2015 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie (1.5L)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Inky colored, the flagship 2015 Côte Rôtie La Mordorée is an utterly incredible wine any way you look at it and is a legendary Côte Rôtie in the making. Black raspberry, blackberry jam, toasted spices, dried flowers and cured meat notes give way to a sexy, full-bodied, ripe, and incredibly opulent 2015 that has sweet tannin, no hard edges and a huge finish. The fruit of the vintage, as well as the sweet tannin, allow this to offer pleasure even today, but it’s going to benefit from 5-6 years of bottle age and drink beautifully fo ...Read More »

1999 E. Guigal "Brune et Blonde" Côte-Rotie

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(bottled in January of 2002) Bright ruby-red. Superripe, expressive aromas of raspberry, coffee, roasted herbs and pepper; shows a slightly porty surmaturite. Rich, round and lush; a wonderfully ripe and full-blown yet fresh wine with substantial, solid tannins and superb persistence. This has a lot of all the key elements, including acidity. A superb vintage for this wine - and there are more than 27,000 cases of this stuff! (ST)" (01/2003) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Shows a juicy core of macerate ...Read More »

2015 Delas Freres "Seigneurs de Maugiron" Côte-Rôtie

95 points Decanter: "Youthful with elegant restraint and bags of potential. Sweet spice and dark fruits contrast with savoury tapenade notes and a piercing salinity. Classic and stylish." (06/2018) 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Côte Rôtie Seigneur De Maugiron is a little gem of a wine, and I suspect the finest vintage I’ve tasted for the cuvée. Rounded, full-bodied, voluptuous, and impeccably balanced, it offers lots of spice, cured meats and black fruits, sweet tannin, and a great mid-palate. It has considerable elegance and purity, and is more sex ...Read More »

2016 Delas Freres "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2016 Delas Freres "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship 2016 Côte Rôtie La Landonne is certainly on another level and might just match the 2015. Deep purple-colored and heavenly perfumed, with notes of black raspberries, violets, vanilla spice, incense and flowers, it’s full-bodied, ripe, seamless, and structured. It shows the more elegant style of the vintage, but is going to need time. Delas Frères is located just outside of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols and has plenty of prime parcels spread throughout the entire northern Rhône Valley. The 2015s are the finest wines I’ve tas ...Read More »

2016 Rene Rostaing "Ampodium" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

91-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Moving to the 2016s from barrel, this late vintage wasn’t completely brought in until the middle of October. The 2016 Côte Rôtie Ampodium has the purity and elegance that’s the hallmark of the vintage as well as ripe berry fruits, violets, and pepper. It’s a charming, forward 2016 that’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate." (01/2018) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted from a barrel that Rostaing said represented something 'close to the final blend' of the 2016 Cote Rotie Ampodium. This medium-bodie ...Read More »

2016 Saint Cosme Côte-Rôtie

94 points James Suckling: "Stony aromas with sweet spices in abundance, ahead of ripe plums and raspberries. The palate has silky tannins and a very suave, fleshy array of ripe, red plums and nectarines. Long and delicious. " (08/2018) 92-94 points Vinous: "Bright purple. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes candied dark berries, olive, smoked meat and incense, and floral and mineral notes build steadily. Sweet, focused and penetrating on the palate, offering sappy boysenberry, cherry and violet pastille flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Impre ...Read More »

2017 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always a blend of Côte Brune and Côte Blonde, the 2017 Cote Rotie la Mordorée is a stunning example of this cuvée. Pencil shavings frame raspberry and blueberries on the nose, while the palate is full-bodied and concentrated, richly tannic but fully ripe, with licorice notes coming to the fore on the long, velvety finish. Super stuff. (JC)" (10/2018) 93 points Decanter: "Bright, attractive floral aromas of violet and peony, with black cherry and raspberry fruit. 2016 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine "Domaine des Pierrelles" Côte-Rôtie

92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Côte Rôtie Les Pierrelles comes from the southern part of the appellation, which is more granite soils (compared to the broken schists in the north) and yields a more finesse-driven, elegant wine. The 2016 is supple, polished and elegant, with lots of blackberry fruit intermixed with notions of dried earth, pepper, and hints of dried flowers. This medium-bodied, elegant, compelling Côte Rôtie will drink well for 10-15 years." (01/2018) 92-94 points Vinous: "Dark purple. Powerful, mineral- and smoke-accented blueberry ...Read More »

2015 Delas Freres "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (1.5L)

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Côte Rôtie La Landonne from Delas is a seamless, gorgeously balanced Côte Rôtie that reminds me of the 2011. Offering classic notes of smoked meats, currants, graphite, chocolate and roasted herbs, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, plenty of polished tannins, and perfect balance. It's surprisingly accessible, yet has beautiful density and depth of fruit. It's more approachable than most vintages, yet will evolve for just as long given its purity, harmony and balance. This cuvée comes all from the schi ...Read More »

2016 Ferraton Père et Fils "L'Eglantine" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A ripe, sexy Côte Rôtie, the 2016 Côte Rôtie L’Eglantine boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as terrific notes of black raspberries, toasted spice, dried herbs and violets. It's medium to full-bodied, elegant and polished, with sweet tannin, and it shines for its texture, balanced and purity." (01/2018) 88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Cote Rotie l'Eglantine, a blend of three different parcels, is aging in 20% new oak and shows some cedar, pie-crust notes as a result, plus complex notes of blackberrie ...Read More »

