2010 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

95 points Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* A classic take on Merlot--this is 100% varietal, and was aged for 15 months in new and neutral French oak barrels and botti. The flavors move through strawberry, raspberry and Bing cherry, with great breadth of flavor and texture throughout. The midpalate is concentrated and full, with a fine, lingering, superclean finish. (PG)" (09/2012) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Shows real presence and depth, offering a vibrant package of red berry, cherry and black currant, with hints of licorice and herbs as the fini ...

2014 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

92 points Vinous: "(from Loess and Mill Creek Upland): Bright ruby-red. Deep, liqueur-like griotte cherry, wild herb and licorice aromas lifted by a slightly high-toned floral element. A lushly fruity, fine-grained fruit bomb on the palate, gaining creaminess with time in the glass. This wine has a pH of 3.52 following a bit of acidification. As sexy as it already is, the tannins currently impinge a bit on the finishing fruit, so I'd wait a year or two. Merlot for Pinot lovers. Chris Figgins described 2013 and 2014 as "pretty much identical vintages, alt ...

2015 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Along with DeLille, Leonetti's Merlot is always a contender for the Merlot of the vintage. The 2015 Walla Walla Merlot sports a vibrant purple color to go with gorgeously fresh notes of red plum, black cherries intermixed with notes of graphite and spring flowers. Supple, polished and fruit-forward, with light tannin and good concentration, it's already hard to resist and made in a forward, delicious style. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more. (JD)" (06/2017) 93 points Vinous: "Dark ruby-red. Inviti ...

2012 K Vintners "Northridge Vineyard" Wahluke Slope Merlot

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 100% Merlot that saw 60% new French oak, the 2012 Merlot Northridge Vineyard is a plump, rounded, sexy Merlot that's loaded with notions of blueberry, violets, plums and graphite. It's hard to resist, and I see no reason to delay gratification either. As usual, this was a massive lineup by Washington's wild man, Charles Smith. Despite the larger-than-life persona, these wines are dead serious and are always some of the best I'm able to taste from the state. All of the Rhone varieties see 100% whole cl ...

2015 L'Ecole No. 41 Columbia Valley Merlot

92 points James Suckling: " Blackberry and violet aromas with hints of hazelnut. Medium-bodied and layered. Polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink or hold. " (05/2018) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Foresty and even a touch meaty, this Merlot has a black-cherry core of flavor that’s deep and satisfying; cedar and redwood tips give the wine a subtly savory finish. It’s a complex Merlot for rosemary roast chicken." (08/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a true pan-Washington Merlot, with fruit coming from nine vineyards across the state. Blended with ...

1994 Chateau Ste Michelle "Cold Creek" Columbia Valley Merlot

91 points Wine Spectator: "Bright, smooth and striving for elegance, it's not a big wine, but the pretty raspberry, floral and chocolate notes expand and enrich in the glass. A layer of chewy tannins needs until 1999 to resolve. 2,800 cases made." (08/97)

2013 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The only 2013 I was able to taste from Leonetti, the 2013 Merlot (includes 8% Cabernet Franc) is a blockbuster from this team that’s certainly one of the best examples of this variety in the state. Giving up gorgeously pure notes of blackcurrants, licorice, charcoal and Asian spice, this medium to full-bodied beauty has a voluptuous, layered and seamless texture, building, fine tannin and a terrific finish. Seeing 15 months in new and once-used French oak (small barrels, puncheons and oval botti), it will have 20 ...

2011 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming from the estate Loess, Seven Hills and Mill Creek Upland vineyards in Walla Walla, the 2011 Merlot is a superb, plush and yet gorgeously elegant and detailed effort that boasts knockout aromatics of spring flowers, black cherry, plum, licorice and dusty mineral on the nose. Already complex and approachable, it nevertheless has full-bodied richness on the palate, as well as a supple, mouth-filling texture, juicy acidity and no hard edges. Drink it over the coming decade. Drink now-2023. (JD)" (06/2013) 93 ...

