91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Focused aromas of boysenberry, light violet and lavender show on the nose of this bottling. The palate snaps with boysenberry, black-plum and tart elderberry flavors, with a hint of those purple flowers. (MK)" (01/2021) K&L Notes: A fantastic value in Syrah made by the legendary Rhone Ranger, Bob Lindquist of Qupe.

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Pinot Noir Central Coast comes from multiple vineyards throughout the Central Coast and has a touch of the elegance and purity found in the top cuvées. Impressive black raspberry fruits, white flowers, spice, and a subtle salty minerality all emerge from the glass, and it's beautifully textured, balanced, and just a joy to drink. It's well worth its going rate and should be snatched up by readers." (09/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blend from sites across the Central Coast carries all the expert hallmarks of th...
So, here's the scoop on this one, folks: Some grape growers take payment for their fruit in a variety of forms, and one of these is finished wine. So, the farmer sells the winemaker a given amount of fruit, and the winemaker in turn bottles some of the finished wine under the grower's own "house" label. The winemaker gets the fruit without much cash outlay (a great idea for a product that often takes two years to get to market) and the grape grower gets the expertise of the winemaker to create a wine for their own label. However, sometimes these growers ...

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another terrific wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve offers lots of blackcurrants, spice box, tobacco leaf, and chocolatey nuances to go with a full-bodied style on the palate. It has the 2018 vintage’s fresher, more elegant style yet brings ample fruit and has an expansive, layered mouthfeel as well as a great finish. It’s another wine to enjoy any time over the coming 15-20 years." (01/2021)

94 points Vinous: "Dark red. Suave, spice-accented aromas of raspberry preserves, pungent flowers, incense and cola, along with a hint of smoky minerality that builds with air. Plush and expansive on the palate, offering deeply concentrated red and blue fruit, allspice, vanilla and floral pastille flavors that are given spine by a core of zesty acidity. Shows superb definition and floral lift on a strikingly long, penetrating finish shaped by silky, slow-mounting tannins. (JR)" (06/2019) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "The reserve, compiled with grapes fro...
92 points James Suckling: "Plenty of savory aromas here with black olive, mushroom and oyster shell, layered with blackcurrant and tobacco leaf. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, sleek tannins. Structured and flavorful. " (12/2020) K&L Notes: The 2018 Red from Calculated Risk is left bank Bordeaux style blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Malbec, 20% Merlot from top sites across Napa Valley. It seriously over delivers for the money.

Medium to full-bodied, with both good acidity and plenty of tannins, it’s going to benefit from just short-term cellaring and have 15+ years of prime drinking." 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the blockbusters in the vintage is unquestionably the 2015 Maury Sec Serge & Nicolas. Made from the usual blend of 60% Grenache, 28% Syrah and 12% Carignan that was brought up primarily in tank, it has awesome notes of blackberries, licorice, crushed rocks and violets. With off the charts purity, full-bodied richness and finely polished tannin, it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face over the coming 5-7 years. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity and fine texture, brilliantly structure by crisp acidity, finishing long and very tasty." 93 points John Gilman: "As I noted last summer, the 2013 Sky Zinfandel is a first class bottle and every bit as fine an example of Mount Veeder terroir as those illustrious Cabernets made just up the hill at Mayacamas! The bouquet is pure, soil-driven and complex and shows just how serious this varietal can be in the right hands, as it wafts from the glass in a classy blend of black raspberries, spit-roasted game, fine mountain soil tones, cigar smoke and a panoply of exotic spice elements in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodie...

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Champoux Vineyard is stunning, busting from the glass with a precocious bouquet of ripe cherries, minty blackberries, violets and anise. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and almost voluptuous, with velvety, melting tannins that frame a succulent core of beautifully delineated fruit. The finish is long and fragrant. 93 points Vinous: "The 2015 Syrah Kimsey Vineyard beautifully captures all the density and concentration that seems to come so naturally at this Ballard Canyon site. Dark and brooding, the 2015 has more than enough fruit to stand up to the potent tannins. I would give the 2015 at least another year or two in bottle to come around. This is an impressive showing from Potek. (AG)" (09/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Syrah Kimsey reveals aromas of ripe blackberry, tar, sweet spices and peony. 'This is a blend of all the Chardonnay we grow at Domaine Eden plus some declassified fruit from our Mount Eden estate, about 35% this vintage.' The 2016 Chardonnay Estate features aromas of acacia, honeyed apples, wet stone, white peach and lemon pith with notions of cheese rind and straw. Just like our delicious 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, this 2019 was made by a very famous Oakville region winemaker. We can't tell you who made it or at which Oakville property it was made, but let it be known this winemaker was voted by Robert Parker (when he was active in the wine scoring scene) as the best winemaker in the world. Plenty of bright citrus nuances here with a kiss of oak. This wine is so good you will drink two bottles in a sitting. Refreshing acidity and a delightful, long finish. And the price is much lower than the property's flagship relea...

Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, it has plenty of ripeness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Medium to full-bodied, it offers deep, intense flavor layers with a pleasantly chewy frame, seamless freshness and a long, very flavorful finish. 91-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Not yet bottled, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Oliane will certainly be an outstanding wine. It has a racy yet also textured style, with classy lemon, white flowers, apple blossom aromas and flavors. Winemaker Chris Peterson continues to fashion some of the most impressive wines in the State. These are always more classical in style and show plenty of acidity and structure in their youth, yet they blossom with just short term cellaring and are brilliant wines." 94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is suave, silky and super-polished. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, pomegranate and wild flowers give the 2016 a distinctly exotic quality that is hugely appealing. Medium in body and decidedly gracious, the 2016 speaks to finesse above all else. Although a few years in bottle will only help, the Spring Mountain is the most accessible of these 2016s. 97 points International Wine Review: "The ‘Helichrysum’ Brunello di Montalcino from San Polino is fabulous effort that offers wonderful characteristics of black plums, blackberries, roasted coffee beans, ripe cherries and toasted hazelnuts. Beautiful tension, while remaining well-extracted and voluminous.
