91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Superripe grapes are the secret behind this rich wine. Although it is dry, this floral wine offers a touch of honey that balances the crisp apple flavors and opulent texture. Still young, this intense wine deserves to age. Drink from 2020. (RV)" (09/2018) K&L Notes: Established over 50 years ago, the 4th generation of the Denis family now runs this operation. Julien is the winemaker, Stephane in charge of the viticulture and Vincent oversees the administration and sales. Over the last decades the property has grown from 5 ...

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Drought conditions followed by a cool harvest season produced a stunning version of Adi Badenhorst’s entry-level chenin. He took an unusual approach in 2018, harvesting the fruit over the course of 12 days and adding each day’s fruit to the already-fermenting musts. All of it was whole-bunch pressed, and one-quarter was fermented in old casks, the rest in tanks. Left on its lees for seven months with occasional stirring, the final wine is as deep and rich in flavor as its yellow hue predicts: It moves from waxy apple flavors to...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Elegant, showing a gentle texture, with intense acidity giving energy to the flavors of yellow apple, lime and honeysuckle. Salty mineral elements emerge midpalate, leaving a savory aftertaste. *Smart Buy* (AZ)" (10/2019) K&L Notes: #65 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2019 This project is headed by Vincent Carême of Loire Valley fame. Inspired by the South African landscape (and perhaps also by his wife, Tania, who hails from the Cape region), he has decided to create this southern expression of Chenin Blanc.

All the wines at this beautiful little organic domaine are made from 100% Chenin Blanc but vary in degrees of sweetness depending on where the grapes are harvested from. Planted in the sandy clay soils over tuffeau (that magical chalky soil of the Loire), these wines show the range of the quality that can be found in Vouvray for a mere pittance.

Sourced from across the broad Western Cape region of South Africa, Radley & Finch offers this Chenin Blanc at an attractive entry-level price. Grapes were sourced from both bush vines and trellised vines primarily in the Agter Paarl and Swartland regions. Winemaker Thinus Kruger primarily utilized indigenous yeasts in a particularly slow fermentation to develop complexity. The result is a citrusy and yellow-fruited profile with hints of spice and grain. It is ready to drink right now, but will fill out and add complexity for a couple of years.

"The CURATOR is a range of dynamic wines that are selected after the vintage each year. The grapes are grown in the Swartland region on the West Coast of Southern Africa. The vineyards are mostly bushvines growing in granite and slate soils, sourced from a number of traditional farmers. Chenin Blanc is the backbone and structure of this blend. The Chardonnay was naturally fermented and took a long time to complete fermentation, resulting in great texture and wacky aromas of dried peaches and apricots and ripe citrus. The Viognier, from one of Badenhorsts...

KL Notes: Craig Haarmeyer is a third generation Sacramenten who has been responsible for coining the term "Sacramento Terroir". He and his family are responsible for all of production, from picking to bottling, and believe in celebrating the history, place, and naturalness of varieties grown around the Sacramento area. Favoring vineyard sites that are grown sustainably and organic, Craig believes in allowing the terroir to express itself with a hands off approach to winemaking, stating "We add nothing but elbow grease." *natural ...

"Creating wines in harmony with nature" is the philosophy of Jean-Noël Millon, seventh-generation family winemaker at this family run estate. Located in the village of Varrains, just a short distance from the town of Saumur, Jean-Noel farms 14 hectares of vineyards biodynamically all planted on the clay-limestone tuffeaux that makes the region so special. The Coulee d'Aunis is 100% Chenin Blanc from one hectare that is all hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and spends about one year in primarily used barrique. The result is a remarkable ...

93 points John Gilman: "The 2016 Vouvray 'Utopie' Demi-Sec from Florent Cosme comes from his oldest parcel of vines, which are more than seventy years of age. The wine is raised similarly to the la Motte Sec in four hundred liter, four-to-eight year-old barrels. The wine delivers a fine aromatic constellation of sweet quince, a touch of pineapple, incipient honeycomb, flinty soil tones and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with great mid-palate depth, bright, zesty acids and excellent leng...

Wine Spectator: "Lively, with green almond, honeysuckle and melon notes zipping through. (JM, Web-2019)" K&L Notes: Andrea Mullineux’s 2018 Kloof Street is a stunning example of exceptional South African Chenin, produced by one of South Africa’s best winemakers. Named Wine Enthusiast’s “Winemaker of the Year” in 2017, this American expat living in Swartland has been crafting stunning wines since 2007. Producer notes: "The Kloof Street Chenin Blanc comes from three sustainably farmed vineyard parcels in different parts of the Swartland: One parcel of 35...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A south-facing parcel on shale soil has produced this rich wine packed with tropical-fruit flavors as well as crisper apple and citrus acidity. Aged in wood, the wine has some spice, but it really celebrates great fruit and wonderful acidity. Drink from 2020. (RV)" (06/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "The floral aromas on the nose draw you in, while hints of ground anise and coriander introduce the palate. Combining power and grace, the elements of ripe orchard fruit, lemon verbena and prominent minerality mingle to create a...

