2009 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux-St-Jacques"
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St. Jacques is a huge wine, but it is shutting down in bottle. The 2009 boasts incredible purity and depth in is fruit. Readers will need to be patient with the 2009. The extraordinary, deep finish is but one of the signs that points to the immense pedigree of Lavaux St. Jacques. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. (AG)" (04/2012) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Laced with plum, blackberry, toast and spice aromas and flavors, this is a polished and opulent red. It has a vibrant structu...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A classic Meursault nose of hazelnut, white peach and soft pear aromas gives way to fresh, vibrant and energetic middle weight flavors that culminate in a lingering if mildly bitter finish. My note assumes that the bitterness will quickly dissipate as I suspect that it's sulfur-related." (01/2011) Wine Spectator: "Loosely knit, featuring baked apple and grapefruit flavors with a touch of spice. This is rich, just lacks focus, ending with echoes of apple and spice. Drink now through 2014. (BS)" (02/2012)
Price: $44.99

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A spicy, earthy and quite ripe nose features a variety of wild dark berry fruits that seem very much in keeping with the strikingly rich and full-bodied flavors that are supple yet serious with excellent volume, all wrapped in a powerful and balanced finish. This is terrific and should age well." (01/2011) 91-93 points Vinous: "(aging in 90% new oak) Good dark red. Sexy aromas of redcurrant, red cherry, dried flowers and tobacco. Still tight but essentially smooth and gentle, with sound acidity framing the wine'...

2009 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (1.5 L)
Top Pick!
97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is garlanded with an absolutely stunning bouquet, so pure and perfumed with blueberry, cassis, orange essence, fresh apricots and umeboshi. Brilliant definition. The palate is medium-bodied with intense dark cherry fruit vying for attention against the vibrant mineralite that lends so much precision on the finish. The freshness belies the power. Extraordinary length and persistency, this is a breathtaking Pinot Noir. (NM)" (03/2011) 94-97 points Vinous: "The 2009 Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes i...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " The altitude of this vineyard is clearly in evidence as the nose is cooler than is typical in 2009 with its airy and ultra-elegant yet still notably ripe nose of stone, spice and red pinot liqueur aromas that merge seamlessly into the equally mineral-driven, detailed and vibrant flavors that are at once supple but firm and seriously persistent. This is a classy wine of finesse and lace that is sufficiently forward that it could be enjoyed if desired though it will of course age well too." (01/2012) 91 points Vinou...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2015 through 2035. (BS)" (06/2012) 94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is ripe, radiant and totally representative of the vintage. Silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this generous, open Clos des Lambrays. The 2009 possesses striking depth and tons of richness allied to a muscular pers...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood influence does not unduly hamper the attractiveness of the otherwise fresh and bright earthy and high-toned red pinot fruit suffused nose. The rich and solidly structured medium-bodied flavors possess copious amounts of mid-palate sap, which is a good thing because the impressively persistent finish is firm to the point of being chewy. This is potentially the best example of the Chevillon Roncières that I have ever seen from cask though note that patience will be required. *Outstanding* " (01/2011) ...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is notably different as the fruit is notably riper though it also is very fresh and cool with sauvage notes that carry over to the intense flavors that contrast a silk-like texture with bold flavor authority on the mineral-driven and powerful finish. This is terrific." (01/2011) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers presents an attractive core of dark fruit, considerable aromatic complexity and plenty of structure to back things up. Fresh, vibrant notes are wo...

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Georges Chicotot Nuits-St-Georges. 7th Generation wine-grower in Nuits-St-Georges, Georges Chicotot and his wife Pascale run their small domaine with care and concentrated attention. Recently, Pascale has taken over the decision on bottling, and the wines are bottled a bit sooner, with attractive and spicy Nuits fruit character. This is all estate grown and hand harvested on their vineyards in Nuits-St-Georges. According to Robert Parker: "His wines are powerful, densely-colored, full-bodied examples of Nuits St.-Georges that might even be better if he bottled them sooner. Nevertheless, readers in search of intense, muscular, powerful, blockbuster red Burgundies should note that Chicotot delivers the goods." (08/95)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru "Quintessence de Corton-Charlemagne" (95VN, (92-94BH), 93RP). Vinous: "Bright pale yellow. Sexy smoky oak and strong minerally silex on the nose, lifted by a violet high note. A densely packed wine with terrific force, offering outstanding cut to its citrus, apple, floral and mineral flavors. At once laid-back and powerful, and extremely unevolved. This really titillates the taste buds on the long, rising, lemon-and-stone finish. Wow! Girardin purchased a bit more Corton-Charlemagne in Aloxe-Corton this year but it's unlikely to find its way into this special cuvee: he wants the Quintessence bottling, which is always from the same 80-year-old vines in the heart of the hillside on the Pernand side, to remain rare. (ST) 95+" (09/2011)

Bid on this magnum of 2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (1.5L) (95VN, 95WS, 94BH, 93ST). Vinous: "There is just one barrel of the 2009 Bâtard-Montrachet, which is a shame, as the wine is marvelous. This is a breathtaking, rich Bâtard endowed with layers of expressive fruit. Minerals and all sorts of crushed rocks frame the intensely pointed, chiseled finish. The Bâtard remains fresh, vibrant and weightless in a kaleidoscopic, dazzling style that only great white Burgundy is capable of delivering. (AG)" (08/2011)
