97 points Wine Enthusiast: "'For me, this vintage is what makes Margaux special,' says Margaux winemaker Paul Pontallier. He is right: With its denseness, spice, flavors of black currants layered with dryness and fresh acidity, this is a huge and impressive wine that never forgets that it is Margaux. It is still young, and the dry tannic aftertaste, which lasts for many minutes, shows this. (RV)" (06/2005) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Suave from the start, with beguiling tea, singed sandalwood and lilac notes backed by alluring, gently steeped red and bl...

96 points Vinous: "The 2015 Brane-Cantenac is powerful, structured and explosive in feel. A deep, resonant wine, the 2015 boasts off the charts ripeness allied to formidable structure and tannic heft. I imagine the 2015 is going to need a number of years to become approachable and more than that to be at its best. The dark stone fruit, smoke, tobacco, spice and leather flavors pack a huge punch, but it is the wine's balance that places it among the elite on the Left Bank in 2015. Brane-Cantenac is a total pleasure bomb. I can't wait to taste it with a li...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This luscious, ripe wine is both balanced and generous. Acidity comes from the freshness of the vintage, bringing out fruitiness to complement the tannins. The wine will develop well. (RV)" (01/2020) 93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Siran has turned out beautifully. Dark and rich with tons of nuance, Siran is super expressive in 2017 in the mid-weight style of the vintage. Wild cherry, plum, dried flowers, mint, tobacco and smoke are all laced together in this pretty, inviting Margaux. (AG)" (03/2020) 92 points Decanter: "This ...

92 points James Suckling: "Loads of sweet raspberry aromas here. Full and chunky, with lots of fresh fruit underneath. This is rich and powerful." (03/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, the 2003 Kirwan exhibits a dense plum/ruby color, sweet creme de cassis notes intermixed with spicy fruitcake and cedarwood, medium to full body, good freshness, sweet tannin and a long finish. This beauty has hit its plateau of maturity, but it is in no danger of falling apart. (RP)" (08/2014) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Classy a...

2018 La Tour de Mons, Margaux
Top Pick!
92-93 points James Suckling: "A chunky and powerful 2018 with lots of berry, chocolate and walnut character. Full body. Flavorful. " (04/2019) 89-92 points Vinous: "The 2018 La Tour de Mons is powerful, rich and deep, with tons of fruit intensity and overall richness. Blood orange, spice, cedar and dark red cherry all run though this racy, boisterous Margaux. Extroverted and inviting, the 2018 will drink well pretty much upon release. (AG)" (04/2019) 88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 La Tour de Mons is deep garnet-purple colored,...

93-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another winner from Margaux is the 2018 Château Labégorce, which is an interesting blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (although I was given slightly different blends for the two samples tasted). Aging in 40% new oak, this deeply colored effort offers a beautiful perfume of blueberries, raspberries, flowers, and spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, has remarkable purity, and fine tannins, and should be approachable right out of the gate. It’s worth mentioning this ...

2017 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux
Top Pick!
94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blueberries and stone with some dried-flower notes. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a medium finish. Linear and refined with a very fine line of tannins running through it." (01/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Malescot St. Exupery is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot aged in French oak, 70% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it is redolent of warm red and black currants, kirsch and raspberry pie on the nose with floral wafts, tobacco and wild ...

94 points Decanter: "This is the definition of a wine to buy in an off-vintage. It has the signature of the last few years, but in an early-drinking package. It's a little oaky and smoky for sure, but handles it well and delivers punch and personality without overstating the case. Ripe damson fruits help to deliver impact, even if the fruit is generally a touch below the exuberance of the last two years. Planted in the vineyard to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. (JA)" (04/2018) 93-94 points James Suckling: "This is really fresh and...

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Blockbuster stuff, the 2017 Chateau Marquis D'Alesme Becker hails from a 15-hectare vineyard of mostly sandy, gravelly soils located in the heart of the Margaux appellation. Since the arrival of Marjolaine de Coninck in 2009, this estate has been firing on all cylinders. The 2017 is based on 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in 65% new French oak, with the balance in a mix of 1-4-year-old barrels. Inky hued with stunning notes of cassis, ground herbs, tobacco, chocolate, and smoked ...

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "With its new cellars, the estate is performing at top speed and this vintage keeps up the fine track record. Firm tannins and beautifully perfumed fruit are blending together to give a wine that has style as well as structured fruitiness, with all the elegance of great Margaux. Think long-term aging for this wine. (RV)" (06/2020) 93 points Decanter: "Careful extraction of the sappy, and enjoyably structured, blackcurrant and blackberry fruits. This is a quality Kirwan that, as with last year, is a fairly serious take on t...

