2014 Sella e Mosca Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Vibrant, fresh and fruity, the 2014 Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva is an extremely well-priced red to pair with Sardinian gnocchi (malloreddus) topped with sausage tomato and saffron. In truth, any other basic Italian pasta recipe will do just fine next to a wine of this wide versatility and easy appeal. The bouquet possesses a dark core of cherry and red currant. 2015 Sella e Mosca Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva

Winery notes: "Mature and refined aromas. The fresh scent of violet is perfectly integrated with notes of jam, plums, blackcurrants and oriental spices. The palate is solid, well-structured and warm in its embrace, but always well-balanced, thanks also to fresh bursts of balsam and medicinal herbs and berries. The aftertaste presents toasted hints before returning to the spicy route."

2016 Quartomoro Cannonau Di Sardegna Orriu

Cannonau is the Sardinian name for Grenache. As a wine-producing region, Sardinia lingered for years in anonymity, but it’s had a renaissance in quality starting with just a few wineries, and it’s growing. Piero Cella, who started his tiny Quartomoro label as a side job, is part of that renaissance. An enologist, he has worked all over Sardinia, in almost every region, spending years documenting soil types and grape varieties. While he reeks of the scientific method he has much more of an emotional bond with the people he works with. He buys grapes from ...Read More »
