2010 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (OWC - 97JS, 97RP, (93-96VN), 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Wow, this is really quite a wine. The 2010 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is guided by three lucky stars: First, it is made by an excellent producer. Second, it comes from an excellent vintage. And third, it comes from an excellent vineyard site. This is a stunning achievement that is teeming with life, intensity, elegance, pedigree and sheer excitement. The bouquet achieves impressive balance with fruit, spice, mineral and tertiary tones that are all played forward with equal intensity. There is a spot of sweetness on the close (with 15% alcohol) that adds to the volume and fullness of the mouthfeel. This wine merits a special place at the back of your cellar where it can age undisturbed for the next decade or two. (ML)" (09/2018)

1982 Gaja "Sori San Lorenzo" Barbaresco
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gaja "Sori San Lorenzo" Barbaresco (97VN). Vinous: "The 1982 Barbaresco Sorì San Lorenzo is laced with sweet red cherries, freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and pine. This is an especially polished, refined San Lorenzo that emphasizes finesse over the power that is more typical of this site, although there is no shortage of tannin. With air, the 1982 keeps getting better and better. The long, bright finish is particularly of note. (AG)" (11/2014)

1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo (97VN). Vinous: "Medium evolved ruby. This 1978 is nothing short of spectacular in its profoundness. Although the nose shows some evolved notes such as tobacco, there is still plenty of sweet, perfumed fruit, which blossoms on the palate, with incredible persistence, and a lingering note of menthol to round out the exquisite finish. Like the 1978 Monfortino that would follow, the 1978 Bussia appears magically young, although it is a decidedly more delicate and medium-bodied wine. Though fully mature, this shows no signs of fading. Pure magic in a bottle. (AG)" (10/2005)

1982 Gaja "Sori Tildin" Barbaresco
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gaja "Sori Tildin" Barbaresco (95JG, 95VN). Vinous: "The 1982 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn, on the other hand, was awesome. It revealed superb depth in its core of generous fruit, with superb concentration as well as balance. It was a memorable wine in every way. In the late 1970s and 1980s Gaja often waited to harvest until very late in the growing season in order to achieve the ripeness he was looking for. 1982 was the last vintage made with this method as subsequent vintages brought warmer weather than had previously been the case. 2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo (96VN, 94JS, 93RP, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Vinous: "Dark cherries, plums, cloves, violets, incense, orange rind and tobacco meld together in the 2009 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste. A massive, powerful Barolo, the 2009 boasts stunning depth, power and richness, all in a relatively open style for this estate. I imagine the 2009 will drink well relatively early for top-flight Barolo, but it has fabulous class and intensity. (AG)" (10/2013)

1967 Giuseppe Contratto Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1967 Giuseppe Contratto Barolo. Contratto was founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Contratto and the winery is known as the oldest producer of sparkling wine in Italy (they also made red wines, obviously). In fact, the "Metodo Classico" 1919 Contratto Extra Brut was the first vintage sparkling wine ever made in the country. The winery has a long, distinguished history. At the turn of the 20th century, its wines were leaving Canelli for destinations all over the world (predominantly to royal houses), and Contratto was the personal supplier to the Vatican as well as to the Italian Royal Family. Awards and medals from international exhibitions and contests of the time emphasize why the name of Contratto has long been synonymous with prestige and quality.
