2013-2015 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay Vertical
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013-2015 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay Vertical, including 1-bottle of 2013 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay (98RP, 96VN, 93WS), 1-bottle of 2014 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay (97RP, 95JS, 95VN), and 1-bottle of 2015 Aubert "Sugar Shack" Napa Valley Chardonnay (97JS, 97RP, 93VN). Of the 2013 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the sexiest Chardonnays in the entire portfolio seems to emerge from the only Napa vineyard Mark Aubert has, the Sugar Shack Estate in Rutherford. The 2013 Chardonnay Sugar Shack offers caramelized apples, brioche, crème brûlée, honeyed citrus, white currants, some liquefied stones, a touch of clove, and fabulous, full-bodied ripeness. This tips the scales at nearly 15.5% alcohol, so it is no wimp. Made exclusively from the Montrachet clone of Chardonnay, it can be expected to drink well for another ten years. (RP)"

Of the 2014 Booker "My Favorite Neighbor" Paso Robles Red Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Hold onto your hats with this one, the 2014 My Favorite Neighbor Proprietary Blend will see 24 months in barrel, and there will only be a single cuvee in 2014. This insanely good barrel sample gives up serious, inky, yet pure notes of violets, licorice, black raspberries, creme de cassis and graphite to go with building tannin, a stacked mid-palate and blockbuster length. I'd like to have a case of it in the cellar. (JD)" (08/2016)

2004 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Semillon Vin de Pays (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 2004 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Semillon Vin de Pays (375ml) (100RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The monumental 2004 Mr. K. The Straw Man, a Semillon Vin de Pays, possesses 9.9% alcohol and 310 grams per liter of residual sugar yet an amazing 7.6 grams per liter of acidity. An elixir of amazing proportions, there are 2,500 half bottles, which will be released in early 2008. Astounding notes of marmalade, creme brulee, and a liqueur of roasted nuts are accompanied by fabulous acidity, which provides uplift and vibrancy in spite of its enormous richness and unctuosity. The only thing I can say is you must taste it to believe it! I have no idea how long these sweeties will keep, but they should easily last for two decades or more. (RP)" (08/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More masculine, black fruit-driven, mineral and ripe than the 1990, the 1989 Chateauneuf du Pape is a full-bodied, structured and chewy effort that's fully mature, yet has the concentration and depth to continue evolving nicely. 2010 Raymond Usseglio "Cuvée Impériale - Vignes Centenaires" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Raymond Usseglio "Cuvée Impériale - Vignes Centenaires" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 97JD, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for perfection, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale Vignes Centenaire is clearly the greatest wine I have ever tasted from Raymond Usseglio, even eclipsing their remarkable 2007. Don’t be surprised if it merits a three-digit score in five or six years. Somewhat closed, but bursting with potential, the wine is inky/purple to the rim and boasts abundant amounts of concentrated, jammy blackberry, kirsch, licorice, lavender, forest floor, white chocolate and a hint of truffles in its magnificent perfume. Some tannins appear in the mouth, but there is no doubting the luxurious concentration, multidimensional mouthfeel, full-bodied texture, enormous extract and richness, and nearly endless finish. This monumental Chateauneuf du Pape needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years and consumed over the following 2-3 decades.

2003 Merry Edwards "30th Anniversary Cuvée" Russian River Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Merry Edwards "30th Anniversary Cuvée" Russian River Pinot Noir. To celebrate 30 years in the biz, Merry Edwards made this cuvée from grapes grown on some of the Russian River Valley's oldest Pinot vines, from Windsor Gardens, Olivet Lane, and Quail Hill Ranch vineyards. Tasting notes from the winemaker: "Bold and dense, my 30 possesses a dramatic, complex cherry profile with a harmonizing accent of warm brown spice. A wine with tremendous potential to develop and age, this Pinot Noir epitomized my dedication to producing age-worthy, enduring wines. Note: A true collector’s wine, both Windsor Gardens and the old Quail Hill planting at Lynmar Winery no longer exist. As I update these notes in 2010, my 30 is aging beautifully, showing it has a long life ahead."

