2017 Leitz "Dragonstone" Riesling Rheingau Back In Stock!
2017 Leitz "Dragonstone" Riesling Rheingau

Extraordinarily aromatic, vigorous wines from a vintner who grows more commanding each vintage. This is the wine that once was called Rüdesheimer Drachenstein, and it’s the wine David Schildknecht said was the best Riesling value in the world, which is because Johannes sells it to us for much less than it’s worth. For a large-production wine this receives the same care in the vineyards and cellar that every Leitz wine receives.

2016 Georg Breuer Spätburgunder Rosé GB Rheingau

90 points James Suckling: "Sweet strawberry and raspberry aromas, juicy and surprisingly concentrated, and just off-dry at the long finish." (04/2018) K&L Notes: An earnest and vinous rosé; in weight it’s part way to a red wine (though the color is pale); it’s very dry and stately, rose-hips; rosé for people who normally dislike rosé for being too “fruity,” and it is emphatically a year-round wine.

2015 Georg Breuer Rudshein Estate Riesling Trocken Rheingau

90 points Vinous: "Lime and ripe peach on the nose anticipate the juicy abundance of fruit on a clear, polished palate, set off by stony and alkaline undertones. The finish is bright and tangy, with mouthwatering salinity and delightful buoyancy. (DS)" (09/2017)

2017 Leitz Pinot Noir Rosé Rheingau (Dry)

From Johannes Leitz, the creative winemaker behind Dragonstone Riesling and EINS-ZWEI-DRY. This has been a staff fave for several years running for its immediately likeable, fresh--and somewhat dry, with high acidity and 17.2 g/L RS--palate of cherry, cranberry, wet stone, and vibrant acidity. Easily quaffable and very food friendly.

2015 Georg Breuer Rauenthal Estate Riesling Trocken Rheingau

90 points Vinous: "Scents of iris and gentian mingle with intimations of the fresh lemon and lime that then dominate on a bright, buoyant, silken-textured palate transparent to shimmeringly crystalline mineral nuances. At just 11.3 percent alcohol, the wine conveys delightful buoyancy perfectly suited to its prominent florality. It finishes with near-endless juiciness and persistent floral inhalations for an exhilarating and consummately refreshing performance. (DS)" (09/2017) K&L Notes: Importer's notes: "You need patience as you plow through some red ...Read More »

2017 Robert Weil Riesling Trocken

91 points James Suckling: "The slight hint of funk in the nose that quickly turns into a flinty note, announces a change of style at this famous estate. Perhaps the sugar levels weren't high. Yet, this is rather bold as well as very crisp. Discreet, white-fruit character and quite a salty mineral finish. Drink now." (09/2018)

2016 Kunstler Berg Schlossberg Gosses Gewachs Riesling

95 points James Suckling: "Very delicate and filigree with great purity of flavor and a salty minerality that balances the lemon and white peachy fruit beautifully. The stunningly long finish suggests this has a couple of decades ahead of it at least. " (08/2017) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Rheingau Riesling Rüdesheim Berg Schlossberg "GG" / "Grosse Lage" is deep, pure and ripe on the nose, with flinty and bright fruit aromas. Lush and racy on the palate, with a good mid-palate and a piquant and firm character, this is a rather l ...Read More »

2016 Goldatzel Johannisberger Vogelsang Alte Reben Riesling Feinherb Rheingau

92 points Vinous: "At 12% alcohol, this virtually dry-tasting bottling lacks the buoyancy of other feinherb offerings from the present collection, but its limey brightness; luscious concentration of white peach and honeydew melon; nip of raw ginger; and marine alliance of salinity and alkalinity combine for an animating and mouthwatering performance that left my palate saturated and my tongue tingling. Even given the peculiar, lees-enhancing virtues of his estate’s tanks (about which, consult my introduction) Johannes Gross says he thinks this wine would ...Read More »

2016 Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Kaisersteinfels Kabinett Riesling Rheingau Back In Stock!
2016 Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Kaisersteinfels Kabinett Riesling Rheingau

