2017 Alain Corcia Bourgogne Rouge
Top Pick!
Alain Corcia founded his négociant company back in 1983. Originally focused on bottling Burgundy, they expanded their grower relationships to include wines from the Rhône, Bordeaux and even Champagne. Our relationship with Alain goes back over three decades, and he and his wife Patricia have supplied us with some of our greatest values from their respective regions. As a négociant, Mr. Corcia is very hands-on with the wines, making each one in its home region and choosing not to blend across appellations, all the better to reflect each wine's true terroi...

2017 Domaine Bart Marsannay Rouge "Les Echezots"
Top Pick!
Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Firm reduction masks the underlying fruit today. Otherwise there is good punch and lovely detail to the more mineral-inflected flavors that aren't especially complex but they are quite refreshing and the finish is well-balanced. We'll see if it can add more depth but again, this is very pretty and well crafted." (01/2019)

2017 Domaine Bart "Les Finottes" Marsannay Rouge
Top Pick!
Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Soft wood sets off earthy and humus-suffused aromas of forest floor and dark berry fruit. There is good freshness and vitality to the delicious flavors that possess reasonable depth and persistence. This is light but pretty and should drink well young." (01/2019) K&L Notes: Thanks to sandy soils, this wine is particularly aromatic, and the fruit profile is soft and inviting. Pierre Bart, the current generation owner and winemaker at Domaine Bart, treats this wine to no new oak, using only concrete and older oak barrels to sh...

2017 Chateau de la Maltroye Bourgogne Blanc
Top Pick!
Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A smoky nose reveals notes of straw, ripe pear and plenty of petrol influence. There is both good vibrancy and solid volume to the delicious and focused flavors that conclude in a clean, dry and crisp finish that is quite refreshing. This nicely complex offer should drink well early and with a few years of bottle age on it. *Outstanding, Top Value*" (06/2019)

Jancis Robinson: "Easy-drinking, medium body. Apple fruit, a touch of salinity adds some interest on the finish. Smooth texture with a snappy finish. (RH)" (01/2019) K&L Notes: "Garagistes," the Langoureaus mostly concern themselves with making white Burgundy from St. Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet in their cellar.

Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. In classic Burgundian fashion, the Dutron family has been growing vines since 1835, and now owns some of the oldest and best parcels in the village of Fuissé in the Pouilly-Fuissé district. In the glass, the wines live up to the hype.

2017 Jacques Bavard Bourgogne Blanc
Top Pick!
Allen Meadows writes: "Jacques Bavard is a former Paris restaurateur and a fifth generation Puligny winemaker. He lives in the old stone house of his grandfather on the Grand Rue. However, he is not farming his family vines but has become a micro-négoce working closely with several growers. Bavard prefers early picking since he believes Burgundy needs nervous energy to better display its terroir. He works with a mix of conventionally-sized barrels (and with 350 liter barrels) with the goal of obtaining more volume on the mid-palate but with less wood inf...

Top Pick!
A winemaking cooperative in the Mâconnais comprising members who seek out the most "secret" plots of earth to make their distinctive wines. 100% Chardonnay from the appellation of Milly-Lamartine and described by the winery as an "intense and generous wine."

2017 Vignerons des Terres Secretes Macon Verze "Croix Jarrier"
Top Pick!
90 points Decanter: "Open, generous creamy stone fruit aromas lead to concentrated citrus freshness and a tangy, saline attack. Complex, rounded and textural." (06/2019) K&L Notes: A winemaking cooperative in the Mâconnais comprising members who seek out the most "secret" plots of earth to make their distinctive wines. The Mâcon-Verzé is 100% Chardonnay.

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from Puligny vines on the Meursault border – vinified in stainless steel). Whiffs of pear, apple, citrus and petrol can be found on the fresh and cool nose. The forward, forward and delicious flavors are also on the lighter side while offering an equally refreshing finish that exhibits both saline and bitter lemon characters." (06/2019) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of ripe lemons, apples and flowers preface the 2017 Bourgogne Chardonnay, a medium-bodied, satiny wine with a succulent, elegantly textural profile in ...

