Our third vintage of this direct import Albariño, this wine shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit, and a brisk, saline-tinged palate. Located in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea, where the days are a bit warmer and evenings are slightly cooler, there is a wonderful mid-palate presence to complement the typically lean and mineral qualities of Albariño. A classic with any shellfish, especially Dungeness crab!

Marta Castro produces this tasty Albariño from vines located in the Salnes Valley town of Ribadumia, just a bit inland from Cambados. Given 5 months of lees ageing in the tank, this is an albariño with juicy stone fruit flavors, a round texture and well balanced acidity. Delicious, representative and good value in Albariño.

I tasted their regular 2016 Albariño, which is produced from a mix of grapes from the 164 plots of vines they work, adding diversity of soils, mostly granite and sand but also red slate, and expositions in the villages of Meaño, Adina, Sisán, Castelo and Leiro.
