Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is more deeply pitched still with a classic Nuits nose of earth, game and underbrush adding nuance to the dark berry fruit aromas that complement the rich, round and equally earthy flavors that possess good acid/fruit/tannin balance and solid length fashioned in a forward and relatively accessible package." (04/2007)
Price: $59.99

Allen Meadows writes: "A slightly more complex nose features aromas of red and black fruit plus the same violet and floral notes that continue onto the spice, anise and pepper-infused middle weight flavors that are rich, full, fresh and textured with an attractive mouth feel and a supple yet linear finish. The tannins are firm but not aggressive and this is very Gevrey in character and I particularly like the high level of phenolic ripeness but with no surmaturité. An excellent villages that is worth a look." (Burghound 01/08)
Price: $79.99

93-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also exceptionally classy and refined with spicy and fresh black and blue berry fruit aromas that complement to perfection the rich, powerful and massive flavors that manage to retain a wonderful sense of detail on the almost sternly structured finish yet the sap buffers any austerity. This is a big Musigny but for all the size and weight, the balance is impeccable. Potentially the best wine in the range if only barely. *Don't Miss!*" (04/2007) 94-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Prieur 2005...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A distinctly earthy and reserved but not inelegant red pinot fruit nose infused with hints of wet stone, game and underbrush introduces rich, full and relatively fine yet powerful flavors that culminate in a long and delicious finish where the minerality resurfaces. Terrific quality and recommended." (01/2008) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Reduced nose dominated by smoked meat. Then deep, ripe and aromatic in the mouth, with a blackberry flavor complicated by a gamey nuanc...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A notably ripe extract of black cherry and cassis nose complements to perfection the rich, sappy and exceptionally fresh and vibrant medium plus weight flavors that are minerally, intense and pure. This is an understated effort built around a base of stone and is moderately austere on the wonderfully long finish underpinned by an almost palpable sense of tension. Terrific potential here. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*" (01/2007) 93-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees returns...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " This is also notably ripe but airy with high-pitched exotic fruit aromas that work with the rich, sappy and textured flavors blessed with ample dry extract and a silky, palate staining and classy finish that stops just short of being bone dry. Lovely and beautifully balanced. *Outstanding*" (07/2007) Jancis Robinson: " Rather hazy, indistinct nose. Broad and slightly soft compared with other wines but therefore much easier to like. Quite powerful, even rich!" (08/2007) K&L Notes: Note: the reviews above are fo...

93-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Toasty oak notes, reduction and spicy black fruit lead to lacy, indeed almost delicate middle weight flavors that are focused, supple, intense and ultra pure and transparent on the silky and stunningly long finish. This is finesse personified with the classic 'power without weight' character that burgheads so prize. A lovely and exceptionally classy wine." (01/2007) 95 points Vinous: "Medium red-ruby. Sexy, distinctly wild aromas of raspberry, minerals, coffee and smoke. Wonderfully ripe and dense but classicall...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is virtually no reduction here and the soaring nose offers notes of violets, earth, red and black Pinot fruit and a distinct animale component that introduces big, robust and intense flavors that are textured, indeed even chewy but the tannic spine is well integrated on the hugely long finish. There is ample wood in evidence but there is so much concentration that the wine should integrate it successfully with time in bottle." (01/2007) 90-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full re...

Bid on this 375 ml 3-bottle lot of 2005 Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Estournelles St-Jacques" (375ml) ((90-92BH), 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is airy and quite cool with a pretty mix of red, blue and violet-infused aromas nuanced with notes of stone and underbrush that complement the sweet, refined and pure middle weight flavors that possess really lovely mid-palate fat that completely buffers the firm, persistent and elegant finish. I like the subtle spiciness and the length here is seriously impressive. Terrific and recommended. *Outstanding*" (01/2007)
Starting Bid: $124.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Faiveley Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Corton Faiveley" ((94-96BH), 95WE, 94WS, 93ST, 91W&S). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Allow me to cut through everything else and bluntly state that the '05 Clos des Corton Faiveley is quite simply the best young example of this wine that I have ever had the privilege of evaluating. A richly and densely fruited nose that is at once earthy and quite animale along with breathtaking complexity complements to perfection the big, rich and sleekly muscled flavors that are very firmly structured but again, not at all aggressive and the sheer depth of material on the palate-drenching finish is nothing short of phenomenal. To be sure, this is not and will not be a wine for even the moderately impatient and I'm not completely sure that 15 years will be sufficient to really see it at its best to buy it only with the (resolute) intention to allow it a long and comfortable cellar snooze. Remarkable." (01/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" (94WE, 93JG, 92BH, 92RP, 90WS). Wine Enthusiast: "The oldest property owned by the Drouhin family has produced a wine that is initially withdrawn, showing its herbal, earthy character, before releasing an explosion of sweet berries, spice and irresistible freshness and acidity. The aftertaste is firm, and the fruit is very much in place. *Best of 2008, Cellar Selection* (RV)" (08/2008)
Starting Bid: $175.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny ((90-91RP), (87-90BH), (87-90VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Chambolle-Musigny smells of ripe red raspberry with high-toned touches of black tea, lemon zest, iris, and horseradish. Bright, bracing and treble on the palate, it nevertheless doesn’t lack for primary sweetness of fruit and finishes long and bright, with subtly meaty, chalky undertones. This over-achieving village wine nicely combines virtues of high- and low-elevation sites. (DS)" (04/2007)

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also impressively ripe yet finer and more elegant and possesses terrific freshness and aromatic vitality on the mostly red fruit nose that is nuanced by hints of game and underbrush that can also be found on the mouth coating, sweet and concentrated flavors oozing with dry extract that renders the tannins almost invisible at present though with age in bottle, I'm convinced that they will surface in time. A classic Charmes that is at once generous but powerful and this will age effortlessly. One of the finest ...
