1997 Sine Qua Non "Impostor McCoy" Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Sine Qua Non "Impostor McCoy" Syrah (96RP, 94WE, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The funky artwork on the bottle emerges from Manfred Krankl's artistic side, but as the label says, 'the truth is in the inside.' I have already wolfed down two bottles of the 1997 Impostor McCoy (529 cases) with equally voracious friends. A thick, juicy, massive Syrah, it gushes copious quantities of licorice-infused blackberry fruit offering smoke, coffee, and meaty notes. The wine is mouth-filling, teeth-staining, and loaded. Its high alcohol (15.3%), glycerin level, and low acidity make it easy to drink, but I suspect it will age easily for 10-20+ years. (RP)" (02/2000)

1972 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru "Grands Epenots"
Bid on this bottle of 1972 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru "Grands Epenots" (93JG). John Gilman: "Way back in my merchant days, I had the good fortune to drink a fairly large number of 1972 red Burgundies, as this was a vintage that was still to be found in relatively plentiful amounts at auction or on lists from Burgundy specialists, as the wines had been tough and acidic for much of the first twenty or so years of their lives in bottles and not many folks had faith in the vintage after so long and stormy an adolescence. Happily, the wines really started to show well in the mid-1990s and could be found at good prices for quite some time, so I was able to get to know the vintage pretty well back in the day. The 1972 Michel Gaunoux Grands Epenots is a wine that I had not drunk since all the way back in 2003 and I was delighted to see how beautifully it continues to drink all these years later. The bouquet is pure, complex and tertiary, offering up scents of dried cherries, sous b

1948 Fonseca (Whitwhams Bottling) Vintage Port
Bid on this bottle of 1948 Fonseca (Whitwhams Bottling) Vintage Port (100WS). Wine Spectator: "This is astonishingly youthful; it could almost pass as a barrel sample on the palate. The perfect Port? Deep ruby with a slight garnet edge, rich aromas of violets and fruit, extremely full-bodied, with plenty of violet and fruit flavors, full tannins and a long, balanced finish. Can drink now, but it will age for decades. (JS, Web-1989)"

2011 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More serious, and one of the wines of the vintage, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has uncommon concentration and depth in the vintage, as well as a broad, structured profile that will allow it to age gracefully. Loaded with sweet creme de cassis, exotic spice, licorice and graphite, it’s a full-bodied, elegant and classically styled effort that has nothing out of place, fine, building tannin and a rock star finish. It will be approachable at an earlier stage than most vintages, yet still have two decades of longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)
