2019 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Mouchère" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "The Clos de la Mouchère is a domaine monopole of nearly 4ha. The vines date to before the Second World War and have not been replanted since. It is located midslope and consistently provides a lovely wine of exquisite balance and elegance. Here the accent is on ripe apple, spice and buttery aromas. The texture is broad and rich, but superbly elegant and well balanced. The finesse of the results in such a warm year are reassuring. (CC)" (01/2021) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de l...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the reticent nose is dominated by notes of matchstick, reduction and smoke. There is a bit more volume to the sophisticated flavors that possess excellent mid-palate sap, all wrapped in a mineral-driven and highly persistent and beautifully complex finish. *Sweet Spot Outstanding*" (06/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes was also showing well, mingling apples, peach and fresh pastry with notes of hazelnuts and white flowers. On the palate, it's m...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Sweet Spot Outstanding!!* A restrained nose reluctantly exposes its aromas of mineral reduction, acacia, orange and tangerine peel plus a whiff of white peach. The racy, intense and beautifully textured flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the sneaky long and slightly more complex finale. This stylish effort is a wine of finesse and class." (06/2020) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Carillon began his harvest with the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes, an expressive wine that offers...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a whiff of the exotic in the form of pineapple wisps that combine with notes of acacia blossom and various white-fleshed fruit aromas. The lush and opulent yet relatively refined medium-bodied flavors possess slightly better mid-palate density, all wrapped in a youthfully austere but not quite as dry finale. This isn't classically styled but there's clearly more here." (06/2020) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières was showing well, wafting from...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A spicy and mildly exotic nose exhibits notes of orange pekoe tea, fresh citrus and acacia blossom. Here too there is a lovely sense of energy to the detailed and slightly finer middle weight flavors that possess an attractive underlying tension and minerality on the punchy and very dry mouth coating finish where a hint of bitter lemon gradually emerges. *Burghound Sweetspot Outstanding!!* " (06/2020) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières is showing well,...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Notes of petrol, white flower and citrus possess background hints of honeysuckle and whiffs of the exotic. There is very good richness to the vibrant and stony middle weight flavors that offer fine persistence and a simply gorgeous mouthfeel before terminating in an impressively persistent finish that flashes very fine depth. This is an interesting wine in that there is solid power to it, yet the texture is almost delicate. Lovely stuff. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!!*" (06/2020) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too notes of mineral reduction can be found on the even more elegant and slightly cooler essence of apple, pear and citrus zest. The racy tension-filled flavors are almost painfully intense yet manage to preserve a gorgeous mouthfeel, all wrapped in an impressively persistent, firm and delicious finale. This doesn't possess the sheer class of the Combettes and it needs more depth but the potential is here. *Sweet Spot Outstanding*" (06/2020) 90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Notes of citrus oil, ...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Exotic aromas of honeysuckle, passion fruit, white peach and pineapple are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The succulent, indeed even opulent, medium-bodied flavors also brim with dry extract before culminating in a sneaky long and mouth coating finish. This very stylish effort also needs to develop more depth, but the underlying material appears to be up to the challenge." (06/2020) K&L Notes: Paul Pernot has run the domaine since 1955 and now two of his sons are assisting him. They own 19 hectares of fanta...

91-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow. Musky peach, flowers and minerals on the nose. Glyceral-rich, spicy and generous, with an exotic pineapple note dominating. Boasts an almost oily concentration due to a high percentage of millerande grapes but comes across as almost too easy today. This boasts impressive potential--if it can maintain its verve. " (09/2013) 89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is enough reduction present to flatten the fruit for the time being. By contrast there is good freshness...

2018 Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet Puligny-Montrachet "Les Enseignères"
Top Pick!
Ramonet makes this village-level bottling of Les Enseignères, which sits just below the Grand Cru of Bâtard-Montrachet. This unclassified lieu-dit has deeper soils and a little less sun exposure than the classified plots higher on the slope. This translates to higher water retention and less vine stress which can be beneficial to white grapes in a year with some tough heat waves. Is that to say that this bottle is going to be better than Ramonet's 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet? Certainly not... but it certainly makes this bottling stand out on its own and narro...

91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru offers lilting aromas of apple blossom, granite and citrus peel on the nose, nicely focused and very pure in style. The palate is fresh and concentrated with zippy acidity, very very cohesive and concentrated though without the richness and decadence of say, the Hameau de Blagny. There is more Puligny DNA here and good potential for aging. (NM)" (12/2020) K&L Notes: 90-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Cheerful bright mid yellow. Ripe chardonnay nose, not too much of the bacon fa...

