2017 Pazo de Señorans Albariño Rias Baixas

92 points James Suckling: "The complex white-peach, gooseberry and floral nose is very enticing and just beginning to open up. Rich, yet sleek and elegant with spot-on balance of fruit, creaminess from yeast contact and lemon-lime acidity. Where is that pan-fried fish! " (08/2018) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Peach, pear and quince flavors are accented by floral and briny notes in this generous white, with citrusy acidity keeping it focused and lively through the minerally finish. (TM)" (09/2018) K&L Notes: Albarino is the perfect summer white, but its ...Read More »

2017 Fefiñanes Albariño Rias Baixas

93 points Wine & Spirits: ""This is the flagship of Palacio de Fefiñanes, first produced in 1928. The grapes are from Cambados, and the wine spends six months in stainless-steel tanks until it's bottled. A classic albariño from Rías Baixas, this is a lovely mix of peach flavors, scents of flowers and herbs and a mineral background. It is soft, round, juicy and rich in its lime-scented acidity. For batter-fried calamari."" (08/2018) K&L Notes: Luis Gutierrez writes: "The Bodega del Palacio de Fefiñanes is one of the eldest producers in Albariño, as they ...Read More »

2017 Fento Wines "Bico da Ran" Albariño Rias Baixas

A project lead by Eulogio Pomares, famous for his work at Zarate, this Salnes Valley Albariño is crisp, fresh, juicy, and centered on a bright, yellow fruit profile. Impeccably balanced Albariño done just right, it will be sure to hit the spot. Best to hurry on this one as there is not too much more of it available stateside.

2015 Do Ferreiro Albariño Rias Baixas

Do Ferreiro is a benchmark Albariño. Every year, it delivers the goods, showing a degree of aromatic complexity, nervy minerality, and pure intensity of flavor that always makes it stand out from the rest. Delicious upon release, it is also one of the few Albariños to improve in bottle for up to a decade (maybe longer?) beyond the vintage year. There is bright fruit intermingling with the classic Do Ferreiro salty/smoky mineral bite. Enjoy this wine on its own or with all types of seafood. This would even be terrific with a hearty bean soup. (Joe Manekin ...Read More »

2017 Lagar de Pintos "Castañeira" Albariño Rias Baixas

Marta Castro produces this tasty albariño from vines located in the Salnes Valley town of Ribadumia, just a bit inland from Cambados. Given 5 months of lees ageing in the tank, this is an albariño with juicy stone fruit flavors, a round texture and well balanced acidity. Delicious, representative and good value in Albariño.

2017 Adegas Valtea Albariño Rias Baixas

Our third vintage of this direct import Albariño, this wine shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit, and a brisk, saline-tinged palate. Located in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea, where the days are a bit warmer and evenings are slightly cooler, there is a wonderful mid-palate presence to complement the typically lean and mineral qualities of Albariño. A classic with any shellfish, especially Dungeness crab!

2016 Adegas Valtea "Finca Garabato" Albariño Rias Baixas

Finca Garabato is a parcel of Valtea's oldest wines. You will notice that it says "2o Año" on the label, which refers to the fact that it ages in tank on its lees for a year following fermentation. This gives the wine a lovely richness, whichreally ramps up the flavor and textural qualities of the wine. Still refreshing, only richer than the regular Valtea bottling and ready to take on a meal.

2017 Zarate Albariño Rias Baixas

Zarate is legendary in the Salnes sub-zone of Rias Baixas. They were the first to bottle single vineyard Albariños, highlighting different terroirs within the region. Their wines are always amongst the most linear, acid forward, and structured of Albariños, and we are thrilled that they are once again represented in the US and available for purchase. Absolutely classic wines from this top Spanish white wine D.O.

2016 Do Ferreiro "Cepas Vellas" Albariño Rias Baixas

Produced from a one hectare vineyard site in Meaño, a village boasting the largest concentration of older Albariño vines (for this cuvee they are 200+ year old, pre-phylloxera vines!), this one is truly special. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts, spends 12 months on its lees in stainless steel, and doesn't see any French oak whatsoever. Drink this and you'll understand why, when it comes to Albariño, it's all about raw material. This is a very special wine, showing great intensity of rich stone fruit flavors as well as wonderful minerality. D ...Read More »

2016 Forja de Salnés "Leirana" Albariño Rías Baixas

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2016 was a slow ripening year, and there was some rain. They waited for the grapes to recover, so the grapes for the 2016 Leirana were harvested a little later, with perfect ripeness and a little more body and lower acidity. But we're talking 13.4% alcohol and 8.6 grams of acidity (tartaric), very good figures. It's a very complete wine, with superb balance and freshness and without excessive acidity that can sometimes happen. This is still very young, but it will improve in bottle and possibly become one of the ...Read More »
