Michel Arnould "Grand Cuvée" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Pure and complex aromas speak of plenty of yeast, brioche, freshly sliced citrus and a whiff of rose petal. On the palate there is equally good complexity thanks to the high percentage of pinot noir to the medium-bodied, firm and utterly delicious flavors that are shaped by a moderately firm and fine effervescence before culminating in a refreshing and inviting finish. This isn't the most elegant Champagne you'll try but I'll wager you won't taste many that have this kind of depth for the price. " (06/2018) K&L Not...

Top Pick!
We can tell you this much: our Kalinda private label hooks you up with awesome wine at a fraction of what you'd otherwise pay for this exact same wine under its normal label. While we have to remain quiet about the source of this lovely red blend from Paso Robles, which contains 36% Syrah, 22% Primitivo (Zinfandel), 19% Grenache, and a few other grapes, we can tell you that it sells elsewhere at a higher premium. Get it while it lasts.

Mas Codina is an estate in the middle Penedes, about an hour's drive from Barcelona. They own about 40 hectares, most of which are planted to Xarel-lo, Macabeu, Parellada, and Pinot Noir, with some Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon as well. While they have been farming organically for a while, they will be certified organic beginning with the 2017 vintage. Proprietors Toni and Jordi Garrida make terrific wine, and while many of our customers have come to rely on their delicious, value sparkler, we expect this tasty, humble Cab to turn many heads ...

Jancis Robinson: "Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan. Rather pretty perfume and light red fruit. Dancing tannins and crackling freshness. A snap of energetic fire-engine-red fruit, ripe but lean, and pepper sprinkled right across the finish. Dry on the end (needs food) but great balance. *Very Good Value* (TC)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: Jacques Coipel worked in the petroleum industry until 2002, when he decided to change career paths and enter the wine business. 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Southern Blend offers beautiful strawberry and kirsch styled fruit to go with plenty of white pepper, herbs de Provence and an almost garrigue like quality. Seamless, supple and up-front, with medium to full-bodied richness, it’s a forward, charming and certainly delicious effort that can be enjoyed now and over the following 7-8 years. Made by Sean Boyd, these releases from Rotie Cellars show classic styles, with bright acidity that is balanced by good depth and richness. (JD)" (06/2014) 92 points ...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Aube-based producer’s latest vintage release is rich and creamy. It is young, although it is possible to find the texture and density that will allow it to age. It is in a crisp style, tight with acidity, finishing taut and mineral. Drink from 2019. (RV)" (08/2018) K&L Notes: This all estate grown gem from Baron Fuente is composed of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier, and 15% Pinot Noir from around Charly-sur-Marne. 2015 Robert Craig Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $90) (Elsewhere $90)

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain offers a classic Mountain fruit profile with its complex aromatics and fresh, focused, chiseled and structured style on the palate. Mulberries, incense, exotic flowers, and spice all leap from the glass of this inky colored Cabernet Sauvignon, and it’s medium to full-bodied, structured and vibrant on the palate. Brought up in 80% new French oak, it has loads of potential but needs 2-4 years of bottle age. 94...

91 points James Suckling: "Big blackberry, chocolate and caramel nose with some spicy oak. This is a pretty bold wine on the palate, but the tannins are not out of line and the overall impression is of expansiveness rather than heaviness. Relatively supple finish. Drink or hold." Michel Arnould Verzenay Extra Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This is 100% Pinot Noir from Verzenay, the northernmost of all the Grand Crus in this northernmost of French wine regions. The whole village faces north, the wrong way, away from the sun, and yet miraculously ripens Pinot Noir, the most difficult Champagne variety to ripen perfectly. Some say it's because of a meteor that in prehistoric times hit the area that is now the village, creating the faux de Verzenay, a forest where the trees bend and fold in on themselves like a dark wood in The Lord of the Rings. The medium-bodied mouth is rounded with plenty of juicy fruit and good length. The Little J Red is a bistro red blend consisting of 86% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault, and 4% Grenache. This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims.