2018 Nuiton-Beaunoy Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge
Top Pick!
Formed in 1957 by a small group of growers in the village of Orches in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune region, Nuiton-Beaunoy has grown to now represent more than 80 growers and operates a co-op winery Cave des Hautes-Côtes. Winery notes: "Purple colour with hints of ruby. With a hint of spice, the nose reveals the scent of raspberry and blackcurrant, with a definite hint of minerality. The perfect expression of its origins, the wine is pure and fresh on the palate."

Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. His wines are known as great values out of Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation, and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulet's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and pureness of fruit.

Neal Martin writes: "Located in the heart of the village of Puligny is Domaine Pernot-Belicard, a less well-known producer perhaps, though their premises are certainly impressive. The internet seems undecided on whether it is “Belicart” or “Belicard”, though it should be the latter and without hyphen. I met with Philippe Pernot, the son of Paul Pernot, who established the domaine with his wife in 2009. His approach in the vineyard is one of lutte raisonee..."

Château de la Charrière is one of our most popular direct import producers and a label that easily represents the best bang for your buck we carry in Burgundy. Formerly run by Yves Girardin, the business is now run by his young son Benoit, who definitely has modernized the winemaking a bit since his first vintage in 2011. Whereas the wines were a bit funky and rustic previously, the past few vintages are much cleaner.

2017 Domaine Anne Parent Bourgogne Rouge
Top Pick!
Vinous: "The 2017 Bourgogne Pinot Noir had been racked just before harvest. It is 100% de-stemmed with no new oak. The pretty bouquet features brambly red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin and good backbone. (NM)" (01/2019)

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood stops short of fighting with the essence of dark pinot fruit and evident sauvage nuances. The rich but punchy medium-bodied flavors flash noticeable minerality on the sleek, precise and delicious finish that is shaped by firm but not hard or rustic tannins though even so, some patience will be necessary." (01/2019)

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exuberantly fresh and expressive nose offers up notes of violet, spiced plum, cassis and a whiff of the sauvage. There is better richness and a bit better density as well if less minerality to the more broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in a palate coating, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This too will need at least some patience as the supporting tannins are firm but again, not hard." (01/2019)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic nose willingly offers up a hint of honeysuckle on the well-layered nose that combines white orchard fruit with those of spice and floral nuances. There is fine volume to the nicely concentrated flavors that coat the palate with sap on the refined, complex and citrusy finale. This is lovely and is a BBM of finesse." (06/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Charming and expressive, the 2017 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru bursts with aromas of ripe apples, white flow...

Château de la Maltroye is a Burgundian wine estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, boasting a superb 18th century château sitting on top of cellars dating back to the 1400s. Quality has increased greatly since the early 1990s when Jean-Pierre Cornut took over the estate. Allen Meadows of Bourghound says: "Jean-Pierre Cournut had evident relief in his voice when he told me that the 2017 'growing season was so much easier than the seriously difficult 2016 season that had us chasing our tails for most of it. … The fruit was clean and ripe and required almost no ch...

Allen meadows writes: "This 22 ha estate is directed by Pierre Bart and his uncle Martin along with Pierre's mother and aunt. Martin is a cousin of Bruno Clair because Martin's mother Monique was the sister of Bruno and thus part of the Clair-Daü family. This explains why there are holdings in Bonnes Mares, Chambolle and Clos de Bèze as well as in Santenay (the family is related, though distantly, to Denis Clair of Santenay). With respect to the 2017 vintage, Pierre Bart explained that 'we enjoyed a relatively calm growing season where we really didn't h...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A notably ripe and quite deeply pitched nose combines notes of dark currant, earth, underbrush and discreet humus nuances. There is fine richness and plenty of punch to the attractively voluminous and admirably concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by surprisingly sleek tannins on the firm, highly complex, lengthy and well-balanced finish where the only minor blemish is a trace of warmth. This firm and dusty effort will need all of a decade to shed its core of slightly raspy tannins and become more user ...