2006 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is quite a bit richer than the 2005 tasted alongside it. The 2006 shows gorgeous depth as it opens up in the glass. Dark fruit, licorice, smoke and tar are some of the notes that flesh out in this broad-shouldered Cabernet Sauvignon. A creamy, textured finish rounds things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026. (AG)" (12/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Peter Michael "La Carrière" Knights Valley Chardonnay (93RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a cold, rain-plagued year, the 2011 Chardonnay La Carriere exhibits a light straw color with a greenish hue as well as notes of honeyed brioche, orange marmalade, buttery citrus and terrific fruit. More evolved and seductive than the 2010 at present, the 2011 is a beautiful wine that should drink well for 7-8 years. (RP) " (12/2013)

2003 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92ST, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the smallest crops to be included in the Ridge Monte Bello, only 32% of the production made it into the 2003, which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. Out of barrel as well as post-bottling I liked this wine a lot, and it has changed very little from when I last tasted it in February, 2010. It boasts an inky/blue/purple color along with sweet black currant, blueberry, graphite, licorice and toasty vanillin aromas. The tannins are still noticeable in this full-bodied 2003, but seem reasonably well-integrated. Forget this wine for another decade and drink it over the following 30+ years. (RP) 94+" (06/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 96RP, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection has a dense blackish/purple color and creamy, sweet crème de cassis fruit, blackberries, a touch of graphite and vanilla, This exuberant, boisterous, in-your-face style of Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly a fruit bomb, so be warned. Full-bodied and opulent with stunning concentration and richness, the wine has no hard edges and is much in the Caymus style of terrific fruit intensity (most of it black and blue), voluptuous texture, and a stunning finish with plenty of glycerin, wood and spice. The alcohol on the label is listed at 14.8%, which seems about accurate. I have Caymus Special Selection in my cellar back to some of the historic wines made by Chuck Wagner’s father in the early 1970s, and while the style’s gotten more precocious and consumer-friendly, these wines, even the more l

Of the 2014 Booker "The Ripper" Paso Robles Grenache,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A true gem in the vintage, the 2014 The Ripper (Grenache) is reminiscent of a top vintage of Domaine de Marcoux's Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes with its gorgeously pure bouquet of framboise, kirsch, spice box, licorice and dried flowers. Medium ruby colored and semi-opaque, this full-bodied Grenache has no hard edges, a full, layered texture and building, ripe, sweet tannin that really stretches out the finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94ST, 94VN, 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Broken Stones is sourced from all of the estate’s vineyards, which in this vintage includes Padereweski fruit for the first time, although most of the fruit was sourced from James Berry. Today it comes across as rather tightly wound and implosive, although with air the wine’s potential becomes more evident. Dark cherries, licorice and smoke wrap around the intense finish. Floral notes add the final layers of complexity and nuance. This is another fabulous effort. In 2009 the blend is 60% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Petite Sirah and 8% Grenache. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 94RP, 93WS, 92VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Celia Welch has hit a home run again with the legendary J.J. Cohn Vineyard in Rutherford, a site that includes a block of old vines planted in 1945, which certainly must make them some of the oldest Cabernet vines in all of Napa Valley. There are 2,000 cases of the 2014 Monsieur Etain, which is a great enough Cabernet by itself. Wonderfully pure crème de cassis notes with some white flowers, lead pencil shavings and incense are followed by a deep, full-bodied wine with silky tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel and a beautiful finish of 40+ seconds. Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 1974 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (98RP, 97JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I had this wine twice over a period of thirty days, rating it an astounding 99 and 98 points. A monumental California Cabernet Sauvignon, it appears to have approached its plateau of maturity but should easily last for 20-25 more years. There is no rust, amber, or brown to the saturated dark purple color. The spectacular, huge, Mouton-Rothschild-like nose of mint, cassis, lead pencil, and toast is remarkably youthful. Staggeringly concentrated, this full-bodied, super-rich wine possesses moderate tannin, fresh, lively acidity, and a blockbuster, rich, fleshy finish. This is a monumental effort! (RP)" (08/1994)

2013 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100JS, 100RP, 99VN, 97DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I predicted last year, the 2013 Harlan Estate is one of their all-time greats, although they have had many of them, starting with the 1991, followed by 1994, 1995, 1997 (although controversial in some circles), 2001, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012. This great first-growth property, with aspirations to produce the finest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine made in the New World, has given us a wine that has it all in 2013. Dense purple to the rim, with notes of espresso, white chocolate, mocha, blackberry, cassis, and cedar wood, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, but also structured, pure and incredibly long (well past a minute aftertaste). It is probably closest in personality and overall character to the compelling 2001, which is still a youthful wine at age 15. Drink it over the next 50+ years. (RP)" (10/2016)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is the first of these back-to-back perfect wines from Shafer that, at age 13, is still a baby, but, wow, what an amazing wine. A fabulous growing season produced a wine with inky/purple black color, stunning crème de cassis notes, with additional hints of lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, cedar wood and forest floor. It is full-bodied, sensationally concentrated, with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol. This is a great, monumental Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that is still an infant, at age 13, going on 14. This has got at least three decades of life left in it, and probably won’t hit its peak for another 5-7 years. (RP)" (12/2014)

