2016 Domaine de Verquière Côtes-du-Rhône

Wine Spectator: "Direct, with rounded plum and cherry fruit flavors, backed by a light red licorice note on the open finish. (JM, Web-2017)" K&L Notes: The Verquière estate has been passed down from father to son for many generations and is now managed by brothers Romain and Thibaut Chamfort. Following age-old traditions and sustainable practices, the estate was recently certified organic. 2016 Altovinum Evodia Garnacha Calatayud Top Pick!
2016 Altovinum Evodia Garnacha Calatayud

91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another project between Eric Solomon and the Roussillon’s Jean-Marc Lafage, the 2016 Evodia comes from higher elevation vineyards and is mostly Garnacha (there’s 5% Syrah) aged in a mix of tank and demi-muids. This deep ruby/purple colored is a gorgeous, naked expression of Grenache that just knocks it out of the park. Blackberries, blueberries, pepper, licorice and hints of asphalt all emerge from this plump, sexy, opulent, and shockingly concentrated wine that has incredible charm and character. It’s the best 10-dollar bottle of ...Read More »

2016 Lucky Rock Wine Co. "County Cuvee" Pinot Noir (Previously $17) Top Pick!
2016 Lucky Rock Wine Co. "County Cuvee" Pinot Noir (Previously $17)

Winery Notes: "Brothers Aaron and Jesse Inman grew up a little differently than your average kids in America; they were raised "on the river" in Northern California by gold-mining parents - yep, prospectors - whilst living in a bus that hopped from mining claim to mining claim. This is, of course, the short and sweet version. Needless to say, such an upbringing creates a different perspective on life and life’s challenges - and making wine. For most miners back then prospecting was about the lifestyle, not the gold or silver. For Aaron and Jesse, winemak ...Read More »

Wine Spectator: "This fresh red offers bright cherry and berry flavors, showing light tannins and citrusy acidity. Round and supple, with a juicy finish. (TM, Web Only-2018)" K&L Notes: In the region of Cariñena, the Garnacha grape variety finds a lovely expression, one which is less high octane and lighter on its feet than in some of the neighboring regions.
