Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru "Les Rugiens" (95BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Just as was the case with this wine in 750 ml format (see herein), there is absolutely no bricking to the deep ruby color. This is still almost completely primary with only a touch of secondary to the very ripe yet fresh aromas of dark berry fruit, earth, spice and violet scents. There is outstanding concentration to the intense, precise and notably mineral-suffused medium weight plus flavors that pack ample power and punch on the very firm and impressively lingering finish. This is still the better part of 10 years away from its peak and will certainly last much longer. In sum, ample patience required, even at more than 25+ years of age. In a word, brilliant." (11/2017)

Bid on this half-bottle of 1990 Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Boudots" (375ml). Domaine Jean Grivot is among the great names in Burgundian wine. Étienne Grivot and his wife Marielle (Patrick Bize's sister) took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The Grivot family believes in generational change and in 2017, Étienne and Marielle’s daughter, Mathilde, took over for her parents. Mathilde brings a fresh approach while maintaining the longtime traditions of the Grivot family. The recently renovated winery and cellar is in Vosne-Romanée where most of the Grivot vineyards are located. The domaine has been assembled over several generations to its current size of 15.5 hectares and includes holdings in three grand crus: Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, and Richebourg. Mathilde believes in getting quality first thanks to meticulous vineyard work throughout the year. The result of this hard work is healthy, ripe (both phenolic and sugar levels) and depth of concentration a

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru "Les Pèzerolles" (91RP, 90BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Pommard-Pezerolles possesses the most weight, structure, and massiveness of Montille's 1990 offerings. Additionally, more sweet fruit emerges both in the bouquet and on the palate. Nevertheless, the finish was so acidic and tannic that my gums ached. I have done something with Montille's 1990s that I rarely do - give them the benefit of the doubt. This domaine's style of winemaking produces such tannic, high acid, backward wines that a minimum of 10 years cellaring is required. Based on the 1978s and 1980s that I own, you may have to wait 15 or more years for Montille's 1990s to shed their cloak of tannin and acidic shrillness. That being said, all of these wines are loaded. In terms of extraction and concentration, they possess the requisite depth to balance out their high acidity and hard tannins - I think.
