Champaigne

Champagne

Here you'll find all the familiar and famous producers at very competitive prices, but even more exciting is the smaller grower-producers that we offer. K&L imports many of these grower-producer Champagnes directly, saving you a bunch of money that would otherwise end up in the pocket of an importer or distributor. The folks are able to control the entire process of making their Champagnes, since they do the vineyard work as well as the winemaking. In addition to the Champagne selection shown below, we operate a Champagne Club that you don't want to miss.

1999 Billecart-Salmon "Le Clos Saint-Hilaire" Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne

98 points James Suckling: "An extraordinary one-hectare parcel of Pinot Noir planted in 1964. Deep golden hue. An extremely rich and majestic nose with savory notes of cocoa, smoked mushroom, forest floor earthiness, grilled hazelnuts, orange marmalade, spiced cherries, plums and spiced bread. Wildly complex! The palate has a languid, toasty core of flavor with a deep warming wash of spices, toasted almonds and grilled hazelnuts. Freshens to dried cherry and plum pastry leading into a smooth and vinous finish. Striking depth and grace. Drinks like an old ...Read More »

1999 Moët & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Moët & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (93ST, 93VN, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-tinted gold. Tightly wound lime and pink grapefruit aromas open slowly to reveal a gently smoky mineral and floral character, with a light kiss of green cardamom adding interest. Very fresh on the palate, with youthful citrus and green apple flavors giving way to slightly riper blood orange and pear. Finishes firm and dry, with serious grip. This only hints at its potential, and I'd advise anyone drinking it for what's in the bottle rather than on the label to stash it away for at least another five years, minimum. (JR)" (11/2007)
