2016 Fombrauge, St-Emilion
Top Pick!
93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a perfumed wine, likely thanks to a dollop (7%) of Cabernet Franc. It has ripe fruit characters, pleasant richness and a firm structure. (RV)" (04/2017) 94 points James Suckling: "There’s a very rich and powerful core of red-plum and mulberry aromas and flavors here, delivering an assertive and very shimmery, polished palate. Great tannin texture. Long and regal. Every bit as good as the 2015, but more lively in 2016. " (02/2019) 94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Fombrauge has come together beautifully during its agin...

2016 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
96 points Vinous: "Readers will find a rich, flamboyant wine in the 2016 Barde-Haut. There is not a ton of subtlety here, but I am not sure that matters all that much given how immensely pleasing the 2016 is. Crushed rocks, graphite, lavender, blackberry, plum, and violet infuse a Saint-Émilion that offers tremendous textural richness as well as vibrancy. Most importantly of all, the 2016 is flat-out delicious. This is a decidedly opulent, dark Saint-Émilion with all of the elements impeccably balanced. I loved it. 94 points Vinous: "Just as it was en primeur, the 2017 Barde-Haut possesses notable richness and power, while retaining a good bit of freshness. Inky dark fruit, cloves, licorice, chocolate and menthol are pushed forward here. Racy and voluptuous in the glass, the 2017 is positively gorgeous today. It should drink well with minimal cellaring. (AG) 94+" (03/2020) 93 points James Suckling: "A complex, composed impression on the nose with rich plum and earthy aromas, nicely framed in oak spice. All working well. The palate has a very smooth, supple feel w...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A classic St.-Emilion, the 2010 from Grand-Pontet is dense purple and ripe, with loads of black cherry, plum, fig and vanillin notes. The wine has a full-bodied yet luscious and succulent mid-palate that gives it accessibility now despite some elevated tannins in the long finish. It is well-made and generally one of the better values of St.-Emilion. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028. (RP)" (02/2013) K&L Notes: Grand Pontet is an interesting property, positioned in the neighborhood of other stars of the appellatio...

2018 Tour St-Christophe, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "Currant, red-tea, chili, chocolate and lemon-zest aromas. Chalk and crushed gravel, too. It’s medium-bodied with tight, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Sleek and tight with crunchy berry, mineral and zesty notes on the finish. Complex. Pretty center palate to this. Extremely polished." (01/2021) 93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "This tiny, picturesque vineyard on the east side of Saint-Émilion has turned out another brilliant wine with their 2018 Château Tour Saint Christophe. The vineyard covers 6.5 hectares of terraced slo...

We sold out of the 1995 in a matter of one e-mail. Now we have the more powerful 1996, with the same old-fashioned label.

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of vanillin, roasted coffee beans, chocolate and kirsch liqueur intermixed with blacker fruits such as cassis. It is rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic, but low in acidity and quite heady and powerful (15% natural alcohol). This impressive wine is a big, back-strapping effort to drink over the next 15+ years. Produced by Sylvie Pourquet, the sister of Gerard and Dominique Be...

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot from vines averaging 50-years in age. It saw malolactic fermentation in barrel and will spend a year in new French oak. It offers a heavenly bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, spice box, dried flowers and forest floor that develops wonderfully with time in the glass. This carries to a full-bodied Saint-Émilion that’s flawlessly balanced, has ultra-fine tannins, subtle background oak, and a great, great finish. Give this polished, beautifully b...

94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Deeply colored, the 2018 Château Barde-Haut gives up a powerful, yet elegant profile that carries beautiful black cherry, chocolate, liquid violets, and hints of minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, has beautiful mid-palate depth, integrated acidity, and thrilling tannin quality, which isn’t a given in the vintage. Opening up with time in the glass, it shows more and more minerality and freshness, and is flawlessly balanced. In short, it’s beautiful Saint-Émilion readers will love to have in their cellar. 94-96+" (05/2019) ...

94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another estate that I suspect has produced a best to date, the 2018 Château Sansonnet comes from a tiny 7-hectare vineyard which was purchased by Marie and Christophe Lefévère early in 2009. The vineyard itself is 35 years old and consists of a thin layer of clay sitting over the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. The 2018 is a blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc, representing 65% of the total production, that saw malolactic fermentation in barrel and is still resting in 80% new French oak. This i...

In 2018 the Château passed into the hands of the Savare family with much updating to the vineyards and winery being carried out. Prior to this the estate passed through several different owners who carried out their own changes including increasing the amount of Cabernet Franc included in the blend. The 1999 is 100% Merlot.

93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "This tiny estate was purchased by the Lefévère family in 2015, who are also the owners of the nearby grands cru classés, Sansonnet and Soutard Cadet. Planted all to Merlot, the 2018 Château Moulin du Cadet is a selection of 75% of the total production and is aging in 80% new French oak. It’s certainly the finest vintage I’ve tasted, offering beautiful notes of blue fruits, spice, and graphite, with a kiss of minerality. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully fresh and focused, with plenty of background oak, it has a modern style ye...

Wine Enthusiast: "From vines on the plateau to the west of the village of Saint-Émilion, this is a light, fruity wine. Its acidity and tannic structure lend a crisp texture to its black currant fruit. (RV)" (12/2017)

Here is a fine find from the Right Bank. Founded in 1704, this 14-hectare estate run by the Bardet family is located on gravelly/clay soils that impart depth and complexity to the wine. 86% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. We just discovered this property in 2019, and we have already sold quite a bit of their 1995 and 1996. Super old-school label for an “old school” property. This wine has lots of red berry aromas and flavors. It really opens up with some decanting.

94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I've always enjoyed this wine (I recently finished a case of the 2003, which needs to be drunk up), and the 2019 Château Bellevue showed beautifully. Dense purple-hued with lots of cassis, gravelly earth, violets, and spicy oak, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a soft, opulent mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a beautiful wine in the making and well worth a case purchase." (06/2020) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: 2019 Bordeaux Futures are being offered without any added tariffs. If there are applicable t...

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "An estate that deserves more recognition in the market today, the 2019 Château Bellefont-Belcier comes from a fabulous terroir not far from Larcis Ducasse and Château Pavie. Gorgeous cassis and black raspberry fruits give way to a full-bodied, incredibly elegant 2019 with loads of floral notes, the classic minerality of this terroir, ripe tannins, and blockbuster of a finish. The elegance and purity of this wine paired with its richness and depth are something." (06/2020) 95-96 points James Suckling: "This is very complex wit...
