2003 Mitolo "GAM" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia Back In Stock!
2003 Mitolo "GAM" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

96-100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular, dense ruby/purple-colored 2003 Shiraz G. A. M. (named after the Mitolo family’s three children) exhibits aromas of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blueberries, cassis, licorice, new oak, and scorched earth. This complex 2003 comes across as a hypothetical blend of a great La Mission-Haut-Brion from Bordeaux and a Rhone Valley Hermitage such as Chapoutier's Pavillon. Everything is seamlessly integrated into this tour de force in winemaking. (RP)" (10/2004) 94 points James Halliday: "Herb ...Read More »

2016 d'Arenberg "The Stump Jump" Shiraz McLaren Vale

90 points Wine Spectator: "Distinctive, with a fresh note of spearmint complementing the juicy core of plum and blackberry flavors. Herb, chai tea and cigar box elements linger on the long, expressive finish, where the tannins firm up but never get in the way. *Best Value* (MW)" (12/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The medium-bodied 2016 The Stump Jump Shiraz is another terrific bargain. No, it's not a big, plush wine, but it is a crisp, remarkably drinkable mouthful of Shiraz. Red plums and cherries are buttressed by enough tannins so that this c ...Read More »

2014 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (Elsewhere $55)

95 points James Halliday: "Part hand, part machine-harvested, crushed and destemmed, 2-3 weeks on skins in an open headed down fermenter, matured for 20 months in French oak (8% new) and a dab of American oak. Deep crimson-purple; ultra full-bodied and densely packed with the darkest black fruits, licorice, 70% cacao dark chocolate and ripe tannins. Will live forever." (02/2017) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "Still primary, this wine’s wild blueberry and basil scents give it the feel of summer. Chester Osborne’s top selection of old-vine shiraz, this vinta ...Read More »

2015 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (Elsewhere $64) Top Pick!
2015 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (Elsewhere $64)

96 points James Halliday: "This is a particularly good Dead Arm, its alcohol miraculously the same as the '14, but however that may be, it has an elegance to its mouthfeel and lingering finish." (08/2018) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Black cherries and black olives mark the nose of the 2015 The Dead Arm Shiraz, d'Arenberg's flagship bottling. It's a blend of older and younger vines from different sites, depending on what the fruit has to offer. Full-bodied, concentrated and firmly structured, it's nevertheless velvety on the long finish, p ...Read More »

2016 Angove Family Winemakers Shiraz McLaren Vale

91 points James Halliday: "McLaren Vale shiraz from mature vines across a range of vineyards. All fermented as whole berries before being basket pressed to mostly older French oak. It's a supple shiraz with plum and blackberry notes melting effortless into smoky, cedary oak. It sits at the upper end of medium weight which, combined with its slinky softness, makes for effortless drinking. (CM)" (02/2018) Wine Spectator: "Focused, velvety and rich, with plump blackberry, blueberry and toffee flavors, and showcasing Earl Grey tea and dried herb notes on t ...Read More »

2011 Mollydooker "The Carnival of Love" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

94 points Wine Spectator: "Dense, deep and complex, offering a cascade of cherry, blueberry and clotted cream flavors, with a whole range of spices on a plush texture. This has an arresting presence and finishes with pizzazz. Drink now through 2020. (HS)" (03/2013) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very deep green-purple in color, the 2011 Carnival of Love flaunts a very expressive and fragrant nose with floral notes, roses and potpourri intermingled with toasty black cherries, creme de cassis, chocolate, pepper and accents of cinnamon and clov ...Read More »

2003 Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale South Australia Back In Stock!
2003 Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale South Australia

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up aromas of cassis liqueur, graphite, toast, smoke, and camphor along with huge body, gorgeous sweetness as well as purity, a multilayered texture, and a colossal finish. I would opt for drinking it over the next 7-8 years, but keep one bottle back until age 12-15. There is so much here it is hard to believe this wine will collapse after 8-10 years of age. Interestingly, this 2003 does not appear to be quite as powerful or concentrated as the 2002s or 2001s, but that’s like spl ...Read More »

2002 Mitolo "G.A.M." Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Produced from 26-year old vines and aged in French oak (80% new), the 2002 Shiraz G. A. M. reveals tremendous fruit purity, but it does not yet reveal secondary nuances. The inky blue/purple color is accompanied by aromas of ink, camphor, graphite, blackberries, and blueberries. While it possesses tremendous purity as well as an enormous full-bodied texture, it is neither heavy nor overbearing. This stunning Shiraz may be even better than the 2002 Savitar. Time will tell. Barrel samples of three 2002s revealed ...Read More »

2002 Mitolo "Savitar" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The saturated blue/purple-colored 2002 Shiraz Savitar offers gorgeous aromas of white flowers, liquid minerals, blackberries, blueberries, earth, and tree bark. Ripe and full-bodied, with great intensity, this prodigious effort will require 2-3 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2018. Barrel samples of three 2002s revealed tremendous potential in what appears to be the finest efforts Mitolo has yet produced. There are 300-400 cases of each, and all three are scheduled to be bottled in October. (RP ...Read More »

2010 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Syrah McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Syrah McLaren Vale South Australia (100RP, 97JH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Astralis is still quite primary eliciting aromas of black plums, blueberry compote and blackcurrant liqueur with a savory and baking spice undercurrent plus a fragrant whiff of violets. Very structured, fine and complex in the medium to full-bodied mouth, this wine is revealing much more than when I first tasted it a year ago and is now showing layer upon layer of black fruit preserves, mocha, toast and spices before finishing with great length. Extraordinary wine. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2030+. (LPB)" (02/2014)