2007 Abreu Howell Mountain Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Abreu Howell Mountain Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The riveting 2007 Howell Mountain exhibits aromas of black raspberries, blueberries, crushed rocks and flowers along with full-bodied power accompanied by an ethereal delicacy and sublimity that make it a haunting wine to smell and taste. It should drink well for 25+ years. I am increasingly impressed with Abreu’s Howell Mountain Proprietary Red wine. The blend tends to be about two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, 20-25% Cabernet Franc and 10-15% Merlot and Petit Verdot. A completely different animal than the Cappella or Madrona Ranch (which both come from lower elevation vineyards), this cuvee reveals extraordinary notes of crushed rocks and a liqueur of minerals in a steely, full-bodied, powerful style that possesses both intensity and finesse. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant showing for Christian Moueix’s well-known Napanook Vineyard, the 2001 Dominus is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. A classic in the making, this is a flawless, seamless example of elegant, complex Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that possesses a Bordeaux-like personality. This gorgeous, sexy, opulent, dense ruby/purple-colored wine reveals sweet caramel, mocha, creme de cassis and kirsch notes intermixed with a hint of espresso roast as well as underbrush. Ripe, long and full-bodied with well-integrated tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood, this prodigious 2001 is drinkable now and over the next 25+ years given this estate’s longevity track record. A virtually perfect wine, it is one of the most complex 2001s at present. (RP)" (06/2011)

2012 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2012 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another compelling, perfect wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer to Kalon Vineyard Old Sparky. This is Clone 4 and Clone 6, as well as Clone 337, blended together from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, aged in 100% new Darnajou barrels. For whatever reason, this wine seems to show more chocolate, espresso roast, barbecue smoke, dense blackberry and blueberry fruit and enormous body with not a touch of heaviness or astringency. This is a fabulous offering. It should drink well for 20-25 years. (RP)" (10/2014)

1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95ST, 94RP, 93VN, 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The “Bollito not boiled” is one of Bottura’s classic dishes (seven different cuts of beef slowly cooked—for 36 hours—at a lower-than-usual temperature), while the “Beautiful, psychedelic…” veal creation is a far more modern Pollock-esque take on meat, but both match splendidly with Chave’s heavenly 1997 Hermitage Rouge. I’m not much for extremely rich, almost fat reds (and ’97 pushed the envelope) but this wine has aged magnificently and comes across as plush yet graceful, a neat trick. Stylishly supple and glyceral, it overpowers neither the veal nor the bollito. (ID)" (12/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Sine Qua Non "Le Chemin Vers L'Hérésie" California Grenache (99JD, 98RP, (96-98VN)). Jeb Dunnuck: "I loved the 2015 Grenache le Chemin Vers l’Heresie from barrel, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint from bottle. The 2015 checks in as a blend of 75% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 8% Touriga Nacional and the rest Petite Sirah, fermented with 44% whole clusters (all from the Grenache and Mourvèdre) and aged close to two years in mostly used barrel. It sports a ruby/purple-tinged color to go with gorgeous notes of black cherries, framboise, black olives, fennel seed, and peppery herbs. Deep, concentrated, yet also voluptuous and seamless, it’s another tour de force from this estate which consistently produces one of the greatest Grenaches in the world. Bid on this bottle of 1947 Domaine Huët "Le Haut-Lieu" Vouvray Moelleux (100RP, 98JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a legendary vintage ('the most highly respected Loire vintage of the 20th Century' – Richard Kelly), Gaston Huet's dark amber-clored 1947 Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Moelleux opens with a very clear, intense and concentrated bouquet of super ripe peaches, apricots, and blood oranges mingled with fresh lime and coolish mineral flavors,; it is highly elegant and noble in its beautiful balance and intensity. Powerful, sweet, intense and very rich on the palate, this is an absolutely exceptional wine: dense, intense and finesse-full, with firm yet delicate tannins and an endless fruit intensity. There is mind-blowing balance, tension and freshness here. The finish is so pure and salty, so firm and intense that this quintessence of Chenin Blanc should go for another 50 years. Or, as Jürgen Franke from the German retailer Vinaturel puts it: 'The 1947 is great but is always giv

