2016 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc "Les Sétilles" Top Pick!
2016 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc "Les Sétilles"

91 points James Suckling: "A tangy and fresh white with sliced lemons and hints of dried tea leaves and flowers. Medium body, bright acidity and a long, flavorful finish. Drink now." (02/2018) K&L Notes: One of the wines poured at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This was the old world wine choice for the reception.

2017 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Mouchère" (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Vinous: "Bright yellow. Lemon drop and oil, peach, hazelnut and flowers on the subtly complex nose. Tactile and brisk on entry, then thick and energetic in the middle palate, conveying a distinct impression of sweetness countered by pure saline minerality. The wine's peachy fruit hints at almost honeyed ripeness without losing its verve. Finishes with outstanding mounting length. This has the palate presence and depth of a grand cru. (ST)" (09/2018)

2016 Maison Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet

92-93 points James Suckling: "This is a real Puligny with lemons and cooked apples. Hints of straw and limestone. Full- to medium-bodied, layered and clean. Bright finish. A beauty. Savory and salt at the end. Drink now. " (02/2018) 88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Fresh and appealingly layered aromas grudgingly reveal notes of white peach, lavender, citrus zest and hint of oak. The round, caressing and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a relatively sophisticated mouth feel before ending in a dry, clean and mildly austere finish." ...Read More »

2016 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc "Oncle Vincent"

James Suckling: " This is aromatically similar to the Sétilles but with even more citrus influence that continues onto the tighter and more complex flavors that terminating in youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This is a very good Bourgogne though it's one that will need at least a year or two of bottle age first." (06/2018) Wine Spectator: "A compact style, offering lemon, apple and light spice flavors that take on a tactile feel on the finish. Offers just a hint of citrus peel bitterness for lift. Drink now. 2016 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatieres"

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatieres has a more conspicuous marine bent to the aromatics compared to the other Puligny premier crus, with oyster shells and mudflat scents filtering through the green apple aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fresh and vibrant entry. Now this is a very pretty Puligny in the making, very harmonious with traces of blackcurrant leaf and spice, fanning out as if the 2016 vintage was not beset by trials and tribulations. There is just a disarming flow about this ...Read More »

2016 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Puligny Montrachet

89-91 points Vinous: "(these vines were less touched by frost than those in Meursault and Chassagne): Palish yellow. The most subtle and classic of Drouhin's trio of Côte de Beaune village wines, offering aromas and flavors of pear, white peach and minerals. Suave, dry and fine-grained, showing noteworthy intensity and grip without any phenolic hardness. Finishes with subtle rising length and mineral tension. With an element of youthful austerity, this village wine is quite classic in style. (ST)" (09/2017) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and fleshy, ...Read More »

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Clavoillons is reserved and rather aloof on the nose, although that is how we like our Puligny (don’t we?). There are some lovely touches of white peach and yellow flowers here. The palate is marked by a sour lemon note on the entry that complements the energy and concentration conveyed by this Clavoillons. Dense, tactile and deep, this sappy, mineral-driven wine already displays grand cru class. Really inundates the palate with fruits, flowers and minerals on the savory, inexorable back end. There is more volume and power to the full-bodied but generously proportioned flavors that coat the palate with dry extract while finishing with sneaky good length. This should drink well early but age reasonably well too. 2016 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Perrières"

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières did not quite display the panache of the enticing Les Referts, though it is redeemed by a subtle touch of aniseed, a leitmotif among several other whites within the Côte de Beaune. The palate is very well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, crisp and taut, perhaps less showy and complex than the Les Referts, although there is plenty of freshness on the finish. If you want a strict, no-frills, straight-onto-the-fairway Puligny, this is where to come. (NM)" ( ...Read More »

2016 Joseph Drouhin Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Garenne"

Vibrant if youthfully tight aromas of lemon, lime and fleurs de vignes (Véronique Drouhin noted that this wine smells like the flowering vineyards do on the day of our tasting, June 1). Tighter in the mouth than the Folatières, conveying a less-sweet impression. Firmly built and delicate but on the lean side today and in need of time to absorb more of its acidity. Then thick-verging-on-unctuous in the mouth, offering highly concentrated citrus and stone fruit flavors along with suggestions of exotic fruits. This outsized fruit bomb is given shape and lift by harmonious acidity and gravelly minerality, but it's in a somewhat more southern style than the Clos de la Mouchère, and shows less distinction. Rich, round and plump medium-weight flavors possess an almost oily texture along with lovely intensity and drive on the lightly mineral-inflected finish. Apart from the nose, this isn't as refined as it usually is but I like the depth and persistence." Of the 2002 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume-Vignoble de Vaulorent",Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "Another big step up in elegance and purity as the wonderfully expressive and beautifully complex nose offers outstanding detail in the tight green apple fruit aromas cut with obvious minerality and a touch of citrus followed by rich, full and concentrated flavors of uncommon depth and superb finishing intensity; indeed this is almost painfully intense. A terrific effort that delivers grand cru size and weight and this is a real stunner of a wine and highly recommended. *Outstanding*" (10/2004)

2005 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Pucelles"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Pucelles" (92BH, 92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep but reticent aromas of clove, nut butter and menthol. Deep, pliant and ripe, with enticing peach and apricot fruit framed by sound acidity. Big, rich and quite dry; very full in the mouth. This classically built, ageworthy wine finishes with a whiplash of fruit and stone. (ST)" (09/2007)

2016 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet - Clos de la Jacquelotte"

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A higher-toned nose is composed of lemongrass, lemon rind and pretty floral notes. The rich, full-bodied and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of dry extract that imparts a succulent mouth feel on the nicely complex, moderately dry and once again, sneaky long finale. *Outstanding*" (06/2018) 90 points Vinous: "Bright lemon-yellow. Ripe peach, hazelnut and a whiff of clove on the nose; I might have picked this blind as Meursault. Fat, plush and sweet but given grip by a hint of malic acidity. ...Read More »
