2009 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion
Top Pick!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely spectacular effort, the 2009 is one of the all-time great La Gaffelieres produced. One would have to go back to the 2005, 1947 or 1961 to find this level of quality from this ancient, historic vineyard planted adjacent to the walls of St.-Emilion, on the Cote Pavie. Dating back to the 1400s, this estate has been owned for over three centuries by the Malet-Roquefort family. Composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon (in the past it was two-thirds Merlot and the rest split between Cabernet Sauv...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of vanillin, roasted coffee beans, chocolate and kirsch liqueur intermixed with blacker fruits such as cassis. It is rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic, but low in acidity and quite heady and powerful (15% natural alcohol). This impressive wine is a big, back-strapping effort to drink over the next 15+ years. Produced by Sylvie Pourquet, the sister of Gerard and Dominique Be...

2009 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion 12-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure perfection in a glass, the incredible 2009 Troplong Mondot offers off the chart notes of blackcurrants, licorice, truffles and saddle leather that just soar from the glass. This is a big, ripe, incredibly sexy wine that hits the palate with a huge texture, building, ripe tannin, no weight, and a finish that just won't quit. Utterly brilliant stuff, it's slightly more approachable than the 2005, but both of these vintages play in the same style. Drink bottles anytime over the coming two to three decades. Bravo!" Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion (99RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most distinctive wines made in Bordeaux, Le Dome has one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc of any claret I can think of. Composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, it exhibits a certain delicacy and elegance (due to the Cabernet Franc component) in addition to resounding power, concentration, depth and multidimensional personality. Black/purple to the rim, it offers strikingly intense notes of spring flowers, raspberries, mulberries and wood smoke, medium to full body, sweet tannin and a cunning intensity and texture that suggest finesse and delicacy. However, the wine’s richness, length and lingering depth build incrementally in this exceptional St.-Emilion. It will be drinkable in 4-5 years and should age for two decades or more. This is Jonathan Malthus’ finest wine to date. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 St-Émilion Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2009 Clos de l'Oratoire, St-Emilion (94WS, 93JS, 93RP, 91ST) and 1-bottle of 2009 Fleur Cardinale, St-Émilion (94RP, 93JS, 93WS, 92DC, 92ST). Of the 2009 Clos de l'Oratoire, St-Emilion,Wine Spectator writes: "This is very suave, with mocha and smoldering tobacco flavors laced with fig, plum and blackberry notes. A flash of sweet tapenade and iron helps extend the finish, which has lovely latent minerality. This shows great restraint, considering its power of fruit. Best from 2015 through 2027. 2009 Beauséjour (Duffau), St-Emilion 12-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 77% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Beausejour (Duffau Lagarrosse) is utter perfection, and man, what a wine. Deep, inky, incredibly concentrated, yet also silky and weightless, it delivers that rare mix of intensity and weightlessness on the palate. Offering layers of blackcurrants, crushed flowers, lead pencil, incense and loads of spice-box, it shows the intensity and rich of the 2009 vintage yet is perfectly balanced, has building tannins, and a huge finish. It’s as good as it ...

2009 Belair-Monange, St-Emilion 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
96 points Vinous: "The sophomore 2009 Belair-Monange has been variable from bottle to bottle so I was taken aback at the impressive performance here. It has a very opulent bouquet with plush red fruit, patisserie, candied orange peel, fig and dates. This is very open and expressive, very gourmand in style and though atypical, it is very seductive. The palate is almost viscous on the entry with plush red fruit, a touch of black pepper and oregano, slightly medicinal in style but very persistent. Blind, I thought it might be Tertre-Rôteboeuf but it turned ...
