Monica Larner writes: "This winery was founded in the 1960s by a dentist named Piero Mancini who had a deep passion for wine. The estate grew over the next two decades to its current 70-hectare size. It has vineyards that look towards the Olbia Gulf in the Gallura district in northern Sardinia. Today, the winery is run by Piero's wife Marisa and their children Laura, Antonio and Alessandro."

Paolo Melis and Enrico Diana started Bresca Dorada in 1986, in the wild inland countryside of Sardinia, near Muravera. Both from the city of Cagliari, they met at a bee-keeping course.