91 points Winedoctor.com: "This is 100% Chenin Blanc, from limestone soils. It is already in bottle. The nose is softly fragrant, with a gentle citrus-fruit substance, dressed with pretty and expressive notes of perfumed chalk. A similarly charming palate follows, with a gentle white peach and apricot character. Through the middle it feels fresh and plump, but overall the style is reserved, with restrained fruit but a nice phenolic backbone. Pretty, but it doesn't seem to communicate the generosity of the vintage." 91/100 (February 2019)
Price: $29.99

91 points Wine Spectator: "Silky, with great intensity and focus coming from the firm backbone of acidity, which stands behind the flavors of stone fruit, white raspberry, elderflower and lime. A vanilla bean note emerges on the inviting finish. Enjoyable now, but will show better in several years. Best from 2021 through 2029. (AZ, Web Only-2019)" (09/2019) K&L Notes: 91-93 points Chris Kissack, Winedoctor.com: "This is Vincent's négociant Vouvray, made from purchased fruit, with 13.2% alcohol and 4 g/l residual sugar. The aromatics here are pure, fres...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Organically grown grapes from a single parcel go into this resplendent wine. Touched lightly by wood but much more focused on honey and apple, spice and intense acidity, the wine is ripe, peppery and set to age. Drink from 2022. (RV)" (12/2018) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A plump, ripe style that flirts with an off-dry feel, as ginger, pear, McIntosh apple and quince flavors race through, carried by a note of piecrust. Juicy energy throughout gives this a flattering feel. Drink now through 2026. (JM)" (11/2018) K&L Notes: ...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This medium-bodied wine tastes vivid and tangy but also boasts rich, ripe and round characteristics that broaden the flavors and lead to a lingering finish. It shows an abundance of ripe pear, apple and citrus flavors that really wake up the taste buds. *Editors’ Choice* (JG)" (12/2019) K&L Notes: A wine that Robert Parker has called "a consistent, big-time winner in the value sweepstakes," the Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Vionier blend is a wine you can count on.

93 points Wine Spectator: "A stunning Chenin, with lots of power and drive, yet enough elegance to keep drawing you back for another sip. Notes of ground ginger elevate the yellow plum and Bosc pear flavors, while the minerality and acidity meet to create a substantial structure. Hard to resist now, but this will benefit from further development. Best from 2021 through 2029. 10,000 cases made, 1,200 cases imported. (AZ)" (09/2019) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is the main production from the 27-acre property owned by Loïc Mahé. Tank fermented and ag...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With its slightly brassy hue and hints of apricot on the nose, one wonders if a bit of botrytis found its way into the 2017 Te Arai Vineyard Chenin Blanc. There's plenty of upfront fruit in this medium-bodied offering, from those bits of stone fruit to melon and bergamot, plus hints of beeswax and wet wool, but the wine's finish falls off a bit quickly. I'd opt for drinking it over the short term. (JC)" (02/2019)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Crisp, lively and refreshing, this medium-bodied wine offers a tangy citrus flavor and a light mineral accent that adds complexity. It's a natural pairing for seafood. *Editors' Choice* (JG)" (12/2018) Vinous: "The 2017 Chenin Blanc Viognier is a tasty, aperitif-styled white to drink young, while the white peach, apricot and jasmine notes retain their freshness. (AG)" (03/2018)

This is 100% Chenin Blanc from hillside parcels ranging from 15-25 years old just outside the actual village of Vouvray. While this has just a hint of residual sugar, there is ample acidity and varietal character to balance out the faint sweetness. A fantastic and affordable Chenin Blanch from Vouvray!

92 points Vinous: "The 2017 Chenin Blanc Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard Old Vines is unctuous, deep and powerful, with terrific freshness for such a rich, exotic wine. Varietal notes ample up in this beautifully textured, oily Chenin from vines planted in 1996. (AG)" (09/2019) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Always one of the more distinctive white wines from the region, this vintage starts with aromas of lemon skin, forest herbs and chive. The palate is redolent of yellow grapefruit and rides a tense, tangy structure into the long finish. (MK)" (06/2019) Ro...

