Côtes de Gascogne is primarily known for the production of Armagnac; it wasn’t until the last 20 years or so that producers began to take table wine production seriously. Traditionally, these wines would have been distilled into Armagnac. Producers found that by fermenting at lower temperatures in stainless steel, they could develop and preserve more powerful aromatics. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This powerful and dense wine has both impressive tannins and great black fruits. It is rich with black-plum-skin and dark berry flavors. The concentration of low-yield vines is lifted by the acidity and final rich fruitiness. Age this major wine and drink from 2021. (RV) *Editor's Choice* " (06/2018) K&L Notes: Château Peyros is a 17th-century estate situated in the southern part of Madiran. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blend of Tannat with both Cabernets is still young and displaying plenty of firm tannins. Wood aging has added spice to this blackberry-flavored wine, with its rich texture and streak of acidity. It needs to age longer, so drink from 2021. (RV)" (06/2019) K&L Notes: Alain Brumont is one of the stars of Madiran. In 1979 he inherited his father's estate, Château Bouscassé. With little experience in the wine industry, he quickly educated himself and began transforming the landscape of Madiran. Now one of the largest and mo...

Bid on this 3-500 ml-bottle lot of 2003 Chateau Tirecul La Gravière Monbazillac (500ml) (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A 30-year aging curve is possible for the 2003 Chateau. Composed of 55% Semillon and 45% Muscadelle aged nearly 30 months in French oak, it reveals a dark amber color along with a blockbuster bouquet of toffee, maple syrup, roasted hazelnuts, creme brulee, toasted pineapple and assorted honeyed citrus. Terrific acidity balances out the nearly 120 grams per liter of residual sugar. Possessing superb richness, intensity and length, this is an absolute steal that, as mentioned above, will age at least three decades. (RP)" (06/2012)
