Pasetti's vineyards lie in the heart of Italy's Abruzzo, between the Tirino and Pescara valleys at the foot of Gran Sasso and Maiella. The location's favorable climate, varied terrain and clay chalk and skeleton-rich rocky subsoils result in some of the best wines coming out of Italy today. Made by husband-and-wife team Franco and Mimma from vineyards at 550 meters above sea level, their Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is aromatic, balanced, and elegant. The perfect weeknight red.
Price: $29.99

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Valentini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Valentini is an historic estate in Abruzzo, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest producers in all of Italy. Above all, it is known for its white wine made from the Trebbiano grape, but its Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is one of Italy's most expensive wines. The Valentini family, originally hailing from Spain, has been in Abruzzo for centuries, but had little to do with winemaking until 1950, when Eduardo Valentini took a more active role in the business and became known in the region as "The Lord of the Vines". On his death in 2006, his son Francesco took over, and continued the estate's traditionalist approach to both winemaking and marketing. Valentini makes just three wines – a white Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, a red Montepulciano, and a Cerasuolo rosé, all of which are made in small quantities and are highly collectable.
Starting Bid: $450.00