92 points Vinous: "Golden straw color. Exotic aromas of passion fruit, apricot, acacia honey and jasmine, plus a touch of oyster shell. Sappy, palate-coating pit fruit flavors are impressively deep but also sufficiently lively, with a chalky minerality lending lift and adding precision. Juicy and intensely floral on the classically elegant finish, this is strangely reminiscent of an off-dry riesling auslese from the Rheingau. (JBP)" (12/2014)

96 points, Winedoctor.com: "This is a vintage Philippe Foreau likens to 2002, which means he likes it, because like me Philippe is also a great admirer of that vintage. The alcohol here is 13.5%, and residual sugar 7.8 g/l, the highest ever figure in a sec cuvée from the Foreau family. It has great minerality on the nose still, with peach slices, apricot stone, pear and apple pip. A great style, tense, fresh and cool, carrying bitter citrus fruits, saline elements and white pepper. Wonderful tension and minerality here, in what has to be one of the great...

Winemaker's Notes: "The 2018 L’Isle Verte shows the deliciously savory and mineral qualities of this grape. Leading with salty notes of beach sand, toasted coconut, lime, and a faint hint of mushroom, this wine is truly 'clawed from the earth.' Long, gorgeous, mouth-coating acid, and the structure we’ve come to expect from Willard’s superb old-vine Chenin fruit give way to a lime zesty finish. The Yakima Valley is home to our old vine Chenin Blanc at Willard Farms. This Chenin vineyard has over 40 years of own-rooted development at the highest elevation ...

93 points Chris Kissack, Winedoctor.com: "This is Jérôme's first white cuvée, vinified in stainless steel throughout, and this was bottled on April 11th. I find great purity on the nose, with pear and apple fruit. The palate follows on in the same vein, cool and bright, but possessing lovely density and freshness, with a fine persistence and energy in the end. Cool and refined, showing its colours very clearly, with a great pithy substance of fruit in the finish. Classically styled, with tension and poise. 93/100." (11/2019)

This "Cuvée du Silex" is the reserve bottling of Pascal Janvier. The soils are flint-dominated and the resulting minerality is astounding. This is made from Chenin Blanc and comes from the tiny appellation of Jasnières due north of Vouvray. An unctuous white that's full of raw honey, chamomile, and white flowers. Delicious, supple, and an excellent companion to soft and hard cheeses.

97 points Wine Spectator: "Loaded with mango, quince and fig fruit that works harmoniously with green almond, floral and mineral notes. Terrific creamy texture hides the latent acidity while the flavors glaze your palate on the finish. Both pure and powerful at once, this will age effortlessly. *Highly Recommended* (JM)" (10/2004) 96 points Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (04/2005)

This 100% Chenin Blanc comes from the nearly 40-year-old Saini Vineyard. Winery tasting notes: "This wine has alluring weight and richness, a silky texture and subtle aromas of Chamomile, orchard fruits and lemon confit. The palate offers a medley of Lanolin, white pepper and tea notes, as well as hints of straw that carry through to a lingering almost salty finish."

Wine Spectator: "Strong humus aroma, with cider, orange peel and marzipan flavors. Soft and buttery, this is dropping its acidity as it hits old age, though a flash of its former fruit flickers on the finish.--Baumard non-blind vertical." (11/2004) K&L Notes: Absolutely killer!! This wine has rounder acidity than the 1994 counterpart and is showing quite well now but will continue to evolve.Very rich with honeyed peach and necterine fruit that are well balanced and unfold to a great finish. Quarts de Chaume is a special appellation designation in the A...

Winemaker's Notes: "The 2016 Chenin was the product of an early September pick at a very modest sugar level, suitable for sparkling wine, and a late-harvest pick from which we’d intended to make a demi-sec or moelleux until discovering that the majority of botrytis-infected clusters had been ingested by every bird in sight rendered lethargic, corpulent, barely able to fly, their breath reeking of Bonnezeaux. Also remaining were an intact green, photosynthesizing canopy and a very few, yellow/green, crisp and clean, Central Loire time machine clusters min...

From the importer: "Bodegas Henri Lurton is born from an adventure that links France to Mexico. Henri Lurton, owner of the Grand Cru Classé Château Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, with the support of his eldest sons, Vincent and Nicolas, placed a confident bid on Baja California – convinced of its winemaking potential, the warmth of its people and the generosity of the land. After working for almost 10 years at Château Brane-Cantenac, winemaker Lourdes Martinez Ojeda returned to her hometown of Ensenada to bridge the divide between France and Mexico. Her fir...
