Champaigne

Champagne

Here you'll find all the familiar and famous producers at very competitive prices, but even more exciting is the smaller grower-producers that we offer. K&L imports many of these grower-producer Champagnes directly, saving you a bunch of money that would otherwise end up in the pocket of an importer or distributor. The folks are able to control the entire process of making their Champagnes, since they do the vineyard work as well as the winemaking. In addition to the Champagne selection shown below, we operate a Champagne Club that you don't want to miss.

2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

98 points James Suckling: "The best Dom since 2002. A vintage with very restrained, powerful style that has been released non-sequentially after the 2009. This has a lighter stamp of highly curated, autolytic, toasty aromas than many recent releases. Instead, this delivers super fresh and intense aromas of lemons, grapefruit and blood-orange peel. Incredible freshness here. The palate has a very smoothly delivered, berry-pastry thread with light, sweet spices, stone fruit and fine citrus fruit. This really delivers. Drink now or hold." 2009 Louis Roederer & Philippe Starck Brut Nature Champagne

94 points James Suckling: "The clarity of chalk and white almond is striking. Gentle perfume with some light cherry fruits, peach, grapefruit and lemon citrus. The palate has a piercing burst of lemon and grapefruit flavor on the front and builds into gently biscuity and more savory flavors through the middle. Holds on to bright zesty acidity into the finish. Smooth, resolved and balanced. Really detailed. " (10/2016) 94 points Vinous: "Roederer's 2009 Brut Nature is compelling. Powerful, ample and creamy, the 2009 has more than enough natural richness ...Read More »

2009 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Champagne

94 points Wine Spectator: "A sleek, creamy Champagne, with an expressive range of toast, apricot, candied Meyer lemon zest, cassis and pastry cream set in a tightly knit and racy frame. This offers personality now, but the focus and concentration recommends it to the cellar as well. Disgorged February 2017. Drink now through 2030. (AN) " (07/2018) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Taking advantage of the natural richness of this vintage, this wine is ripe and soft, hinting at yeastiness as well as retaining plenty of attractive acidity. This balanced wine is ...Read More »

2009 Egrot (formerly Elisabeth Goutorbe) Brut Grand Cru Champagne

This Champagne used to be called Elisabeth Goutorbe. Elisabeth changed the name over to her married name Egrot when she and her husband moved out of her parents facility in Ay, and into their own. This 100% Ay grand cru Champagne is composed of 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay, all from the family estate. Although the Champagne has no dosage whatsoever, it is still full and rich. It has a great nose of baguette toast, cream and some of that famous Ay chalk. The finish is long, clean and very dry, but not too strict. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

2009 Louis Roederer Brut Champagne (1.5L)

94 points James Suckling: " A set of more north-facing vineyards here deliver a more restrained, mineral and compact pinot noir. Nevertheless, the nose has terrific ripe-fruit expression (a warmer vintage), and the oak fermentation (30%) works well to wrap the exuberant fruit into the mix of more mineral characters. The palate has plenty of lemon and grapefruit citrus, lemon zest and honey. This has done no malolactic and really delivers on the finish. Wonderfully clean, balanced and layered. Drinking well now but age through to 2025 with confidence for ...Read More »

2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Fascination" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (1.5L)

Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import, or even carry from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants--his production is just one thousand cases a year total. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and although small, it is diverse. He farms 22 plots in eight different villages. Among these are the oldest vines that I hav ...Read More »

2009 Pierre Mineral Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne Back In Stock!
2009 Pierre Mineral Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

All Mesnil grand cru bargain!!!! This wine comes from all estate-grown fruit in the grand cru of Mesnil. It is a very clean wine with pure flavors and a complex, subtle nose. The texture is silky and delicate, but the finish is quite powerful. This is a very stylish wine, and a very good deal thanks to a direct buy from the producer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Dilection" Brut Rosé Champagne Top Pick!
2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Dilection" Brut Rosé Champagne

Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth-generation winemaker. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750, and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the incredible 2009 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced was planted in 1902. It is rich, but classically dry with dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the finish, which lingers.

2009 Dom Pérignon Champagne Magnum 1.5L

96 points Wine Spectator: "There's a subtle power to this graceful Champagne, which boasts a firm, crystalline frame of acidity married to the fine, satinlike mousse and notes of white raspberry, brioche and Earl Grey tea. Seamless through to the long finish of smoke and spice accents, this opens beautifully in the glass. Drink now through 2029. (AN)" (11/2017) 94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Dom Pérignon is open, seductive and radiant, as it has always been. Soft curves, mid-weight structure and tons of plain allure make the 2009 impossible to resist in i ...Read More »

2009 Pol Roger Brut Rosé Champagne

92 points James Suckling: "I like the 2009 vintage for rosé. Here, it delivers a playfully fruit-fueled core of bold cherries and watermelon with some chalky moments on the palate. This has a very inviting attitude. Drink now." (09/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blending 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir red wine from the Montagne de Reims, Pol Roger's 2009 Vintage Brut Rosé displays an intense salmon/onion color and a rich, vinous bouquet of red berries and cherries that come along as ripe and dried fruit flavors. ...Read More »

2009 Pol Roger Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "With fruit from the Côte des Blancs, this is a classic, textured, mineral-driven Chardonnay Champagne. Its bottle age gives a toasty edge to the crisp, lively grapefruit and bitter orange flavors. Well balanced, this impressive wine is still likely to improve with aging. Drink now, but, better, wait until 2020. (RV)" (08/2018) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Let it breathe a few minutes in the glass and Pol Roger's 2009 Brut Blanc de Blancs becomes truly exciting! 2009 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Rosé Champagne

94 points Wine Spectator: "A firm, tightly meshed rosé Champagne, with a powerful frame of smoky mineral and acidity swathed in a fine range of wild strawberry, whole-grain toast, kumquat and exotic spice notes that linger on the racy finish. Disgorged February 2017. Drink now through 2030. (AN)" (06/2018) 93 points Vinous: "Interestingly, the 2009 Extra Brut Grand Vintage Rosé is quite a bit tighter and pointed than the Blanc. Here, it is the wine’s energy and tension that stand out most. It will be interesting to see if the 2009 gains a bit more volu ...Read More »