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Rheingau Riesling Berg Kaisersteinfels Kabinett is Leitz's 15th Kabinett-styled wine from this exceptional vineyard. The 2016 was stopped with 25 grams of residual sugar like the legendary Alte Reben 2005. It is a beautifully reductive, smoky, lush and grippy Riesling with 9.5% alcohol. Highly elegant and full of Scandinavian spirit. (SR)" (12/2017) 91 points Vinous: "This Kabinett, picked only slightly ahead of its Grosses Gewächs counterpart but in the site’s highest terraces, reflects a similarly mo ...Read More »

2015 Georg Breuer Spätburgunder Rouge GB Rheingau

James Suckling: "Appealing cherry fruit with a herbal touch in the nose, then sleek and slightly tart on the palate this is a dead ringer for a Bourgogne rouge. Has the hint of the rusticity those wines often have. Drink through 2020. " (04/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Rheingau Spätburgunder Rouge "GB" is from vineyards in Rüdesheim and Rauenthal. This has a very delicate, beautifully perfumed and floral Pinot Noir with ripe red fruit and spicy-mineral as well as slightly leathery aromas. Fresh and straight on the palate, with a silky ...Read More »

2016 Goldatzel Johannisberger Holle Riesling Spatlese Feinherb Rheingau

93 points Vinous: "This barely off-dry, tank-raised bottling offers juicy fresh apple and lime incisively and pungently laced with cress and oregano for a remarkably treble, lively, and (at 11.5% alcohol) buoyant interpretation of Hölle (“Hell”), to which inner-mouth perfume of rowan adds allure. But there is a palpable, almost doughy mid-palate sense of extract richness, and the underlying stoniness characteristic for this site comes through decisively in a clear, shimmering, crystalline, penetrating, mouthwatering salt-laced finish. The hidden sweetnes ...Read More »

2016 Kunstler Alvarinho Trocken Rheingau

92 points James Suckling: "Does the Portuguese Alvarinho (the same grape as Spain's Albarino) in Germany seem absurd? Then taste the powerful and crisp wine that has considerable herbal and mineral complexity at the long finish. Best through 2022. " (08/2017) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Künstler's 2016 Alvarinho is a very good wine that will quickly acquire its fans: Packed with bright tropical fruit and ripe peach aromas along with mineral notes, this is a round and slightly sweet white with lush and mouth-filling fruit that is structured by remar ...Read More »

2004 Josef Leitz Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Riesling Spätlese
Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 2004 Josef Leitz Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Riesling Spätlese (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leitz could start a new career in green-bottle Rieslings! The 2004 Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Riesling Spatlese smells of peaches and strawberries and comes to the palate creamy yet with fresh acidity, apply crispness, and subtle saltiness. This exhibits a bit less poise and minerality than the Klosterlay, as befits a deeper-soiled site, but it offers compensatory richness and a similar infectious juiciness. As usual, Leitz is on a qualitative roll with these sweet wines from in principle less-good sites. (DS)" (10/2005)

1999 Schloss Johannisberg "Rosa-Goldlack" Riesling Beerenauslese Rheingau (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 1999 Schloss Johannisberg "Rosa-Goldlack" Riesling Beerenauslese Rheingau (375ml). David Schildknecht writes: "The affable and astute Christian Witte continues to implement wide-ranging quality initiatives at this venerable property as well as at its sister estate, G.H. Mumm (whose wines do not, however – at least yet – meet the same stringent quality standards). Whether all of these wines are worth paying their traditionally high asking prices is another matter, but every indication is that price is not an impediment, or at least, not at the high end or in the home market."

2002 Franz Kunstler Hochheimer Kirchenstuck Riesling Spätlese

90 points Wine Spectator: "Bold, rich and juicy, this is both concentrated and lithe, featuring peach, apricot, mango and lemon notes displayed with harmony and persistence." (03/2002) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Peach, pear and lemon oil aromas. Bright and citric but also creamy in texture and rich in orchard fruits on the palate. Quite expressive and long. 1 star. (DS)" (01/2004)