2018 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clavoillons"
New!
90-92 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillons 1er Cru comes from 0.50 hectares of 60-year-old vines and sees around 35% new oak. It has a little more detail and stoniness on the nose compared directly with the Champ Gains. The palate is very well balanced, with orange pith, lime, a pinch of white pepper and flinty notes toward the sustained finish. It might need a little more depth considering the climat in question, although it does reveal a very pleasant fiery quality on the aftertaste. (NM)" (01/2020) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine A...

Allen Meadows writes: "There has been an important change in the operations of this storied domaine as Noël Ramonet has withdrawn, ostensibly because of succession planning. The vineyards remain with the domaine however and I was told that Noël is still farming them and then selling the fruit to Jean-Claude. As a practical matter not much has changed as Jean-Claude was essentially in charge for several years now. This has also resulted in a change of names as the domaine is now called Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet. We will see if this portends other change...

95 points Decanter: "Les Perrières, located close to the border with Meursault at the bottom of the slope, often seems to show more minerality at Carillon. True to form, this 0.6ha parcel has produced a zesy, crunchy, saline Puligny with some tangerine and citrus fruit and a hint of quince. (TA)" (10/2018) 93 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Perrières from Jacques Carillon is a bit more reserved out of the blocks than the Champs Canet, but everything here seems just a touch more precise and pure as well and in due course, this is going to be even a shade ...

96-98 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Demoiselles Grand Cru is beautifully defined on the nose, featuring wonderful crushed limestone and gunflint scents that permeate the green apple aromas. Very focused and intense. The palate is extremely well balanced with a powerful opening, very saline and so full of energy. Enormous weight and presence toward the finish. This is an outstanding Chevalier-Montrachet from Jadot. (NM)" (12/2020) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The king of the cellar this year is the 2019 Chevalier-Montrach...

94 points Decanter: "More upright and closed than the other two Premiers Crus in Jacques Carillon's range, with flavours of citrus peel and green herbs, this is still very youthful at the moment and will need more time in bottle to digest its 20% new wood. Taut and focused, with a very flinty, mineral palate and some subtle struck match reduction. Drinking Window 2022 - 2028. (TA)" (10/2018) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru comes from a parcel close to Les Perrières. It has a much more reserved and broody bouquet co...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is showing well, unfurling in the glass with bright, gently reductive aromas of crisp orchard fruit, toasted nuts and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and incisive, with a lively spine of acidity and a saline finish, it's promising. (WK)" (01/2021) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru sported a lot of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read on my visit. The palate meanwhile, is clean and fresh, slightl...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne (Duc de Magenta) opens in the glass with scents of honeyed pear, white flowers, baking spices and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's fleshy and concentrated, with lively acids and a toasty, oak-inflected finish. (WK)" (01/2021) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Garenne 1er Cru, which comes from cordon-trained vines up to 85 years old, has a very different bouquet from the La Garenne – more tropical tones...

94 points Decanter: "Despite its location next to Meursault and its tendency to produce slightly broader wines, this is a Premier Cru that is nicely restrained in 2018. Floral and aromatic, with some citrus peel and aniseed scents that segue into a zety slightly salty palate with some lees-derived weight, stylish 20% new wood and a zesty, refreshing finish. (TA)" (10/2019) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is quite firmly reduced and unreadable today. 96 points Decanter: "From a parcel next to Bienvenues on the Puligny side. The fruit is whole cluster pressed before being run into cask along with most of its lees for fermentation and ageing of up to 18 months. The result is spectacular; it's a wine of great elegance, that manages ripe fruit and well-integrated spice from the ageing, yet retains one of the most incisive balances in all of Bâtard, with a perfect equilibrium between buttery richness and a lemony fresh quality. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. (CC)" (10/2020) 94-96 points Vinous: "The 2019 ...