2019 Palmer, Margaux 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
98 points Decanter: "Iris and violet aromatics swirl out of the glass. In the mouth, things are velvet in texture and packed with concentrated cassis puree and blackberry fruit, gentle spice, soft charcoal and sappy tannins, with the whole thing just slowly slowly expanding and building through the palate, tightening its grip as it reaches the close of play. The Palmer signature of energy and precision is here in spades, and altogether the wine is both measured and elegant, with textbook floral Margaux character, while being extremely juicy, creamy and e...

94-95 points James Suckling: "This is a dense and very structured young red with currant and citrus character, such as burnt orange. Full-bodied with chewy yet polished tannins and a long and flavorful finish." (04/2019) 93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a smoky, powerful wine that shows plenty of signs of wood aging. However, it is restrained by the fine berry fruit flavors and the intensity of the tannins. It will age well. (RV)" (04/2019) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Lascombes is deep garnet-purple in color and a litt...

99 points James Suckling: "There is ripeness and opulence to this, in an almost exotic and sassy way. Crushed berries with chocolate and spice. Floral and cashmere undertones. This starts off slowly and just rolls off the palate with beautifully polished tannins and a salty, minerally note to the long, extended tannins. Really brilliant. So classy. Structured. " (01/2020) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Chateau Margaux is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, ...

97-98 points James Suckling: "A very powerful and dense white with loads of dried lemons and cooked peaches. Full-bodied with chewy phenolic tension and texture. Extremely long. Lasts for minutes. Layered!" (04/2019) 95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the whites of the vintage is the 2018 Château Margaux Pavillon Blanc, which is all Sauvignon Blanc brought up in barrel. This racy, medium to full-bodied beauty offers a terrific sense of freshness and tension as well as complex notes of lemon curd, white grapefruit, white flowers, and salty minerality. Vi...

94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is poised between great ripeness and a mineral, textured character, while also showing a robust tannic structure. Its richness is tempered by the freshness of the vintage. There is plenty of long-term aging potential in this wine that continues the great improvements at the estate. (RV)" (06/2020) 93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Prieuré-Lichine soars from the glass, showing tremendous aromatic depth and tons of pure drive. Silky and plush on the palate, the 2019 has so much going on. Super-ripe red cherry, red p...

96-97 points James Suckling: "The black color indicates a solid and structured red with loads of blackberry and blueberry character. Full-bodied and very tight and tensioned. Savory tannins that are powerful and intense at the finish. Classically structured. Finely toned and formed young red." (04/2019) 95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a powerful wine with a great future that displays a rich, juicy blackberry flavor and ripe tannins. It is well-structured and generous in fruit, yet well balanced and shows promise for the future. (RV)" (04/2019) ...

2007 Labegorce Zede, Margaux (1.5L)
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "From 2009, Labégorce-Zédé will no longer exist, being amalgamated with Château Labégorce-Margaux. So this 2007 is one of the last vintages. The wine has solid but lively black fruits, the tannins dark, firm and full of blackberry juice flavors with a touch of cranberry dryness. It is definitely for aging. (RV)" (06/2010) Wine Spectator: "Delicate aromas of currant and flowers follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and an aftertaste of licorice and delicate berry. Fresh and elegant. (JS, Web Only-2010)" K&L Notes...

The wine will develop well. (RV)" (01/2020) 90-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Château Siran should certainly be an outstanding wine. Giving up lots of black fruits, charcoal, and graphite notes, it’s medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and with solid ripeness and depth. It’s an impressive effort from Margaux." (04/2018) 93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Siran has tu...

94-95 points James Suckling: "The tannin quality is very pretty here with blackberry, walnut and hazelnut aromas and flavors. Full body, integrated tannins and a fruity finish. Pretty center palate. Grows at the end. Shows finesse and refinement." (05/2020) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Lascombes charges out of the gate with brazen scents of blackcurrant jelly, Black Forest cake and black raspberries plus touches of cedar chest, lilacs, pencil lead, camphor and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodie...

96 points Decanter: "The black fruits burrow downwards through the palate at first, keeping things pretty closed, everything holding its breath, before the fruit opens. There is the precision of Rauzan Ségla that is reminiscent of the 2016, less of the immediate voluptuous impact of 2018 but the density becomes extremely clear in the glass. A serious Rauzan, cassis and cedar, still with a rinse of iris flowers to give it the Margaux touch. 3.73pH. 50/50 1st and 2nd wine. A yield of 42l/ha. (JA)" (06/2020) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: 2019 Bordeaux Futures a...

