator: "Hints of beeswax and orange blossom herald this dry and bal ...Read More »

92 points James Suckling: "Generous citrus, lychee and jasmine on the nose. Some delicacy. A remarkably crisp and dry gewurztraminer that has a refreshing finish, making it an unusually good food wine for this grape. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. " (05/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the Herrenwweg area, the intensely citrus colored 2016 Gewurztraminer Turckheim is from vines averaging 47 years old and opens with a very precise and slightly smoky bouquet with lovely spicy Gewurtz notes. Full-bodied yet clean ...Read More »

95 points Raymond Chan: "Bright, pale straw colour with a little depth, lighter on the edge. The nose is very deep with intense and deep aromas showing good penetration of exotic florals, with rose-petals and soft notes of Turkish Delight, along with refreshing herb nuances and a little mineral essence. The aromatics are tightly bound. Medium in taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a positive core with plenty of presence, intensity and weight, showing refined exotic rose-petal and exotic florals melded with Turkish Delight and honey with subtl ...Read More »

90 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and well-knit, this expressive Gewürztraminer shows lots of the grape's grapefruit zest, crunchy white peach and white pepper notes, set in a racy, mineral-driven frame. Drink now through 2023. (AN)" (05/2018) Vinous: "Bright pale golden-yellow. Enticing smoky grilled pork, ginger beef, cinnamon and grapefruit nectar on the very Gewürz nose. Then flavors similar to the aromas and - though not especially complex - delicious and very accessible. Finishes medium-long and off-dry but with good mineral tang (17 g/L residual ...Read More »

92 points Vinous: "Vivid yellow-gold. Aromas of tropical fruit, exotic spices, yellow flowers and citrus peel, plus a smoky note; this smelled like it had been hit by some botrytis. Very rich but suave and fine-grained, offering exotic flavors of mango and orange peel that are focused by a noteworthy mineral spine (Steingrubler means “stone quarry”). Offers compelling sweetness and intensity, but also firm acidic lift. I'd love to try this with a Hawaiian pizza or a spicy pork dish with pineapple chutney! A portion of these grapes were harvested late, on ...Read More »

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The highly aromatic and varietal 2017 Cartagena Gewurztraminer is dry and austere on the palate and has the telltale varietal aromas of lychee and rose petal as well as that characteristic bitterness on the finish. It has moderate acidity, lowish compared with its siblings. It seems to call for some Thai food. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2017. (LG)" (10/2018) K&L Notes: Based just a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean, Casa Marin has worked hard to become one of the premier wineries on Ch ...Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Old Vine Gewürztraminer opens with gardenia and musk perfume over ripe white peaches and nectarines. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with rose perfume and ripe stone fruits, with just enough refreshing acidity and a long, perfumed finish with pleasant phenolic texture. (EB)" (08/2018)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Husch has been making Gewurztraminer for a long time and has it down pat. This is an excellent example of a dry, floral wine that's fun enough for an outdoor summer concert and serious enough for a winter's lunch. It smells and tastes floral, peachy and a little nutty, with medium body and good acidity to balance it. *Best Buy* (JG)" (11/2017) Wine Spectator: "Vividly floral, with rose petal and honeysuckle details to the citrus and melon flavors, this is juicy on the finish, where the floral note crescendos. Drink now. (MW) ...Read More »

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Orange blossom, lime pith, candied citrus and a touch of flint show on the focused nose of this wine. It's quite racy and grippy on the sip, where orange zest and julienned Pink Lady apple flavors dominate. (MK)" (10/2018) Connoisseurs Guide: "This is not the first time that this producer has come up with an expressive, distinctively varietal dry Gewürztraminer, and the new 2017 version ranks with the winery’s best to date. It is a rich and solidly built offering that speaks strongly to spice while teasing with suggestions o ...Read More »

Alsace is the exception to the French tradition of naming wines after place of origin -- here varietal nomenclature is the thing. But the wines of Alsace are very French, having perhaps more in common with Burgundy than Germany. Barth Rene produces classic Alsatian wines in the village of Bennwihr. This Gewurztraminer is from the "Vogelgarten" vineyard, which is planted exclusively with Gewurztraminer. Vines grow in calcerous soils on a hillside plot with southern exposure, and are planted with a density of 4,500 to 5,000 vines per hectare. Grapes are ...Read More »

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Light in color, this perennially lovely white is fragrant and varietal, lush in white peach, lychee and vanilla. Ginger and lemongrass give an intensity on the crisp, complex finish. It starts and ends dry. (VB)" (09/2018) Connoisseurs Guide: "If at first a little shy, this well-crafted offering ever so steadily comes into fine varietal focus with a good bit of spice accenting its aromas and flavors of sweet citrus and lychee-like fruit. On the palate, it is slightly rounded with just enough acidity for balance, and the mino ...Read More »

92 points James Suckling: "Lots of concrete and spices featuring cloves and dried apples. A dry, full-bodied palate with polished texture. Lovely fruit, too. Drink now. " (12/2016) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A very shy nose just releases the most teasing hint of peach. The palate is utterly restrained: peach flavors are dry and brightened by lemon and have a wonderful lightness of touch. The finish is dry, clean and long. A very refreshing and clean-cut take on Gewurztraminer. (AK)" (08/2017) 90 points Vinous: "Good full yellow. The strongly floral ...Read More »
