2010 Château Musar Rouge Bekaa Valley Lebanon

Jancis Robinson: "Bright ruby. Heady, rich and gamey on the nose. Very hedonistic and accessible on the nose with real density and lifted slight gaminess. An attractive singed character on top of very ripe fruit. Great balance and freshness (but not excessive acidity) on the finish. Very neat on the end. Something rather wild and Romany about this. Already accessible even if I'm sure it will develop even more complex tertiary aromas. 18/20 points (JR)" (02/2018) K&L Notes: Though Middle Eastern wine is something of a novelty in the U.S., wine is nothi ...Read More »

2015 Musar "Jeune" Rouge Bekaa Valley Lebanon

Chateau Musar first started producing the Musar Jeune range of wines in 2006 from the fruit of low-yielding Bekaa Valley vines at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Altitude keeps the average temperature at 25 degrees Celsius and with 300 days of sunshine a year, the grapes are ripened to perfection. Unoaked and made according to Musar’s natural non-interventionist wine-making philosophy, Musar Jeune wines are vibrantly fruity and richly concentrated and this vintage is no exception. The Musar Jeune Red 2014 is a blend of old vines Cinsault (50%), Syra ...Read More »

After distillation, it is aged for one year in terracotta amphora’s which contribute to its liquorice aroma. It is customary to add water to Arack when serving it as a digestif, but L’arack de Musar can be enjoyed without water. It is s ...Read More »

2014 Château Musar "Hochar Père et Fils" Rouge Bekaa Valley Lebanon

Hochar Père et Fils Red has been described as the "second" wine of Château Musar, and it does bear some resemblance to the 'Grand Vin': rich, spicy and profoundly fruity, with a mellow quality derived from lengthy oak- and bottle ageing. Since its launch in the late 1980s, it has been sourced from a single Bekaa Valley vineyard planted in the 1940s. When young, the wines are robust and aromatic, with baked plum, warm earth, leather, thyme and dark chocolate characters. With age they become tawnier and spicier." The Hochar family settled in the high-altit ...Read More »
