Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is more deeply pitched still with a classic Nuits nose of earth, game and underbrush adding nuance to the dark berry fruit aromas that complement the rich, round and equally earthy flavors that possess good acid/fruit/tannin balance and solid length fashioned in a forward and relatively accessible package." (04/2007)

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the expressive and very earthy nose exhibits cool and airy aromas of pomegranate, plum and pretty floral aromas that are trimmed in notes of wood. There is a lovely minerality suffusing the punchy and delineated medium-bodied flavors that possess a firm tannic spine that shapes the complex, persistent and only mildly rustic finale where a hint of bitter cherry surfaces. Note that this attractively voluminous effort is sufficiently firm that it will need ample cellaring to resolve the underlying structure." (01/2...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is earthier still with its ripe yet cool and pure nose of red currant, floral and leather scents. There is good volume and excellent intensity to the tautly muscular and notably stony medium weight flavors that display more than a touch of rusticity on the impressively persistent finish. This is very Nuits in basic character but not especially austere or inelegant. This too is well-worth checking out." (01/2017)

Vinous: "The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village comes from four parcels and is matured in one-third new oak. It has a perfumed bouquet of bilberry and wild strawberry infused with violets notes; a touch of kirsch develops with aeration. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, nicely judged acidity and a pastille-like finish that lingers in the mouth. Fine.(NM)" (01/2019)

88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Once again the nose is firmly reduced and unreadable. As is usually the case, the mouthfeel of vibrant medium-bodied flavors is noticeably finer and with more evident minerality that really become apparent on the youthfully austere, complex and lingering finish that is also better balanced." (01/2019) Vinous: "The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaliots, which comes from a parcel adjacent to the RN74 road, has a lifted, blueberry and incense bouquet that just needs a little more delineation. The palate is medium-b...

88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Discreet wood serves as a relatively neutral backdrop for the fresh aromas of red currant and earth that are laced with plenty of sauvage character. The rich, mouth coating and sappy medium weight flavors possess fine volume while concluding in a nicely persistent finish that is, if not exactly refined, then certainly less rustic than usual." (01/2019) 90 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Nuits AC chez Gouges was showing pretty nicely for only having been in bottle for one week, and it will probably close down a bit...

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village is a blend of several vineyards that offer homogeneous ripeness but on different soils. It has quite an earthy, sous-bois tinged bouquet that is very well defined, the 60% whole bunches nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a tart opening, and the 10% new oak lends discreet lift toward a persistent finish spiced with a dash of black pepper. Excellent. (NM)" (01/2019) 88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exuberantly expressive nose jumps from the glass to reveal a lovely arr...

From the importer: "Maison Roche de Bellene is the négociant (making wine with fruit from other growers) of Nicolas Potel, the well-known and highly regarded winemaker in Burgundy. Nicolas is an old friend of Ernst Loosen, and we are extremely happy to have him as part of our import portfolio. Founded in 2009, the emphasis at Roche de Bellene is on individual terroirs from vieilles vignes (old vines — 40 years or older) that are farmed responsibly. All of the growers that Nicolas works with are either BIO certified or farming according to the principles ...

Bid on this half-bottle of 1990 Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Boudots" (375ml). Domaine Jean Grivot is among the great names in Burgundian wine. Étienne Grivot and his wife Marielle (Patrick Bize's sister) took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The Grivot family believes in generational change and in 2017, Étienne and Marielle’s daughter, Mathilde, took over for her parents. Mathilde brings a fresh approach while maintaining the longtime traditions of the Grivot family. The recently renovated winery and cellar is in Vosne-Romanée where most of the Grivot vineyards are located. The domaine has been assembled over several generations to its current size of 15.5 hectares and includes holdings in three grand crus: Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, and Richebourg. Mathilde believes in getting quality first thanks to meticulous vineyard work throughout the year. The result of this hard work is healthy, ripe (both phenolic and sugar levels) and depth of concentration a