98 points Decanter: "Produced with fruit purchased from two parcels on the Chassagne side, one exposed fully to the south and the second a bit east, neighbours with Lafon and DRC respectively. The result resembles these wines, with fruit on the exotic end of the spectrum enlivened by citrus and mineral notes. On the palate the texture is dense and rich, but easily balanced by firm acidity that sustains it through an immensely long finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's fleshy and gourmand, with lively acids and a chalky finish. 2019 Domaine Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Combettes" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
96 points Decanter: "Superb - this is among the most complex and round, if not necessarily the most easy to approach in its youth. A substantial wine that is somewhat closed initially, with time it opens to show its richness and weight, along with a full array of aromas from ripe pears to fresh flowers, beeswax and spice. The texture is broad, but well balanced by the crisp acidity. A lovely, masterful wine. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. 96 points Decanter: "From a 0.21ha parcel high on the hill above Folatières, almost in Blagny. This has a pure citrusy character on the nose, with lime peel and salty mineral notes. The structure is powerful and tightly wound, but as it opens on the palate, one finds a richer buttery depth that is astounding. Many of the vines in this site are 50–60 years of age, contributing to the concentration. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. (CC)" (10/2020) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet La Truffière 1er Cru, again, showed a little reduction, but un...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A more restrained nose features ripe aromas of both white and yellow orchard fruit, and in particular white peach and apricot, along with wisps of citrus peel and acacia blossom. There is once again a succulent and seductive mouthfeel to the bigger-bodied flavors that possess an abundance of sappy dry extract before terminating in a powerful and impressively persistent finish. Like several of the wines in the range, the 2018 Bâtard would benefit from developing more depth but given the probable aging curve, that sho...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "All but invisible wood sets off the essence of white peach, pear, spice and soft floral aromas. The medium weight flavors also possess a seductive mouthfeel thanks to the copious level of dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acidity shaping the caressing and generously proportioned finish. This is very Referts in style and a wine that should drink well young if that's your preference. *Burghound Outstanding!!* " (06/2020) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru produced an u...

2018 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Pucelles"
New!
91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet les Pucelles 1er Cru has an appealing bouquet of pineapple, orange pith and light wet pavement/petrichor aromas. The palate has better salinity on the entry compared to the Clavoillons, imparting more tension and energy. The finish has a 'licked limestone' quality, which can only be explained if you go out and lick a piece of limestone to experience the tingling sensation. Excellent. 93 points Decanter: "Purchased fruit from a marvellous site, this comes from 60-year-old vines located next to the Leflaive holding. After a slow fermentation, the wine is aged just over one year in cask (60% new) to give a wine of impressive substance. Initially a bit restrained, it opens up on the palate to show plenty of substance and depth, with a texture that remains silky and luminously fresh, in spite of the extract and ripeness here. 94 points Decanter: "Fruit purchased from a 0.45ha parcel within Combettes, fermented and matured at Boillot, delivering a wine of intense concentration, with profuse aromas of lemon peel and a saline edge. The wine is incisively fresh and lively on the palate, but there is plenty of fat to balance it out. This shows the quality of the site, which is located mid-slope near the border with Meursault. 90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Pretty and ripe yet airy aromas are comprised by notes of mostly white fleshed fruit cut with hints of lemon peel, petrol and a whiff of acacia blossom. Here too there is reasonably good density to the delicious and attractively textured flavors that are a bit less overtly mineral on the clean dry and persistent finish. This well-balanced effort should also repay mid-term cellaring." (06/2020) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain is also promising, unwinding...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly riper and super-elegant nose offers up notes of petrol, white peach, floral and honeysuckle that are trimmed in discreet oak. The even more refined medium weight flavors also possess a wonderfully textured mouthfeel along with a bit more minerality before terminating in a palate coating, focused and strikingly long finale. This is also very classy and arguably even more stylish. " (06/2020) 93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru was one cuvée that was showing a little m...

93 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Champs Canet chez Carillon is outstanding on both the nose and palate. The pure and youthfully complex nose delivers a refined blend of apple, pear, tangerine, citrus zest, chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a lovely floral topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very precise on the attack, with a fine core, excellent focus and bounce, zesty acids and a very long, soil-driven and classic finish. This is really lovely and will be a very elegant example of Champs Canet when it is fully mat...

95 points Decanter: "Les Pucelles is often one of the more concentrated Puligny-Montrachet Premiers Crus in Olivier Leflaive's range and that's certainly the case here. Broad, leesy and richly textured with scented 20% new wood, lots of energy and vibrancy and a taut, tangy, focused finish. Very stylish indeed, with comparatively low alcohol for the vintage. (TA)" (10/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles (Récolte du Domaine) has turned out brilliantly, continuing this cuvée's consistent record...

90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru comes from the last plot before you reach La Truffière. This also sported a little reduction but less than the Hameau de Blagny, touches of dried apricot and fresh fig coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, concentrated and full of energy, quite effervescent towards the zest finish. This will be difficult to resist in its youth. 2018 Domaine Etienne Sauzet Montrachet Grand Cru
Top Pick!
93-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Like the BBM, this is aromatically quite restrained but elegant with its cool notes of various white orchard fruit, anise, lemon, tangerine and pretty floral wisps. The exceptionally, powerful and muscular broad-shouldered flavors also brim with sappy dry extract while exuding a subtle minerality on the relatively refined, compact and beautifully well-balanced finale. This is very backwards and particularly so for the vintage so extended patience will be necessary, but this beauty should be well-worth the wait. *D...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot), which derives from lieu-dit En la Richarde, exhibits aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers and toasted bread. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's satiny and complete, with lively acids and a bright, mineral finish. This is very promising. (WK)" (01/2021) 93 points Decanter: "This domain-owned parcel is at the top of Folatieres in the lieu-dit of En Richard, where the elevation and the thin soils produc...