2017 Domaine Paul Pernot Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru "La Piece Sous le Bois"
Back In Stock!
88-91 points Vinous: "Bright lemon-yellow color. More exotic yellow fruits on the nose, along with an element of smoky oak (about 20% new in 2017). In a distinctly fatter style than the village Puligny, offering good concentration and a suggestion of honeyed ripeness to its ripe yellow fruit flavors. A bit more phenolic and less refined on the finish, but shows good length and a firm stony underpinning. (ST)" (09/2018) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The latest rendition of a bottling Pernot has produced sine 1973, the 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1...

88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A moderately toasty and more deeply pitched nose is comprised by essence of plum, dark cherry and freshly turned earth. There is much better volume and richness to the caressing and velvet-textured flavors that display touches of austerity and rusticity on the more structured finale." (01/2019)

90-93 points Vinous: "Bright light yellow. Sexy oak-spicy lift to the subtle aromas of nectarine and white peach, plus a captivating floral topnote. A step up in concentration of material over the foregoing wines but still a medium-bodied wine with very good precision. This will need time to absorb its oak element. Finishes dusty and lightly saline, with nicely integrated acidity and good length. Elsa Matrot noted that the Garenne fruit brings the acidity to this blend. (ST)" (09/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Puligny-Montrach...

88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pretty and ultra-fresh nose flashes notes of black cherry, violet and a pretty array of spice elements. Not surprisingly the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is notably more refined with both good energy and detail that continues onto the youthfully austere and solidly lingering finish that is firm and well-balanced. A good quality Vosne villages." (01/2018) 88-91 points Vinous: "Good medium red. Black raspberry complicated by smoky minerality on the ripe, expressive nose. Pliant and deep, with its dark ...

Paul Pernot has run the domaine since 1955 and now his three sons are assisting him. They own 19 hectares of fantastic vineyards in the Cote de Beaune, but sell a vast majority of it to negociants, including Drouhin. The 20% or so that they bottle themselves are pure, elegant, and delicious representations of their best parcels. While most wines see some new oak and they only use barrels for three years, he bottles early in order to preserve freshness and avoid any noticeable oakiness.

90 points Vinous: "Pale yellow. A bit more exotic on the nose than the Tillets, offering scents of pineapple, citrus peel and dusty stone. Similarly ripe in the mouth, but with its broad lemon and lime flavors given shape by surprising acidity and pungent notes of herbs and stone. Lovely old-vines density and intensity here. The limey finish is dry, fresh and long. Javillier is about to replant a portion of these very old vines.(ST)" (09/2017) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Notes of hazelnut add breadth to the notably ripe white orchard fruit aromas. The ...

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A subdued and mildly reduced nose renders it hard to evaluate today. Otherwise the sleek and sophisticated medium weight flavors also possess a highly seductive mouth feel along with markedly more minerality on the saline, intense and beautifully persistent finish. This is impeccably well-balanced and while the pliant mid-palate will make this approachable young, it should easily be capable of repaying mid-term keeping. In sum, this is an excellent Meursault villages." (06/2017) 90 points Vinous: "Bright, pale yell...

From Bergman's Bourgogne: "Pierre Bart is the sixth generation at Domaine Bart. Since 2009 he is running the domaine and its 22 hectares of vines together with his mother and his uncle. There is a strong focus on Marsannay, coupled with a few goodies from Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Santenay."

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of wood aging and ripe yellow fruits are a fine pairing for this wine that comes from the slopes above Meursault. With its textured character, apricot and peach flavors and tight acidity, this is a serious and complex wine that demands aging. (RV)" (12/2013) 90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "With now 5 years of age this remains a really lovely effort with its airy, cool and now almost fully mature aromas of Granny Smith apples, white flowers and pear along with subtle hints of mineral reduction. There is a really ...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly riper blend features notes of various white orchard fruit, floral and more discreet citrus nuances. Despite the evident concentration and volume the medium-bodied flavors retain a fine sense of cut and punch with a driving and saline-inflected finish that displays focused power and a hint of bitter lemon." (06/2018) 91 points John Gilman: "The 2016 les Frionnes is absolutely classic in profile and depth this year and is a lovely wine in the making. The wine delivers an aromatic constellation of lemon,...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite firmly reduced with ample wood influence but unlike the Veroilles, the reduction does not extend to the palate. There is a bit more mid-palate density to the vibrant flavors that terminate in a youthfully austere but better balanced finish. This will need at least some bottle aging as it's presently quite firm." (01/2019)