96 points Decanter: "A thoroughly moreish and high-quality Brane Cantenac, this is silky and seductive with impressive extraction of the tannins giving backbone and support to brambled and cassis fruits. Plenty of crushed stone and spice to add a gourmet edge alongside the just-smoked oak. Extremely high quality and one of the best Branes I've tasted at this stage. 3% of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc complete the blend. For the first time, all of the plots for this wine come from the plateau de Brane just in front of the château, a reflection of how we...

93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Quintessential Margaux notes of red and blue fruits, sandalwood, flowery incense, and baking spices emerge from the 2019 Château Labégorce. Medium to full-bodied, it has a plush, sexy texture, sweet tannins, and a great finish. A final blend of 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and a splash of Petit Verdot that was raised in 40% new French oak, it's going to have loads of upfront appeal yet cruise for two decade or more in cold cellars." 96-97 points James Suckling: "This is a very pure expression of cabernet sauvignon with blackcurrants, blackberries and tar. Wet earth, too. It’s full-bodied, yet very tight and reserved. Extremely racy, intense finish. This is super precise. Classical." (05/2020) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 D'Issan soars out of the glass with expressive scents of baked red currants, warm cassis and black cherry compote with hints of powdered cinnamon, potpourri, Provence herbs and aniseed plus a waft of fallen lea...

98 points James Suckling: "Very perfumed and subtle with dried flowers and citrus, as well as blue fruit. " (01/2020) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored, 2017 Palmer gives a very serious nose of pronounced blackcurrant cordial, warm plums and blackberry...

96-97 points James Suckling: "Succulent and gorgeous with such supple tannins, yet it’s full bodied and very rich. It’s very savory, too. The flavours spiral down through your mouth, anchoring themselves to your palate and holding on, totally moreish and very much in the style of the house, with a kick upwards on the finish. Bright, juicy notes of black cherries, framboise, and cassis give way to more spicy oak, chocolate, and dried flower notes. This beauty is medium to full-bodied and has a plush, sexy texture, notable freshness and purity, ripe tannins, and a great finish. 1975 Palmer, Margaux
Back In Stock!
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Palmer has consistently been one of the top wines of the vintage. The color remains a dark ruby with no signs of amber. The wine reveals plenty of sweet fruit in the fragrant bouquet. Although more tannic than most top vintages of Palmer, this is a full-bodied, rich, concentrated wine with the vintage's toughness and high tannin well-displayed. Yet I believe it possesses enough sweet fruit and extract to stand up to the tannin. Shockingly, the most developed bottle of 1975 Palmer I have tasted was from a...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Under the helm of Marjolaine de Coninck, who arrived from Fonplegade in 2009, this estate has been firing on all cylinders, and they've made a beautiful 2017 Chateau Labegorce. Based on 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that spent 14 months in 45% new oak, its deep purple/plum color is followed by a complex, medium to full-bodied, seamless Margaux that has complexity as well as depth and richness. Very fine indeed. Fit, fruity and reserved. Superb." (02/2013) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Palmer is one of the superstars of the vintage, a blend of 54% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, which is just slightly different than what I indicated two years ago. Bid on this bottle of 1983 Palmer, Margaux (100DC, 98JS, 98RP, 96JD). Decanter: "Smoky, floral and fabulous. Violet-edged, this stands out over the 1982 for its complexity of aromatics and flavours. Brambled blackberry notes meld with soft leather and liquorice, all perfectly finessed. Harvest 28 September until 13 October, around one week later than the 1982. A touch of Petit Verdot finishes up the blend. Peter Sichel, who was making the wine at the time, was convinced straight after harvest that the 1982 was better than the 1983. 'He was right,' says Thomas Duroux today. Certainly sugar levels were a touch higher than the previous year, and the fruit character generous from the earliest years. (JA)" (07/2018)
Starting Bid: $420.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1985 d'Issan, Margaux (90CG). Connoisseurs Guide: "I cannot recall having ever tasted the 1985 d’Issan previously, but the wine turned out to be one of the great positive surprises of our October tasting. This is one of the lowest octane wines of the vintage, coming in at 11.5 percent alcohol, but it has turned out to be a lovely and very stylish middleweight of very impressive complexity and breed. The wine wafts from the glass in a classy blend of cassis, dark berries, singed tobacco, dark soil tones, a touch of clam shell and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is medium-full, low fat and very complex, with a good core, fine focus and balance, modest tannins and excellent length and grip on the classic finish. This wine is fully into its apogee of peak drinkability, but will continue to cruise along for many decades to come. A lovely wine of the old school. 90+" (09/2014)
Starting Bid: $271.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Cantenac-Brown, Margaux (91WS). Wine Spectator: "Shows blackberry, treacle tart and licorice aromas. Full-bodied, with wonderful vanilla, berry and milk chocolate character, followed by a long finish. Needs time to develop." (03/2008)
Starting Bid: $165.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1983 Margaux, Margaux (98DC, 98JS, 98WS, 96RP). James Suckling: "This has always been said to be the best wine of the 1983 vintage in Bordeaux because the appellation of Margaux performed slightly better in 1983 than in the legendary 1982 vintage. It certainly is more structured than the 1982 Margaux. It is incredibly fresh and clean still. It's full-bodied and tannic, structured and powerful yet shows such balance and length. Decant three hours before serving." (06/2016)
Starting Bid: $1,400.00

