2015 La Monacesca "Mirum" Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delicious and loaded with personality, this structured, medium-bodied white opens with bread crust, yellow stone fruit, citrus zest, honey and toasted almond aromas that follow through to the juicy, elegant palate. Fresh acidity brightens the rich flavors. Drink through 2023. (KO)" (07/2018) 91 points James Suckling: "Attractive and subtle pastry-like complexity here. This has an extra dimension, showing better concentration than most in this space. An attractive cool and fresh palate. Drink now." (06/2018)

2016 La Monacesca Verdicchio di Matelica

90 points James Suckling: " This is rather smoky, but also fresh and juicy with plenty of ripe-citrus flavors and good length. An excellent food wine. Drink now. " (11/2018) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine's heady Spanish broom, acacia and yellow stone fruit scents lift out of the glass. The palate mirrors the nose, offering creamy peach, yellow apple and juicy citrus flavors alongside bright acidity. An almond note caps off the finish. *Best Buy* (KO)" (07/2018)

2016 San Lazzaro "Polesio" Marche

Poderi San Lazzaro is a 15-hectare, organically-farmed estate in the Marche, located between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. This lovely and wonderfully affordable Sangiovese shows hints of smoke to complement the floral, cherry-inflected nose. The fruit is clean on the palate, which is medium-bodied, with good acidity, soft tannins and a vein of minerality. Great for pasta night.

2015 Santori Rosso Piceno

Every time I hear the words Rosso Piceno I get excited because I know I’m going to get a wonderful wine! OK, that’s not really the case and as a retailer I have the opposite reaction because it’s almost impossible to sell a wine that no one has ever heard of. I wouldn’t call the Marche a forgotten region—because it was not ever known! You may think that I’m a Marche basher for starting out this way, but it’s the opposite. The Marche is one of my favorite places in Italy. It reminds me of what Italy was like 40 years ago, unspoiled. You won’t meet your ne ...

2015 La Monacesca "Camerte" Marche Rosso

91 points James Suckling: "Very ripe red fruit on the nose for a wine from the Marche. A hint of balsamic vinegar, too. But this has good structure and a lightness of touch at the finish that’s very typical for the region. Drink now. " (11/2018) K&L Notes: The Matelica region of the Marche is one of the most unique growing zones in all of Italy; it is a north-south valley in the middle of the Apennine mountain range that once was a salt lake. The orientation of the valley closes it off from the warm coastal waters (the opposite of the west coast of the ...

2014 Belisario "Cambrugiano" Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva

92 points Vinous: "Luminous straw-green. Finishes very long, clean and fresh, delivering a youthfully chewy bite. It’s also much richer and denser than other wines tasted from Belisario this year. The vines are about 25-30 years of age (Cambrugiano is a Riserva because it is a selection of old vines). About 20-25 percent is aged in barriques, the rest in stainless steel; these two components are blended together after a year and aged another four months in bottle before being released for sale. Made since 1988, Cambrugiano is a historic wine for Matelica ...