95 points Vinous: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is blessed with a very complex and engaging bouquet: blackberry, raspberry, hints of black tea and kelp. It is mercurial in the glass, constantly evolving. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, yet there is certainly ample backbone to this Vosne-Romanée. There is a wonderful crescendo from start to finish that fans out. Great depth and impressive in terms of complexity, this is an intellectual and captivating wine that will give 25-40 years of drinking pleasure. (NM)" (10/2019) 92...

93 points Decanter: "Sabine Mollard's wines are finally receiving the recognition they deserve. This is typically elegant, floral and well balanced, combining subtle honey and baking spice notes with thrilling minerality and tension. The limestone is really apparent on the finish. Drinking Window 2020-2025. (TA)" (10/2018) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet touch of mineral reduction adds interest to the gently matchstick citrus-inflected aromas of acacia blossom and spiced essence of pear. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the stony...

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Generous wood stops short of completely dominating the fresh array of spiced red berry fruit aromas that are notably floral in character. The supple and delicious if lighter weight flavors flash a touch of minerality on the lingering if mildly dry finish. My predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that the dryness is related to the evident gas rather than a lack of phenolic maturity. Even so, this is on the lighter side for a grand cru." (01/2019)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is just enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background so be sure to decant this if you're tempted to pop a cork upon release. There is both excellent richness and delineation to the caressing medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the well-balanced and perfumed finale. I very much like the subtlety and interplay of the fruit, acid and dry extract that imparts a beguiling texture to the finish." (06/2016) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saint Aubin ...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also quite floral with aromas of smoky white orchard fruit, citrus zest and a light touch of minerality. Once again there is fine volume to the rich and relatively full-bodied flavors yet the finish remains cool, clean and quite dry in the context of the vintage. This is really lovely juice and worth considering. *Outstanding, Top Value*" (06/2017) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 St Aubin 1er Cru les Combes was matured in 20% new oak, but unlike others it does not see any aging in foud...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is always a major wine from this producer. In this exuberant vintage, the wine is bursting with tannins and a powerful black-cherry element, which give it considerable aging potential. The wine should not be drunk before 2024." (10/2019) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a noticeable if subtle note of barnyard on the otherwise attractive plum, dark cherry and humus scents. Once again there is good richness to the vibrant and delicious if less concentrated flavors that deliver good length. As this is presently constit...

2017 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru
Top Pick!
93-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An openly exotic nose offers glimpses of black cherry liqueur, ginger, Asian-style tea, sandalwood and orange peel. The tighter and much more mineral-driven big-bodied flavors also possess evident muscle on the powerful and dense yet beautifully refined finish that goes on and on. This is also a bit less structured though with that said, this is going to need at least 15 years to reach its apogee. In a word, terrific. *Don't miss!*" (01/2019) 96 points Decanter: "The older vines in de Vogüé's extensive 7.2ha in ...

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2017 Beaune les Epenottes 1er Cru comes from a parcel of 47- and 85-year-old vines, made with 5% whole clusters and matured in 40% new French oak. It has a very pure nose of raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit, the whole cluster element imparting a subtle forest floor/bay leaf aroma. The medium-bodied palate offers fine tannin, good grip on the back palate, more black than red fruit and a slight tobacco note toward the structured finish. Promising, but it will need three or four years in bottle. (NM)" (01/2019) 87-90 points...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "In the heart of the massive run of premier crus on the slopes above the city of Beaune, this vineyard has produced a wine with powerful tannins and great swathes of black fruits. It needs to age and will not be ready until 2023. " (10/2019) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Once again the barnyard character is present but subtle on the otherwise notably fresh nose of red and black pinot fruit that reflects discreet notes of earth and spice. I like the intensity of the tautly muscular flavors that possess a good minerality before c...
