2015 Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur Echézeaux Grand Cru

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from vines in Loächausses planted in 1989 and 1995). An ultra-spicy black cherry, cassis and discreet earth and floral nuances are trimmed in a hint of sandalwood. The super-rich and pliant medium weight flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract that buffers the supporting tannins on the mocha-inflected and slightly warm finish. This will most please those who enjoy extravagantly rich burgundies though I can’t say that it’s for me. 2023+" (01/2018)

2015 Domaine Francois Lamarche Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the domaine's 0.30 hectare of vine. It has a more intense bouquet than the Echézeaux, as you would expect: red berry fruit, orange zest, hints of tangerine and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, a touch of spice on the entry, great depth here with a subtle savory, almost meaty element towards the structured finish. This has a lot more to give as it feels tighter on the exit than I expect, so give this several years in the cellar ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echezeaux Grand Cru

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is extremely ripe yet manages to remain fresh with its well-layered nose of wood, mocha, black raspberry liqueur, Asian-style tea and wide range of spice elements. There is a sleek, indeed even satiny mouth feel to the imposingly concentrated big-bodied flavors that are opulent yet focused, all wrapped in a strikingly long, balanced and complex finale. Impressive and worth checking out." (01/2017)

2016 Domaine Jean-Marie Fourrier Vosne-Romanée "Aux Réas"

90 points John Gilman: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée “aux Réas” from Jean-Marie Fourrier is very good, offering up a complex nose of raspberries, cherries, raw cocoa, a good base of soil and a touch of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is fullish, tangy and nicely plush on the attack, with a good core, moderate tannins and fine soil drive on the long finish. Good juice." 2015 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée

93 points Wine Spectator: "Earthy, feral aromas give way to ripe dark berry elements, with flavors of black cherry, black currant and violet. Supple and harmonious, this remains fresh and long on the detailed aftertaste. (BS)" (03/2018) 88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This also displays some reduction but not so much as to completely mask the spice elements. There is a wonderfully silky mouth feel to the nicely concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess lovely richness and persistence on the mildly warm and firm finish." 2016 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)

96 points John Gilman: "The 2016 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is quite black fruity this year, but perfumed, elegant and soil-driven at the same time and this is going to be a superb example of the vintage. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a youthful blend of back raspberries, sweet dark berries, a lovely base of minerality, dark chocolate, a touch of fresh nutmeg, gamebird and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and velvety, with a superb core, lovely focus and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, vibr ...Read More »

Not surprisingly the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is notably more refined with both good energy and detail that continues onto the youthfully austere and solidly lingering finish that is firm and well-balanced. A good quality Vosne villages." (01/2018) 88-91 points Vinous: "Good medium red. Black raspberry complicated by smoky minerality on the ripe, expressive nose. 90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe, pretty and attractively layered nose combines notes of spiced tea and red currant with those of lavender and sandalwood. The agreeably textured medium-bodied flavors possess a relatively open mid-palate that, together with the enveloping finish, should allow this to be approachable young if that's your fruit preference but also reward up to a decade of aging. This is very Chaumes in basic character." (01/2018) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes was com ...Read More »

2016 Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot Vosne-Romanée

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from three vineyards covering 1.5 hectares and sees one-third new oak. It has a fragrant bouquet with ebullient strawberry and raspberry fruit entwined with cold stone aromas and discrete sous-bois aromas. The palate has a little more substance than its fellow village crus even if it does not quite deliver the same finesse as the Morey-Saint-Denis or the Gevrey-Chambertin. Still, I appreciate the deft spicy note that sustains the finish. (NM)" (12/2017)

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots has a very pure bouquet, a similar fruit profile to the Beaumonts but with more ripeness, a little more vivacious and charming in keeping with the Suchots style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, more sensual and denser than the Beaumonts, with a corpulent finish perhaps more common in 2015. This is an outstanding Les Suchots. It soaks that up nicely on the composed nose, plenty of blackberry and raspberry fruit with a touch of allspice. The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, very well-judged acidity and a harmonious black cherry and bilberry finish that is very promising. This is a well-crafted Vosne-Romanée with good potential." (12/2017)

It has a well-defined and elegant bouquet with scents of dark cherries, raspberry preserve and wilted rose petal and potpourri scents. 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Nicole told me she lost between 20% and 25% of the crop of her 2016 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru this year. This is evident on the nose that has more fruit intensity and joie de vivre than the Echézeaux. It springs forth with Morello cherries, crushed strawberry and minerals, beautifully defined and focused. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, impressive depth (obviously not carried by any new oak) with a gentle but insistent grip toward the finish. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition. There is superb tension on the entry and conspicuous salinity here. This is at once very Vosne in character with supporting tannins that are slightly finer than usual." 2016 Domaine Perrot-Minot Vosne-Romanée

Allen Meadows writes: "Christophe Perrot-Minot commented that 2016 "was just flat out difficult. The frost was awful as it's depressing to know that in many of your vineyards that you've lost between 50 and 65% of your crop before the growing season has barely begun...Thankfully the harvest had good weather so we had the luxury of waiting without much risk. I used on average about 60% whole clusters but did an extremely soft vinification as I really wanted to extract only the finest tannins. 2010 Domaine Perrot Minot Vosne Romanee (Pre-Arrival)

Antonio Galloni writes: "Perrot-Minot is one of the most exciting domaines in Burgundy. Since 2006-2007 Christophe Perrot-Minot has begun to back away from the dark, concentrated wines he used to make, and the results are stunning. The fruit sees 5-7 days cold soak. Today Perrot-Minot does one punch down every two days, whereas previously he did three per day. In 2010 yields were down a whopping 45%."

There is superb intensity to the delineated and even stonier medium weight flavors that terminate in a borderline rigid and austere finish that stops just short of being tough. The cool, focused and intense medium-bodied flavors possess a slightly finer mouth feel though there is no lack of power, muscle or punch on the more obviously mineral-driven, balanced and even longer finish. 2015 Domaine Francois Parent Vosne-Romanée

Francois Parent's father was one of the first vignerons in Burgundy to begin bottling as a domaine, rather than simply selling off his wine in bulk to the local negotiants. His mother helped in marketing the wines, traveling throughout Europe as one of the first grower/producers, pioneering a boutique trend that has become much more normalized today. Francois has continued in his parents' (no pun intended) footsteps, making traditional and terroir-driven wines from Pommard, as well as Beaune, Corton, and Vosne-Romanée.