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Rauzan-Sègla, Margaux (94DC, 94VN, 90RP). Vinous: "The 2000 Rauzan-Ségla was the only vintage that I procured myself out in the market because of many fond memories. I am so glad I did fill in the gap because I feel it is a rather overlooked gem. It has a gorgeous bouquet, a little backward at first but then opening with black cherries, blueberry jam and hints of Provençal herbs, though none of the saddle leather I noticed back in 2010. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, nigh perfect acidity and a rich, quite grippy finish. The estate prefers the 2001 but I find this possesses more ambition. (NM)" (04/2019)
Starting Bid: $116.11

Bid on this bottle of 1982 Palmer, Margaux (97DC, 93ST, 92JG, 90RP, 90WS). Decanter: "At this point in Palmer's history, the estate was being run by Peter Sichel, and was under the ownership of, as today, the Sichel and Mahler-Besse families. You can clearly tell that the heatwave in July, and the hot dry harvest (although with a damp August and early September) suited these grapes. The aromatics are still seductively rich, the colour more brick-tinged than the 1983. Soft end of summer raspberries, along with clear iodine notes that give a saline lick on the finish. (JA)" (07/2018)
Starting Bid: $245.00

Bid on this bottle of 1981 Margaux, Margaux (95WS, 91RP). Wine Spectator: "The other wine of the vintage. Seriously powerful with fabulous color and mint, cassis and berry aromas and flavors. Has a full body and is tannic; still needs time to come around. (JS)" (10/1994)
Starting Bid: $310.00

Bid on this bottle of 1989 Palmer, Margaux (97VN, 95RP, 92JG, 92WS). Vinous: "The 1989 Palmer has vied with the 1983 as the highlight of the decade, so it is fascinating to revisit it at 30 years old. It has a wonderful bouquet of degraded red berry fruit, singed leather and hints of game and mint, beautifully defined and still so fresh, yet undeniably old-school in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and still brimming with vigor, delivering a fine bead of acidity and a touch of cracked black pepper. A very detailed, engaging finish urges you back for another sip. A brilliant Palmer, and judging from this showing, it has another two decades of pleasure to give. Tasted from an ex-cellar bottle at the château. (NM)" (09/2019)
Starting Bid: $290.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux (97JS, 95WS, 94RP, 91DC, 91VN). James Suckling: "Some very rich and ripe red and dark berries here make for an impressive, engaging nose that has charming violet undertones. The palate is velvety and supple, while super smooth tannins deliver a long and plush, plum-soaked finish. Great wine and already drinking well. " (02/2018)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Margaux, Margaux (100RP, 98ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Château Margaux has turned into a sensational wine that eclipses both the 1988 and 1989...and then some. It has a gorgeous, ethereal bouquet with sumptuous red berry fruit, leather, camphor and licorice—it is the kind of nose in which you just immerse yourself. Is there a hint of brettanomyces here? If there is, I don't really care. The palate is soft and sensual with incredible depth. Fleshy and corpulent for Chateau Margaux, and yet surfeit with breeding and finesse, there are layers or red fruit, kirsch, sage and fig, later tobacco and cloves. I feel that this 1990 Château Margaux is at its peak and yet the harmony, the sheer swagger of this wine just wins you over. Magnificent. (NM)" (10/2016)