2012 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Merlot, which was already in bottle at the time of this tasting, offers an elegant, yet sexy style, with gorgeous black raspberry and creme de cassis fruit, toast, dried spices and licorice, with hints of background tobacco and green herbs, all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, plump, pure and layered, with a fabulous texture and a big finish, it’s a beautiful wine to drink over the coming decade or more. 2016 Seven Hills Walla Walla Merlot

91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Starting with the 2016 Merlot Walla Walla Valley (there's 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc), it offers a deep ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of blueberries, plums, spicy wood, and leafy herbs. It's juicy, medium-bodied, balanced, and a smoking value." (04/2019) 90 points James Suckling: "Ripe spiced plums and blackberries with bright violets and vanilla, leading to a palate that has a mid-weight feel and bright, easy tannins. Nice bright and easy style. Drink now. " (05/2018) Vinous: "(aged for 16 months ...

2007 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a floral take on Merlot, in both scents and flavors; owing at least in part to the inclusion of 7% Petit Verdot. The wine gathers strength and fleshes out as it warms in the glass, and layers in darker notes with smoke and coffee and tar. A steely style, muscular and tight, it smoothes out nicely with breathing time, and shows excellent aging potential. (PG)" (09/2009) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The purple-colored 2007 Merlot contains 7% Petit Verdot. The nose offers up a whiff of new oak along with sc ...

1997 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot

91 points Wine Spectator: "Dense in texture and distinctive in flavor, with floral, spicy, peppery notes swirling around the black cherry flavor at the core. Has more fruit and less obvious oak than previous vintages; as a result it feels a bit raucous now, but there's plenty of character packed into it." (09/1999) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice, smoke, herbs and spices on the nose, plus a slight medicinal quality. Juicy and intensely flavored, with sound supporting acidity; initially seemed rather ...

2015 Columbia Crest "H3" Horse Heaven Hills Merlot

Musky aromas of black cherry, blackberry, licorice, cocoa powder and herbs. Plush, velvety and seamless, offering modest depth but good mouth coverage to its black cherry, dark chocolate, menthol and licorice flavors. Finishes with dusty tannins and modest length. A very easygoing Merlot with good texture and fruit. (ST)" (10/2017) Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of plu ...

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot (94RP, 93W&S, 92WE, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Though less powerful than the 2003, the aromatically floral 2004 Merlot holds its own in a qualitative comparison. Its nose of roses, wild berries, and cherries leads to a medium to full-bodied, pure core of spicy black cherries. (PR)" (04/2006)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot (95RP, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Merlot is deep crimson-colored with alluring aromas of pain grille, spice box, cranberry, red currant, and black currant. This leads to an opulent Merlot with gobs of spicy red and black fruits, silky tannins that will support 4-6 years of further evolution, superb balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It will provide prime-time drinking from 2012 to 2025. Quilceda Creek Vintners remains a model of consistency. In the outstanding 2005 vintage, Quilceda Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon remains the benchmark for what can be achieved in Washington and the United States. (JM)" (06/2008)

2005 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot (95WE, 94RP, 92W&S, 92WS, 90ST). Wine Enthusiast: "Bright, saturated, and deeply colored, this poster child Merlot proves that there is no other place in the world that can do Merlot in this style. Magnificent in color, aroma, depth and texture; it is polished, elegant, firm and confident. Blossom, fruit, herb and barrel aromas are beautifully interwoven. The tightly packed fruit has it all, from red, blue and black berries on to cherry and cassis. The mid-palate, though quite full, is fleshy and tight. The acids are firm but not sour, the tannins fine and smooth and ripe. The finish, still young and compact, hints at an almost existential longevity." (11/2007)

2003 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot (95RP, 93WE, 90ST, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Though I was not a fan of the 2002, I was enraptured by the 2003 Merlot. Chocolate, cassis liqueur, cherries jubilee, spices, and violets are found in its magnificent aromatics. Aged in 80% new oak (of which 80% is French and the balance Pennsylvanian), this concentrated gem slathers the palate with black raspberries, spices, copious quantities of cherries, and blackberries that envelope its significant tannin.
