2015 Capbern, St-Estèphe

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Produced by the team of Calon Ségur, this wine is stylish and elegant while also full of the Saint Estèphe tannic structure. Fresh and fruity, it is also firm and tannic. Drink this spicy, juicy wine from 2025. (RV)" (04/2018) 92 points James Suckling: "This is structured and very linear with superfine and polished tannins. It’s full-bodied yet reserved and held back with such tension and focus. Full-bodied, fine and chewy on the finish. Better in 2020." 2016 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (Pre-Arrival)

Bottled in July 2018, it is deep garnet-purple colored and starts off a little closed and reticent, opening out slowly and seductively to reveal beautiful lilacs, rose hip tea, crushed stones and camphor nuances over a core of crème de cassis, kirsch, wild blueberries and mocha plus wafts of incense and wood smoke. 2016 Lilian Ladouys, St-Estèphe (Pre-Arrival)

93-94 points James Suckling: "Firm and silky with a lovely depth of fruit and polished tannins. Some cedar and berry. Full and dense. Excellent length. Energetic acidity at end. Yes. Better than the super 2014. Best ever." (04/2017) 90-93 points Wine Spectator: "Juicy, with a lively streak of anise running through the middle of the plum and bitter cherry core. The finish has solid, fresh grip. (JM)" (04/2017) 91 points Decanter: "Château Lilian Ladouys has the same owner as Château Pédesclaux, with Eric Boissenot acting as consultant. Elegant and long. Drink in 2020." (02/2018) 89-91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dry and firm, this is a structured wine. It has hints of dark chocolate with seriously dry tannins. 2015 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe

The blackberry, smoke and earthy notes are beautifully interwoven — then there’s an equally impressive harmony of full, plush tannins and some real concentration. Needs until 2020 to give its best, but it's got many years ahead of it beyond that." (02/2018) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This property, owned by the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, has produced a structured wine. Its tannins show most strongly at the moment. 2009 De Pez, St-Estèphe

90 points James Suckling: "This is tight and fresh with blackberry, mineral and light tar character. Full body, chewy tannins and a subtle spice and currant aftertaste. Still quite reserved. Better in 2016." (11/2015) Wine Spectator: "Offers sleek raspberry and red currant fruit, supported by smoked apple wood and dark tobacco notes that are backed by a long, taut, chalky spine on the finish. In the austere camp, but with a solid core. Best from 2014 through 2024. " (03/2012)

Very spicy and earthy. St. Estephe character. Enjoy or age." (02/2011) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of currant and fresh flowers follow through to a medium-to-full body, with chewy tannins and a slightly woody finish, but the fruit comes through. (RV)" (04/2017) 91-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Starting with the second wine and more exuberant and sexy than its 2015 counterpart, the 2016 La Dame de Montrose is a seriously impressive wine in its own right and gives a hint of the incredible quality found in the grand vin. 1986 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe

Of course, the 86 was famous for its power and tannic structure and this is still muscular and foursquare, but the tannins are beginning to yield and soften. Very fresh acidity and classic sweet cassis fruit with notes of minerals, underbrush and tobacco. Very pure and long. Bid on this bottle of 1970 Montrose, St-Estèphe (95JG). John Gilman: "The ’70 vintage of Montrose has always been one of my favorites for this property, and this particular bottle showed outstandingly well. The bouquet is very, very deep and delivers a wonderfully complex mélange of cassis, black raspberry, cigar box, woodsmoke, a stellar expression of Montrose earthy soil, herbs and a judicious framing of cedary, spicy wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, young and urgent, with great acids, a rock solid core of black fruit, excellent expression of terroir, and profound length and grip on the mineral-infused finish. The ’70 Montrose is still a tad on the young side, and will continue to improve over the next twenty years, and should have no difficulty lasting another fifty! To give some idea of just how good the ’70 Montrose is, we paired it up with the ’70 Latour! I have a very, very hard time imagining that the highly-touted 1989 and 1990 will ever be as good as the 1970 Mont

2016 Phélan-Ségur, St-Estèphe (Pre-Arrival)

94-95 points James Suckling: "A super fragrant red with blackberry and blueberry aromas plus hints of blackcurrants. Full-bodied, powerful and structured. Tannic. Very long finish. A muscular and intense wine." (04/2017) 94 points Decanter: "They finished picking here on 25th October, one of the latest ever harvests at Phélan. Feathery tannins and a fresh, ripe but crunchy aspect to the fruit gives a real sense of vivacity and grip. I love the dark pepper spice that clamps around the fruit on the second half of the palate. This is an excellent vintage ...Read More »

2008 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe

93 points James Suckling: "A solid red, with plum, spices and cedar character on the nose and palate. Coffee too. Full and dense, with a long finish. Solid red here. Superb for the appellation. Best after 2013. " (12/2010) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London. I praised the 2008 Calon Segur when I tasted it blind in 2012 and I have no reason to change my opinion three years later. Here it has a surprisingly deep hue for a 2008. The nose is very detailed and lively, ...Read More »

1986 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this bottle of 1986 Montrose, St-Estèphe (98DC, 95WS, 92RP). Decanter: "This is a masterclass in the ageing aromas of Bordeaux. It sits exactly at the spot at which you still have a tightening and a menthol freshness on this finish, with cassis fruit that is still very much tight and young, but where the more gentle, spicy, brushed almond and cedar flavours start to intrude. Beautiful wine, amazing, it deepens through the palate, the expression changes and evolves, it's tertiary but still with flesh, gorgeous. Drinking Window 2017-2032. (JA)" (03/2017)

2017 Montrose, St-Estèphe (Pre-Arrival)

96-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Montrose is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep purple-black in color, the nose is a little closed at first, but with coaxing, it opens to reveal remarkable earth and exotic spice notes of crushed rocks, black truffles, star anise, cassia and fenugreek over a core of crème de cassis, blackberry preserves, violets and blueberry pie with touches of cigar box, charcuterie and black soil. Medium-bodied with a rock-solid frame and an exquisitely ripe, ...Read More »

2017 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This perfumed wine is rich in dark tannins and black currant flavors. It has lifted acidity and a wonderful juicy, balanced character. Very pure and well structured, this will be a great wine for aging. (RV)" (04/2018) 94-95 points James Suckling: "This is very delicate on the attack but it grows on the palate with firm and silky tannins that turn lightly chewy. Builds consistently. Compacted and tight." (04/2018) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Calon-Ségur is tentatively blended of 76% Cabernet Sa ...Read More »