2015 Christophe Billon "La Brocarde" Côte-Rotie

94-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the same qualitative ballpark as the Côte Rozier, yet possessing more elegance, the 2015 Côte Rôtie La Brocadre (95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, mostly destemmed and aged in new barrels) offers lots of raspberry and black raspberry notes, as well as new saddle leather, cassis, toasted spice and dried flowers. Full-bodied, pure, layered and downright silky, it’s a brilliant wine that will have two decades of longevity. This was a sensational lineup of wines from Côte Rôtie-based Christophe Billon. 2016 Christophe Billon Syrah "Correndies" Collines Rhodaniennes

One of our great new finds this year came from our visit to Christophe Billon in Côte-Rotie. Residing in the lieu-dit of Côte Rozier, Billon has flown under the radar for far too long. While working at Guigal, Christophe and his wife Maryline began this side project in 1991. He left Guigal in 2008 to dedicate his full time to their estate vineyards. Christophe now makes three Côte-Roties along with an entry-level Syrah, Viognier and a beautiful Condrieu. The "Correndies" is from his parcel just outside the appellation. It offers Cote-Rotie quality for ...Read More »

2015 Christophe Billon "Les Elotins" Côte-Rotie

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "No tasting note given." (12/2016) 91 points Vinous: "Brilliant violet. Ripe cherry and boysenberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of smoky minerals, candied flowers and olive. Pliant red/blue fruit flavors show good depth and focus, and licorice and cracked pepper nuances build as the wine opens up. Blends power and vivacity on a long, penetrating finish that features building tannins and lingering floral, olive and smoky mineral notes. 2016 Rene Rostaing "Cote Blonde" Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Decanter: "No destemming here, aged in mostly old demi-muids with no more than 10% new oak. A captivatingly pretty floral fragrance can be coaxed out along with aniseed and blackberry notes, but it's tightly wound for now. The rounded palate is dense, with good concentration of red fruit and delightfully perfumed juniper. Soft tannins coat the mouth, and oak is present but well judged. There's good balancing acidity and a lovely, gently mineral seam leads onto a long, saline, savoury, piercing finish. Real detail and precision. (MW)" (10/2017) ...Read More »

2010 Rene Rostaing "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Rene Rostaing "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (96RP, 95WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne reveals a dense purple color along with a huge, impressive perfume of roasted meats, black currants, black raspberries and scorched earth. This 100% Syrah comes from vines planted on exceptionally steep slopes composed of schist and iron-like sub-soils. Some graphite also makes an appearance in this mineral-dominated, well-delineated, rich, intense wine. (RP)" (12/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rene Rostaing "Cote Blonde" Cote Rotie (95RP, 95ST, 95VN, 95WS). Wine Spectator: "Very perfumy at first, with violet and singed bay leaf notes leading the way for very silky plum and cherry confiture flavors. The long, dark finish lets an iron hint flitter through as this expands steadily, revealing lots of charcoal-tinged grip that blossoms and blossoms, turning this into an intense, dark, brooding wine. Best from 2015 through 2027. (JM)" (07/2012)

2012 Rene Rostaing "Côte Blonde" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Rene Rostaing "Côte Blonde" Côte-Rôtie (97RP, 94VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the best wine here (at the moment anyways) is the 2012 Cote Rotie Cote Blonde. More reserved and closed initially, it has subtle, yet seductive notes of black raspberry, blackberry, toasted spice, smoke earth and cured meat that gradually open up in the glass. This is followed by a full-bodied, dense, substantial Cote Rotie that has awesome polish to its tannin, a great mid-palate and a smoking finish. It too needs short-term cellaring, but will keep for 2-3 decades. This was another terrific visit with Rene Rostaing, and he's hit gold in both 2012 and 2013. In fact, he may have fashioned the wines of the vintage in 2013 and I was blown away by the depth and richness these showed. There are few people doing Côte Rôtie better than this guy. 1994 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte Rôtie
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte Rôtie (98RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(From the 1997 note) The great glories of this house are its Cote Roties, of which there are now five separate offerings. The single-vineyard 1994s were singing loudly when I saw them in July. All of them scored significantly higher than they did during the two previous years, which is not unusual as Guigal's upbringing (elevage) of the wines results in better examples in the bottle than in cask. All three wines flirt with a perfect score. At this tasting, they reminded me of Guigal's 1982s - opulent, sumptuously-textured, forward, rich, precocious, flattering wines that will drink well throughout their lives. The fabulous 1994 Cote Rotie La Landonne, which is more dominated by toasty new oak than La Mouline and La Turque, is extremely muscular and powerful, with high tannin as well as fabulous extract. The wine reveals a dense, black/purple color, and a tight nose with ple

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Jean-Michel Gerin "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (94WS, 93VN). Wine Spectator: "Fresh and pure, with a supple feel to the aspberry, plum and black cherry coulis flavors, melding easily with light tobacco, bay leaf and singed balsamic notes. A light iron echo holds through the finish, which builds steadily with air in the glass, showing ample length and depth. (JM)" (09/2016)