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of buttered toast, honeyed peaches, white flowers and mint introduce the 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot), a full-bodied, layered and enveloping wine that's satiny and sumptuous, with lively acids and fine depth at the core. While I'd give the nod to the stunning Demoiselles as Jadot's best white wine this year, this Montrachet—purchased from the Chassagne-Montrachet side, from the house's usual source—is undeniably promising. Impressive weight and length, and a creamy texture that is nevertheless very fine. The aromas open on the palate, including chalk, ripe pear and floral notes, with a well-integrated oak spice that adds yet another layer of depth to this exquisite wine. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. The bouquet is deep, pure and shows beautiful intensity of flavor in its constellation of pear, apple, crème patissière, fresh almond, a magically complex base of chalky minerality, white flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and very, very refined, with a lovely core of fruit, superb soil inflection, racy acids and outstanding length and gr...

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) is promising, bursting with aromas of citrus zest, buttered orchard fruit, toasted bread, fresh mint and white flowers. The palate is well balanced with a fine edginess on the entry, concentrated with good density, notes of tangy marmalade and spices coming through on the expressive finish. This is a lovely La Garenne that should age with style. (NM)" (12/2020) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne exhibits aromas...

96 points Decanter: "It's usually the other way round, but this Chevalier-Montrachet has more power and concentration than the Etienne Sauzet Bâtard-Montrachet in 2018. Exhibiting appealing struck match aromas, this segues into a palate with notes of dried coconut and vanilla, leesy, creamy flavours and underlying zip and chalky minerality. A classy négociant white. 95 points Decanter: "The Blagny of Puligny-Montrachet' is how Jérôme Flous describes this rich, focused, iodine-scented white from a high-altitude parcel just below La Truffière. Zesty, fine and boasting a pH of 3.2, it's elegant, well balanced and harmonious, easily digesting its 50% new wood and finishing with a taut, mouthwatering flourish. Faiveley nailed its top whites in 2018. 91-94 points Wine Spectator: "No Tasting Note Given." (04/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An attractively layered nose combines lovely floral notes with those of citrus peel, pear and soft spice hints. The racy and tension-filled medium weight flavors possess excellent detail on the palate coating finish that is at once clean, dry and, minerally and youthfully austere. I would further observe that this is a wine that has made considerable progress over the last 10 years, and the 2018 is only the latest confirmation of that progress. In s...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and spicy, showing lemon and hazelnut aromas and flavors surrounded by exotic spices and mineral. Has balance and a lovely creamy texture, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and toast. " (09/2008) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "From 75 year old vines. Intense green fruit and white flower aromas jump from the glass to reveal rich, full, silky and refined medium full flavors built on a base of minerality and in particular, the precision of the bone dry finish is stunning. I very much like this as it's as classy an...

Bid on this bottle of 2013 J.-F. Coche-Dury Puligny-Montrachet "Enseignères" (92VN, 91BH, 90RP). Vinous: "My second bottle of 2013 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères in 12 months confirms the quality of this wine. There is that signature trait of white chocolate on the nose, flanked by aromas of white flowers and maybe heightened marine-like notes less noticeable on the previous bottle. The palate is imbued with exquisite balance, more saline then I recall and suggesting an element of botrytised fruit that contrasts with what feels like a malic/steely finish. So much energy here - a complex and thoroughly engaging wine from Jean-François. Tasted at Le Bristor de l'Hôtel in Beaune. (NM)" (05/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Combettes" (93BH, 92JG, 92ST, 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a still a discrete if not invisible touch of wood sitting atop the layered, ripe, fresh and ever-so-slightly exotic fruit-suffused nose that introduces rich, full-bodied and concentration medium weight plus flavors that are blessed with plenty of palate coating dry extract. I very much like the texture of the mid-palate that carries over to the balanced, powerful and lingering finish that caresses the palate thanks to the dry extract." (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $377.00

Bid on this magnum of 2000 Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Demoiselles" (1.5L) (91BH, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Quite backward and very tight with definite wood toast aromas accompanied by a blast of fresh, ripe orchard fruits and white flowers all framed by a touch of earth. This is very rich and moderately powerful and offers both impressive volume and solid flavor authority though it doesn't have the minerality or detail of the Caillerets. This is persistent and extremely long with bright finishing acidity. *Outstanding*" (07/2002)