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Bruno Giacosa "Falletto di Serralunga" Barolo Riserva (98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I remember paying what at the time seemed like a small fortune for bottles of Giacosa’s 1990 Barolo Riserva Falletto at Peck’s Enoteca in Milan. What I would give today to be able to buy more at the same tariff! The 1990 Barolo Riserva Falletto is one of Bruno Giacosa’s most towering wines. Period. Rich, layered and opulent, this mineral-driven, powerful Barolo covers every inch of the palate with masses of dark fruit, smoke, soy, plums, menthol, dried roses, pine and a host of other balsamic overtones. This vivid, kaleidoscopic Barolo is a reference-point wine readers won’t want to miss. As always, the Riserva Falletto is virile and authoritative in tone. Simply put, it its profound. Dense ruby/plum, its sweet nose of strawberries, black cherry liqueur, fresh porcini mushrooms and forest floor is followed by a dark, full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that is supple, dramatic, and even flamboyant. Still very backward, this murky, dark ruby-colored wine displays a huge nose of cassis, minerals, licorice, earth, and flowers. In the mouth there is astonishing concentration, terrific flavor delineation, medium to full body, plenty of tannin, and a long, spicy, tightly knit finish. Crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil, crushed rocks, and hints of soot flow to a perfectly balanced, full-bodied, powerful yet seamless Syrah that has integrated acidity, a graceful, weightless texture, and finish. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The greatest Côte-Rôtie I've tasted from this estate, the 1991 Côte-Rôtie is utterly profound and flirts with perfection. Compared to the 2001 by Jean-Paul (I think it's a fair click better), it is as seamless, layered and complex as they come, with phenomenal notes of black raspberries, cassis, olive tapenade, incense and bacon fat all soaring from the glass. On the palate, this full-bodied, silky and awesomely rich wine has highly-delineated yet fat and layered waves of white fruits, stones and spices. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Dalla Valle "Maya" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 98RP, 97WS, 96VN, 94ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Maya borders on perfection. Its dense plum/ruby/purple color is followed by abundant aromas of graphite, blueberry liqueur, hoisin sauce, smoked meats and red and black fruits. The extraordinary aromatics give way to a full-bodied, stunningly concentrated wine with everything in balance, fabulous density and richness, and a finish that lasts nearly 60 seconds. This is unquestionably one of the all-time great Mayas. In keeping with the exuberance and flamboyance of this vintage, it is approachable now, but should age effortlessly for 30+ years. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1994 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 100RP, 99JS, 97VN, 96WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What can I say about the 1994? I have tasted the wine for three consecutive years, and each time it satisfied all of my requirements for perfection. The opaque purple color is followed by spectacular aromatics that soar from the glass, offering up celestial levels of black currants, minerals, smoked herbs, cedar wood, coffee, and pain grille. In the mouth, this seamless legend reveals full body, and exquisite layers of phenomenally pure and rich fruit, followed by a 40+ second finish. While accessible, the 1994 begs for another 5-7 years of cellaring. It should easily last for 30+ years. Every possible jagged edge - acidity, alcohol, tannin, and wood - is brilliantly intertwined in what seems like a diaphanous format. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 1996 Dom Perignon, which has largely disappeared from the marketplace, may be the finest young example of DP I have ever tasted. Notes of crushed rocks, honeysuckle, lemon oil, orange marmalade, and white pear provide a stunning aromatic display as well as palate impression. Great acidity and huge flavor intensity backed up by vibrant acidity make this an exquisite Champagne. It should drink well for 20-25 years, possibly longer. Readers should remember that the 1971 Dom Perignon Rose is still drinking exquisitely. I recently had the 1969 and 1970 Dom Perignons (from magnum), and both were drinking brilliantly. 1990 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva (98RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In this context, the 1990 Barolo Riserva Monfortino is almost too much. While the 1990 Cascina Francia delivers tons of pleasure, the 1990 Monfortino is still years away from offering its finest drinking. Still, this breathtaking Barolo is a pleasure to drink for its round fruit and long, powerful finish. It is exceptional in every way. Here the fruit is quite a bit darker in tonality than the Cascina Francia, with mesmerizing layers of mocha, leather, licorice and tobacco that develop in the glass and add further complexity. However, with the exception of Domaine Leroy, you cannot find a Richebourg or Musigny with the richness and complexity possessed by this awesome wine. The saturated dark purple color is followed by a wine that is surprisingly lighter in the mouth than its great flavor intensity and rich extraction would suggest. He also keeps the price low as a thank you to his customers. Giving up classic cool climate notes of green olives, black cherries, scorched earth, ash and ripe herbs, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, no hard edges, incredibly fine tannin and a finish that just keeps going.
