Produced from Loureiro and Pederña grapes grown in the granitic soils of the Vinho Verde region, the Santola (or as we here are calling it, "the crab wine") is a delicious, spritely and refreshing white. It doesn't get much more traditional, thirst-quenching or seasonally perfect then this wine. Delicious, low in alcohol, slightly fizzy and way too easy to drink!

93 points Sam Kim: "Bright and fresh, the delightfully fruited wine shows lifted aromas of feijoa, kiwifruit and Gala apple characters with a lovely touch of lime zest. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hints of passion fruit give a vibrant, youthful edge to the other scents of pink grapefruit and lime in Miraval's 2019 Cotes de Provence Rose. It's medium-bodied, with pretty straightforward, citrusy flavors and a crisp, refreshing finish. (JC)" (05/2020) K&L Notes: This Chardonnay is produced by the three brothers Couillaud at the Château de la Ragotière, a few minutes from the Atlantic near the mouth of the Loire River, where the maritime climate is ideal for producing whites that are refreshing and bright. The Couilla...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A simple quaffer, the 2018 Syrah Mourvèdre Viognier has notes of black spice, dusty red plum and blackberry fruits in the glass with a soft smoky, floral essence. Medium-bodied, flavors of dark cherries, plum and subtle red and black spices show up on the mid-palate before concluding with an uncomplicated finish. (AM)" (03/2020) K&L Notes: South Africa has always been a great place to find wines that deliver big on value, and always impress in the glass. Boekenhoutskloof is named for the local variety of beech tree that...

Sommeliers around the world will tell you: there's nothing like a waiter's corkscrew. From the producer: "Double the hinges, double the speed: our double-hinged corkscrew is an efficient, effective take on the sommelier-style classic. Its non-stick worm slides smoothly into cork with minimal friction and a robust hardwood handle maximizes the power of your leverage."

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a strong bottling of this Cabernet-dominant red blend. There’s a slight funk at first, which quickly blows off to reveal aromas of mint, tomato stem, iodine, pencil shavings and warm clay, all weaving through puckered, sunkissed fruit. The palate is big and broad yet raspy and a little on the warm side alcohol-wise. It avoids being syrupy, however, thanks to a lifted line of acidity and a grip of sinewy, spicy tannins. Shows variety and place expression at an affordable price point. " (08/2020) Wine Spectator: "Light...

Côtes de Gascogne is primarily known for the production of Armagnac; it wasn’t until the last 20 years or so that producers began to take table wine production seriously. Traditionally, these wines would have been distilled into Armagnac. Producers found that by fermenting at lower temperatures in stainless steel, they could develop and preserve more powerful aromatics. Though yields are high, costs have stayed low and the wines are consequently some of the best bargain whites in France. Domaine de Millet is first and foremost an Armagnac producer. They ...

In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is an interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth-filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth. 7.0%ABV / 1.068 O.G / 25 BUs
Price: $5.99

From the brewery: "Technically, this is neither an ale nor a lager. The base recipe is for a Golden Ale, but we do the primary fermentation with 100% brettanomyces. The brett gives it some sour notes but not as much as if it had been aged with lacto and pedio. It’s rather refreshing on a warm day!"

Drink now. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. *Value Pick* (MW)" (08/2020) K&L Notes: A master of blending and sourcing California grapes for maximum quality for price, Gott pulled Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County, Napa Valley, Monterey, Lake County and Santa Barbara's Happy Canyon to assemble this blend. Look for tropical ar...

2014 Gold Medal in the Belgian-Style Fruit Ale category at the Great American Beer Festival - This delicious creation was truly a product of creativity, ingenuity, and luck. In the summer of 2013 we took a test batch of our sessionable sour summer ale, Provincial, that didn't quite hit gravity and decided to have some fun with it by adding a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, we ended up brewing it year-round. This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with a citrusy berry aroma which transitions to a subtly sweet and tart ...

91 points James Suckling: "A dense and layered red with lots of dried fruit, spice and dark chocolate character. Full body, rich and flavorful." (03/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vitiano Rosso offers enormous value. Jancis Robinson: "Lemon curd and fat, yellow, spring blossom. Plump-cheeked and generous, honeyed florals and drippingly ripe white peaches. I'd want to drink this on a hot day with a picnic by the side of the Canal du Midi, under the shade of tall plane trees, watching boats lazily motor by manned by sunburned men with big round bellies. Our spirits buyers were gifted two of these stunning black clay copitas on their recent trip to Oaxaca and immediately fell in love with them for their perfect mezcal drinking form and distinct look. They were made by Isabela & Ana Martinez, mother daughter, in the town of Atzompa. The family duo uses a unique reduccion method of firing the pieces. They immerse the fired clay in ash and it seals the clay while imparting a distinct black glaze-like finish. This method is different from the other potters in the village who typically use a green glaze. The ...

Connoisseurs Guide: "Bright, light cherry pink in hue and sporting an attractive, lightly strawberry-like nose that is accented with a minerally whisper, this pleasantly rounded pink follows with mild, very clean, red berry flavors. While it is dry and balanced to be useful with foods, its easy gait invites unaccompanied drinking as well, and it is, at the price, nothing less than an out-and-out bargain. *Good Value*" (07/2020) K&L Notes: A new addition to our rosé selections here at K&L and one I’m super excited about. Aerena’s San Francisco Bay AVA r...

From the brewery: "100% Simcoe hops make up this beer from start to finish! It is named for the location in the experimental hop yard in Yakima, WA, where it was first created. Simcoe is grown by 3 families in the Yakima area, from all of whom we buy this particular hop (and other hops) — Carpenter, Perrault, and Smith. This is one of several beers we plan to make in our NEW “Hop Grower’s Series” highlighting certain hops from our growers! It has that trademark Simcoe nose with citrus and pine, nice bitterness and tasty hop flavors round it out."
