90 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Oak-spiced cherry and blackberry on the deeply perfumed nose. Lush, sweet and broad on the palate, offering smoke-accented dark fruit flavors and a touch of mocha. Showing its oak, for sure, but there's a good amount of fruit here to back it up. Finishes smooth and long, with lingering smokiness and a hint of candied licorice." K&L Notes: Winemaking Notes: "This wine’s components seamlessly blend together, making for a delightful and exuberant experience. In the glass, the wine displays a deep and rich garnet, proclaiming...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The last vintage of this cuvée as these grapes will be moved into the Oublie cuvée, the 2016 Fulldraw Vineyard offers serious Syrah notes (I don’t know the blend) in its chocolate, jammy blackberry, licorice, and crushed rock aromas and flavors. This is a big, rich, brooding red that packs serious amounts of fruit and texture without ever going over the top. Eric Jensen’s Booker Vineyards continues to make a ripe, sexy, pedal-to-the-metal syle of wine and these latest 2016s don’t disappoint. (JD) 93+" (11/2018)

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Oublie offers exotic notes of ripe blueberries, crushed violets, peppery spice, and blood orange in its full-bodied, beautifully pure, elegant profile. It has ripe tannins, good acidity, and is an undeniably beautiful wine. A blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre that saw plenty of stems, drink this sexy red any time over the coming 7-8 years." (11/2018) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This bruiser is powerfully built and framed by lively tannins and acidity, layered with boysenberry, crushed stone and white pepper flavors that bu...

94-95 points Vinous: "Bright violet. Smoke-accented cherry and blackberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied licorice, musky rhubarb and cracked pepper. Chewy and broad on entry and then tighter in the midpalate, offering concentrated dark berry preserve and spicecake flavors and a sweet touch of candied violet. Closes on a recurring floral note, showing impressive persistence and suave, even tannins. (JR)" (09/2018) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Combines structure with polish and substance, offering expressive raspberry, garrigue and smoke...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (100JD, (95-97RP), 96VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the greatest GSM blends to ever come out of California is the 2016 James Berry Vineyard, which is 55% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah, and 8% Counoise. This sensational wine reminds me of the 2016 Mon Aïeul from Pierre Usseglio with its awesome perfume of sweet blackberry and cassis fruits, smoke meats, exotic spice, licorice, and garrigue-like aromas and flavors. Deep, rich and layered on the palate, with a massive core of sweet fruit, this beauty builds with time in the glass and has incredible purity of fruit, a mix of richness and elegance that's hard to describe, sweet tannins, and a huge finish. It's every bit as impressive as the 2007 was on release. It needs a decant if drinking any time soon and should be at its best from 2020-2035. Hats off to Justin Smith for this incredible wine! I finished my note with “the greatest GSM blend from Californ

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Saxum "Terry Hoage" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97JD, 96VN, (93-95RP)). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Terry Hoage Vineyard comes from Jennifer and Terry Hoage's Vineyard (of TH Estate) and is 43% each of Grenache and Syrah, with the balance Mourvèdre. This purple-hued beauty boasts a rocking bouquet of crème de cassis, smoked plums, charcoal, and damp earth, with more violets and floral notes developing with time in the glass. While a big wine, it just glides across the palate and is straight up seamless, silky, and elegant, with a weightless texture, full body, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Like the 2016s from Smith, it has ample underlying structure and density, yet the wine is so perfectly balanced it's hard to even notice. Drink this brilliant wine any time over the coming 10-15 years." (11/2018)
